2. Process
• Today I looked at some sports magazines and a Forbes one. It
widened my knowledge of magazines. Having thought about what
features in each of the magazines appealed to each of their desired
audiences, I think I have a broader idea of what I will need to
include in my final production to appeal to an audience. I have an
idea what colours I will use if I have a sport focus to my magazine,
but I am currently unsure if I shall. The power of celebrities on the
front of some of these magazines will definitely draw in the
audience and build the audience with fans of the individual and
came to hear of the magazine only through the celebrity.
• At this point, I have very few ideas what I wish to do in terms of
topic. Very few ideas have currently come to mind, but for my
research I'm just looking for things that I would consider reading (I
don't read) and maybe one of which may give me an idea.
3. Process
• Coming into this week I had absolutely no idea of what I
wanted the topic of my magazine to be, so a lot of time was
spent on my Mood Board. The majority of the mood board
consists of sportsmen who I (for whatever reason) look up
to, there are also a couple things, such as the cars and Elon
Musk which symbolise money and business, something else
I take an interest in. The idea behind it was to try work out
a topic I can talk about in the magazine by looking at all of
my interests, and use the links between them to pick my
topic. I did this because I had absolutely no idea what I
wanted/needed to do, I probably spent too much time on
this task but ultimately I think it was necessary as it allowed
me to decide what the topic of my final production would
be
4. Process
• This week I have started by looking at other magazines and
then created an example magazine on the theme of
football, including a front cover page and a double page
spread. It was very simple, all the text taken off BBC and
the images slapped on, but I was experimenting with some
of the ideas that I had in my head and tried seeing what my
photoshop ability allowed me to do. Later in the week I
have managed to produce my proposal, which is a fitness
magazine and the main article I will be featuring on the
double page spread will be about winter training. Mainly
because I have seen lots of posts about winter training and
know multiple people who do lots of exercise and all when
its warm out, but don't do anything when the weather is
bad.
5. Process
• The start of this week involved writing an article on winter training,
which will be on the double page spread. This process started with
looking at already written articles, but then using the information I
had remembered in the final "article", the logic to this being, if I
couldn't remember it then it wasn't important to me or my article. I
also used the information I had remembered to try avoid using the
exact same wording as other articles online. Once I had my article, I
added it into an InDesign file and tried getting the formatting so the
text would continue between pages and go around the image which
will be in the middle of the double page. This was done with an
example image, which can be replaced with my image once I have
them. I was hoping to have my images by this point, but up until
this point I've lacked the ideas for what I want as I wanted to add a
christmassy element to the photos, or at least a Christmas-y photo
due to the fact it is actually December.
6. Process
• Over the past week I have adjusted the text on
the front cover as well as some of the wording in
the article. Then I got the photos, spent a while
editing them. Due to the fact I normally film as
opposed to take videos, I did my photos on the
greenscreen (now I know I should've done them
on white) and so I struggled with removing the
background green from the edges of my model's
body and in between his hairs, but overall I think
my photos look very good.
