2. IDEA #3
Chet Baker – I Fall In Love Too Easily The artist has very harsh lighting on him holding a
trumpet with someone playing the piano behind him.
There is smoke coming from a lit cigarette and it is all
edited to be in black and white. They are dressed in
typical swinger setting, the artist is very sad and
brooding sometimes looking at the camera and all to be
done in one-take showing as he is very stricken by the
absence of the woman he loves as it ends with a zoom
out that fades to black.
Chet Baker was an American artist in the midst of
the swingers era, he played trumpet, piano and
about 10 other instruments and was hailed as
"James Dean, Sinatra, and Bix, rolled into one.".
Much like the music coming from that era, his
songs were about love but unlike his
contemporaries, his was more negative and
doubtful as he feared he would ever find the love
that was right for him.
3. PERFORMANCES
There are not many videos circulating the internet with
performances of the song however, the first introduction
to the general public of the song was by Frank Sinatra in
the 1945 film, Anchors Aweigh which won an Oscar for
best music.
Personally, I prefer the version done by Chet Baker but
Frank Sinatra’s role in the songs popularity is also quite
significant. My personal favourite swingers’ era
performance is by Paul Anka for “Put Your Head On My
Shoulder” which I feel has a better look and feel especially
with the audience reactions and the fade-ins and zooms
on his face.
4. DIGI-PAK & HOMEPAGE
I want the digi-pak to be of photos on set with the cigarette and
him playing the trumpet. For the website homepage, I want it to
be in black and white.
