2. Audience Profile
The audience for my game will be primarily more
female due to women making up a bigger percentage
of mobile gamers, the type of game as well as it’s
cuter, more bubbly appearance. The game is target at
teenagers however the style of Match3 games also
strongly attracts the female adults aged 25 to 44.
There isn’t a specific sexuality that the game appeals
to so it can be enjoyed by everyone. Although for the
majority all level of Social Grades can be expected to
be found as a player of this game, it would be more
likely to find users in the C1,C2,D grades. If any
psychographic can be placed on the audience of this
type of game it would be Needs Driven, acting on
impulse and instinct as they ae easily addicted to
continuous interaction with the game. The
gratifications of this product are purely
entertainment.
3. Style sheet
I want to work with the more natural, calmer colours because it’s a
simple yet effective look for this style of game. I’m wanting to look
at colours that are bright without being obnoxious or too pale. It
appeals to a wide range of people as its relatively unbiased.
Something I’ve noticed in my research is that the background are
typically simple but relating to the story/theme without being too
distracting to the player. It’s important to pay attention to the theme
of the game, whether that’s animals, food or insects, it pays to try
and keep the theme running throughout the game where possible.
My game is most likely going to have a simple, more blurred
background with some bigger detail, using more faded colours.
6. Sound Effects/Dialogue
Sound Effects
Some sort of simple, fun music probably made on beepbox
Sound indicating that the menu has been open
Different sounds for each of the power ups
Something like an explosion or pop to indicate that the game pieces have burst
Bright twinkly sound when the player gains a new star rating
Level complete noise
Bubbly sound when points are scored
7. Contingency Planning
Potential Issue Solution
Project is set to be done in early months of
the year, potential weather issues
Make sure that all work is saved on an easily
accessible memory stick so work can be done at
home.
Memory stick failure/ loss Try to save work on more than one device so it
can be recovered if necessary.
Illness/ failure to attend college Make sure that all work is available to work
on from home.
Lack of internet access during the period of time where there is no
available internet access work on things that
don’t require it such as PowerPoints
computer breaking Make sure to have all files backed up on
external storage like a memory stick
running out of time stay late in the evenings, come in on days off
and work from home.
8. Health and Safety
Potential Issue How will the issue be
avoided?
Eye strain Take breaks every 90 minutes at a maximum to
ensure that your not spending too much time in
front of the screen
Headaches If you feel like you have a headache coming,
stop working immediately, drink water and
come back to it after a break.
Hand cramps from typing Make sure to do any hand/finger stretches if
you need to so that they don’t get too tense
during lessons
Hearing Don’t listen to audio at too high a volume and
try to take breaks by doing something that only
requires typing
Fatigue Make sure to continue drinking water and
getting enough food throughout the day and
plan an early night before the next day.
Back Pain Sitting at a desk for too long can cause back
pain so its important to have regular breaks and
do streaches
