Basic requirement of adapting and adjusting
oneself to the environment is information.

Those who are hierarchically superior in the
family, society, organization initiate
communication.
For the purpose of informing their
subordinates or for the purpose of telling

6. Influence or persuasive
According to Berlo (1960) the sole purpose of
communication is to influence people.
Persuasive function of communication is to
induce people, is extremely important for
extension in changing their behavior in the
desirable direction.
7. Integrative function:
Integration or of continuously offsetting any
disintegration at the interpersonal or at
organizational level.
This helps to maintain individual, societal or
organizational stability and identity.
8. The index of communication may not always
be a positive reaction.
Therefore, it is essential that the
transmission of facts or information is carried
in such a manner that the meaning intended
and the use of message is understood by the
communicates so that is become a two way
process.
