Student Name and Number:
Alfie Jones (403067)
Project proposal title and date:
Our Minds
September – November 2021
Main area of activity:
For this project I am creating a fanzine and I will shoot the images through my iPhone and edit the
product using Adobe Photoshop
Target Audience:
My target audience will be 16–24-year-olds and it will be a unisex fanzine. I have chosen to aim it
at this audience because with mental health affecting younger people more than ever, so by
creating a fanzine on it I will be raising awareness, educating young people and helping people
who are suffering from mental health themselves personally.
Rationale:
Throughout the year I have learnt the basics of photoshop, which helped me with my FMP when I
was making a magazine as I was able to edit the different pages to how I wanted them. I have also
learnt how to write, conduct and produce an interview, which will help me for this project as I plan
on doing three interviews. My previous project was a fashion magazine, so it is different to what I
am creating now but the concept of designing and producing a product for a particular audience is
still the same.
Project Concept:
The concept for my project is to create a fanzine about mental health and to conduct two/three
interviews for it with different pages with bits of information about mental health in general, where
to get help, and expert advice. I have already researched various fanzines; however mental health
fanzines are scarce so for more research I will try and find a mental health fanzine for inspiration. I
will also research about the basics of mental health to educate myself so therefore I am more up to
date with this issue, so when I conduct the interviews, I want to I can use my very basic knowledge
to ask follow up questions so I am not completely in the dark when I am receiving the answers to
my questions. By doing this it will help my project massively as my finished project will look and
read like as if someone who has extended knowledge on this produced this fanzine. By
researching about the background of the interviewees could be good to do too as by knowing
about their career it could help on asking the normal question and following it up with more
questions.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed?
through on-going weekly production reflections whilst I am making the product and then when the
product is finished, I will do my final self-reflected evaluation. This process will help me in the
future projects as it allows me to see what I need to do to improve for next time, and why I need to
improve it.

Week Specific Tasks
1 Production [in/out?] – w/c
11th
ï‚· [out] Conduct interview with Joanne Ward and
Dale Ward + take images of them for interview
page(s). The interviews will consist of talking how
mental health has developed for either the better
or worse, their experience working in this line of
work and how it has changed from different
decades. The images will have a homemade feel
to them as I don’t want them to look like they
have been professionally taken as I think it takes
it away from the magazine.
ï‚· [in] Write up both interviews and create layout for
three interviews.
2 Production [in/out?] – w/c
18th
ï‚· [out] Conduct interview with Jake Mawer and
write it up + take image for interview. The
interviews will consist of talking how mental
health has developed for either the better or
worse, their experience working in this line of
work and how it has changed from different
decades. The images will have a homemade feel
to them as I don’t want them to look like they
have been professionally taken as I think it takes
it away from the magazine.
ï‚· [in] Create front and back cover + design some
pages to go in between interviews. The front and
back cover + pages in between will all be
illustrations instead of images taken by me.
3 Production [in/out?] – w/c
25th
ï‚· [out] Rough notes on the information pages
about the different decades of mental health. I
will research how mental health has developed
throughout the decades, and how different things
that have happened whether they’ve helped or
hindered it.
3. Proposal
3
ï‚· [in] Write up all information and add into the
different pages I designed on the previous week
4 Production [in/out?] – w/c 1st  [in + out] Make any necessary changes to the
fanzine and add any improvements from
feedback from students and teachers.
Be aware which of those weeks are in or out of college,as you may need to plan different tasks around other
work when workingremotely. Budget for approximately 30 hours for production – which is roughly two weeks
of your in-collegetime.
