2. A news agency is an organization that
gathers news reports and sells them to
subscribing news organizations, such as
newspapers, magazines and radio, television
broadcasters.
A news agency may also be referred to as a
wire service, newswire, or news service.
3. News Agencies were created with the single
aim. Initially to enrich newspapers with a
wide variety of news events happening
around the world.
the agencies were meant to provide the
news items only to newspapers, but with
the passage of time the rapidly developing
modern mediums such as radio, television
and Internet too adapted the services of
news agencies.
4. 1846:- Association Press [AP] was the first
news agency in the world. Founded in New
York in the U.S. as a not-for-profit news
agency.
1849: Wolff in Germany.
1851:- Reuters was founded in England.
1907:- United Press Association by E. W.
Scripps.
1909: -International News Service by
William Randolph Hearst.
1925: Telegraph Agency of the Soviet Union
[TASS] in Russia.
5. 1944:- Agence France Presse [AFP] was
founded, becoming the third-biggest news
agency after AP and Reuters.
1958: United Press International.
6. 1933: United Press of India.
27 Aug 1947: Press Trust of India (PTI) is
the largest news agency in India. It is
headquartered in New Delhi.
1976: Samachar was founded in February
1976.
1948: Hindustan Samachar or Hindusthan
Samachar is a multilingual news agency. It
was set up in 1948 by S. S. Apte.
