6. About
Mr. Kenny
“It’s all a matter of time and cost...And the way
you plan,” Mr. Kenny stated. Mr. Kenny, from
Penang, has been in the construction industry
from the year 2000, so that makes it about 15
years. He graduated at Universiti Teknologi
Malaysia (UTM) Johor, with a Diploma in Civil
Engineering and a Degree in Civil Engineering.
After he got his diploma, he worked part time
as an assistant engineer. It got busier after he
decided to continue his studies in Degree. He
worked from Monday to Friday and studies on
Saturday and Sunday. Basically, he had no
weekends for 5 years. 15 years ago, Mr. Kenny
became a civil engineer in Penang. He worked
with the government under the company WCT
Holdings Berhad. In this company he got to
work overseas in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Qatar.
His projects with this company involve in
making Formula 1 racetrack
Mr. Kenny’s role as a civil engineer is involving in
tender. There are two processes in tender: the first
one is commercial and financial. His responsibility
is getting the projects and knowing where the site
office and workers headquarters is. The second
part is the technical part. This is where Mr. Kenny
analyze and make logistics plan, such as figuring
out where to put the tower crane and how many.
He began working with Crest Builder in 2013. For
these past 2 years in this company, he was involved
with tender again.
Mr. Kenny loves to explore new things.
He likes challenges. He told us that
teamwork is the most important part
in his work. If there were any problems
regarding the project, they would all sit
down and discuss it together until
everyone is satisfied. He said that the
work wouldn’t be as tough or stressful
if you love it. “Once you have the
passion, you don’t care.”
“CHALLENGING.
Once you have the
passion, you don’t
care.”

7. The Awesome
Celcom Tower
One project that Mr. Kenny is involved in is the
CELCOM Tower. This particular project is
currently ongoing and will be located in
Petaling Jaya. The CELCOM Tower has been
under construction since the end of November
2014. Upon the completion of the tower, it will
become CELCOM’s Corporate Headquarters.
The expected completion date of construction
is around the end of August, 2016.
Taking 19 months estimated
before completion, the end
product of this ongoing project
will be a 33 floor, glass exterior,
futuristic like building costing a
staggering 90 million MYS. In this
project, Mr. Kenny will be in
charge of all technical issues if
faced with any. From what Mr.
Kenny has shared with us about
the CELCOM Tower, everything
seems to be in order and smooth-
flowing without any speedbumps
in the way of construction. Most
important is that nothing much
has come up to delay the
construction process.

One other project that Mr.
Kenny was involved in is
the ALAM SANJUNG
building. Mr. Kenny was the
one doing the tendering
and was also in charge of
the technical issues.
The ALAM SANJUNG building is a
residential building and started in
June of 2013. It took 24 months
from start to finish and and is
now a thriving metropolis-like
building consisting of shop lots,
parks or gardens and apartment
units.
This project was
accomplised on June of
2015, exactly 2 years
after construction
began. The ALAM
SANJUNG building is a
25 level building
costing a cool 128
million MYR. Now fully
booked, with rare
accounts of
apartments being on
sale or to let.

F1 CIRCUIT

One of Mr. Kenny's proudest accomplishments and
biggest projects will be the F1 Grand Prix Racetrack in
Abu Dhabi. Now known as The Yas Marina Circuit. Being
used for well-known F1 racing ever since 2009, after
Formula 1 first appeared in Abu Dhabi in 2007.
Mr. Kenny at that time being
under WCT, was again, under
technical issues and QA/QC
(Quality Assurance/Quality
Control). With being the largest
permanent sports venue lighting
project in the world, means
coming in with a cost amounting
to 4.2 Billion MYR.
