2. OVERVIEW
• The ‘client’ is an InformationTechnology Service Provider company, serving the
industry since 2002
• The Department worked with Microsoft Gold Certified Partner Atlas Systems
to completely refresh its IT and network systems
• The project included migrating to Microsoft® Windows Server™ 2003,
Microsoft® Active Directory® and Microsoft® Exchange Server 2003
3. CHALLENGES
• The Department’s existing technology environment was causing frequent
downtime
• Support was hard to find and it was difficult to integrate third-party
applications
• Staff satisfaction with IT systems was below 30%
4. SOLUTION
• Developing an entirely new desktop standard operating environment
(SOE)
• Refreshing or re-imaging approximately 2,000 PCs and 300 laptops
• Upgrading storage Windows 2000 to Windows 2003 Servers
• Installing new high-capacity servers at all locations
• Completing a full Active Directory Site-Site connection at nine sites
• Integrating 3rd Party Application and Portals into Active Directory
• Publishing printers in the network in region wise
• Migrating away from the existing client operating system platform
5. RESULTS
• Staff satisfaction increased from below 30 percent to more than 80 percent
• Achieved 3rd Party application integration and enabled. seamless support
and reduced cost on IT support
• Stable, reliable environment
• Adequate support available
