development of a person in weight,
age, size and habits.
• Quantitative in nature.
• Can be measured.
• Not lifelong process, goes till
maturity.
• Structural changes takes place like
height, weight, size, age.
• Accurate measurement is possible.
3. Maturity :-
• Highly related to heredity/ biological aspect.
• Ability to respond to the environment in an appropriate
manner.
• Comes according to age and time.
4. DEVELOPMENT :-
• Systematic changes which leads an individual from
dependency to self reliance through out his lifetime.
• Can be assessed or observed.
• Goes from womb to tomb / conception to death.
• Individual grows physically, mentally, emotionally
etc.
5. • Cannot be reversed.
• Changes due to tiredness doesnot get counted in
development.
• Modification is possible.
• Development is both quantitative (structural) &
qualitative (functional).

• All aspects of development cannot be included in
