2. WHAT IS A REPRODUCTIVELY
HEALTHY SOCIETY???
A society with its members with physically and
functionally normal reproductive organs & emotionally,
behaviorally normal interactions among them in sex
related aspects.
3. MEDICAL TERMINATION OF PREGNANCY
Intentional or Voluntary termination of pregnancy is called
Medical Termination of Pregnancy or MTP.
MTP was legalized by Govt. of India in 1970 under strict
conditions to misuse it.
MTP is legally permitted under following conditions:
Failure of contraceptive used during coitus/rapes.
When continuation of pregnancy is fatal for the foetus or
mother.
4. SIGNIFICANCE OF MTP
• It helps in getting rid of unwanted pregnancies.
• MTP’s also contributes to decrease in population.
DRAWBACKS OF MTP
• Female foeticide.
• In India it is illegally performed by quacks and
unqualified people leading to death of mother too.

(STD)
Diseases or Infections transmitted through sexual intercourse with infected person are
called STD’s or Venereal diseases or VD or Reproductive Tract infections.

7. SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES STD
• These infections are transmitted through Sexual contacts.
• All STD’s are not curable. HIV/AIDS & Hepatitis B are
incurable.
• Most frequently occurs in the teens going for frequent sex
with multiple partners.
• Can be transmitted through infected persons Blood, semen or
vaginal fluid.
• STD’s may not show obvious symptoms at times.
9. EARLY SYMPTOMS OF STD
Itching, Swelling, Slight discharge,
swelling in genital region.
Complications of STD may lead to-
Abortions, still births PID Pelvic
inflammatory diseases, ectopic
pregnancy, infertility, cancers.
STD can be prevented by- Use of
Condoms during sex, avoiding multiple
sex partners, consulting doctor at an
early stage of infection.
10. INFERTILITY
• It is an inability of a couple to
produce children despite no
protections.
• It may be due to Physical or
congenital disease, drugs,
immunological or Psychological
manifestation.
• Infertility can be cured by
Assisted Reproductive
technologies ART.
