3. Location: From this image you can tell that it’s set in some form of desert or even a swamp. This could have
something to do with what’s happened almost like they’ve been cornered since desert and mood isn’t an
ideal area for any mech type of machine.
Angle: The angle they’ve used is in-between being inside the mech or standing on the ground. This could
have been used to show the fighting power of the army and that they’ve not affreaid of what’s cornered
them
Effects: The effects that this would have would be that it creates a tense scene for the view making them
think of the outcome of battle.
Use of lighting: The lighting used in the image is only from the sun set to
Composition: the way the
Mise en scene: the way the scene is set shows the army with their main weapon behind them making their
force look extraordinary.
Props: props used would be the mech suits that the characters are inside along with the sword and guns
Colour: colours that are used make the force look dark along with it being set in the sunset that reflects their
armour
Fronts: the font of their logo has been replicated into the way the ship is made behind them
How does it make its audience want to watch: this makes the audience want to watch since they want to see
who they’re going to fight along with how they’ll fight them
9. Location: The location is within a city form first glance so if there’s any combat I could expect a lot of building
destruction
Angle: the angle of him makes him look strong since he’s above the city whilst also making him not the most
powerful since it’s not trying to make him massive
Effects: The effects of the transparent object behind him and mystery to it making the audience question
what it could be and making them imagine how he could beat it
Use of lighting: the effects of the lights on him and compared to the city make him look like the good guy
trying to make the city good
Mise en scene: The way they’ve arranged the picture makes you concentrate on the main character but
when looking you see the city he’s in but further you see what’s inside the clouds
Costume: the costume he’s wearing is similar to the clothing Marty was wearing in back to the future which
makes you think he was some guy who then got dragged into something crazy
Props: the props he has looks like some futuristic gun that he probably uses throughout the anime.
Colour: The colours of him bright yellow, white, and orange compared to the black and gloomy city makes
him look innocent
Fronts: The font of the title looks very simple but works well with the layout
How does it make its audience want to watch: it makes the audience wants to see what could happen and
how he’s in the position of having to defeat the unknown thing behind him
10. Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched products have?
They all have hidden images within them and make you think of what the stories about. For
example the tree in the third picture acts like a barrier between the girls, implying that they’ve
had some form a falling out. Similar to the fourth picture where the boy is bright in front of the
dark city, as if he were an outcast and is all alone within it. Another similarity between two of the
pictures is how the first picture looks like an army ready for a big fight, you can tell there will be
blood shed in the battle since the samurai at the front is in a stance which is meant for killing
unlike a defensive stance or an attacking stance meant for keeping an enemy at bay. This can also
be seen in picture four, the tense face the character is making suggests he has killed before and
knows he’s going to have to do it again.
• What aspects of the research will you include within your on work?
The research I would use is the different clothing of akira since they’re very bold and have
different layers to add aspects of my product to like a badge of a company or a flag to.
Additionally, the design of the leader with his sword shinning at the front of his army from the
first image inspires me to want to do something similar to that, as well as the ship behind the
army has a good design and by using just the structure I could make a good looking capital ship.
For the third picture I could use something like the tree which makes a visual barrier.

– Product Research
• The product research was really easy to find images but hard to find images to go

portrayed the scenes perfectly. Additionally, finding a pre 1990 image was difficult
at first but expanding my research made it easy to find some.
– Questionnaires

it seriously, but that didn’t stop me getting good results. I did have double the

got a few responses so I added it to the blackboard system for the class to
answer. After gaining another four responses I sent it to some old school
friends to see their thoughts which benefited me greatly
