 With the motto of "Space technology in the Service of humankind.” ISRO have launched 82
Indian Satellites
 Since from Aryabatta (1975) to IRNSS-1F(2016), ISRO travelled along with a vast space missions.
 Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Thiruvananthapuram is the largest ISRO base and the first
Indian launch vehicle SLV-3 was launched from here
ISRO SATELLITE SYSTEM AND LAUNCHERS
 ISRO has established two major satellite system:
1. INSAT (Indian National Satellite System)
2. IRS (Indian Remote Sensing Satellites)
 ISRO has successfully developed a complete array of launch
vehicles launchers like:
1. SLV-3( Satellite Launch Vehicle)
2. ASLV(Augmented Satellite Launch Vehicle)
3. PSLV(Polar Satellite Launch vehicle)

 ISRO plans to launch a number of New-Generation Earth Observation Satellites in the near future plus the
development of new launch vehicles and spacecraft(AVATAR)
 Till date ISRO has launched 82 Indian Satellites(33 satellites missions in next two years )
 Plans for Extra-terrestrial exploration such as Moon exploration(Chandrayaan-2), Venus exploration(VOM),
Solar exploration programme(Aditya-1)
 Future launch vehicles such as Reusable Launch Vehicle-Technology Demonstrator (RLV-TD), Unified Launch
Vehicle(ULV) the replacement of the PSLV, GSLV Mk I/II and GSLV Mk III
 SAARC Satellite is a proposed communication-cum-meteorology satellite (December 2016)
 NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) is a joint project between NASA and ISRO (first dual
band radar imaging satellite)
