2. Bhangra music was invented in the 1980s by Punjabi
immigrants who took the folk sound of their home country and
began experimenting by altering it using instruments from
their host country. In a sense Bhangra music is one of the few
immigrant music genres of the world in that it is absent in the
home country. The new genre quickly became popular in
Britain replacing Punjabi folk singers due to it being heavily
influenced in Britain by the infusion of rock sounds and a
need to move away from the simple and repetitive Punjabi
folk music. It signaled the development of a self-conscious
and distinctively rebellious.
3. Locations for Bhangra in the UK
Locations in the UK for bhangra are
normally in clubs or in a small room
when there’s a lot of people dancing,
even if its an song about a break up in a
relationship they will still try make it in a
club scene and make it in a dance hall
music.
Normally they are next to a bar or even
next to a DJ.
4. Locations that we would want to have in
coursework
Our song that we have chose is an
dance song as we would want it to
be in a club where there’s a lot of
people dancing and have that kind of
atmosphere, but due to budget we
can not have an scene like this in
our coursework.
5. Location that we are actually doing for our
coursework
Even though we have not got an budget but we
are going to do the scene in our schools drama
studio, we can have flashing lights and have a lot
of props and decorations to make it seem in to a
dancehall.
