1. Tell me in no more than 20 words, what is your
FMP idea?
A lifestyle/fashion magazine or a music band
album cover/music poster work.
Why have you decided to make it? I enjoyed making a magazine last year for my
FMP, and I think I did alright when making it; I do
want to try something different hence why I am
also considering doing some album cover work or
just along them lines
What about your project makes it important to
you?
My project is important to me because with the
type of lifestyle/fashion that I am going to be
portraying will relate to me on a personal level as
it will be the lifestyle I am currently living or want
to live in years to come, and I will portray that
through different styles of fashion.
Outline some of the initial influences on your
idea/work and some potential research targets
(remember, research isn’t just a paper based
activity)
The main initial influence would definitely be I-D
magazine as it was a big inspiration for my last
FMP, and researching about it allowed me to
understand a bit more about different youth
lifestyles. Another influence would be my friends
as they all live different lifestyles and dress
differently so that will have a huge factor on my
magazine.
What effect do you want to have on your
audience when they see your project?
I want my product to make my audience think
twice if they are happy living the life, they want to
live, and I also want it to make them feel secure in
the clothes they are wearing, if they aren’t
comfortable then my magazine will hopefully help
them make a change.
Describe the tone/mood/style of your project
[which production techniques/characteristics are
you employing?]
For my last FMP project I went for quite a minimal
tone with one colour scheme, and no crazy
patterns etc. And I liked the way a minimalistic
tone worked, so for my magazine it will be
minimalistic but effective, and want to match the
colour scheme to the fashion clothing. I want to
incorporate different fashion genres instead of
sticking to one.
Why have you decided to make your project in
this style?
I think portraying different fashion styles opens
another world of how I can really show the way
fashion has evolved, and how its portrayed in the
media at the time vs the present day.
The reasoning for the minimalistic tone is I think
after researching different magazines it makes it
an easy read, and that is what I want; I still want
2. the reader to be engaged but I don’t want it to be
a strain to read it.
