This lecture provides a general feedback to the concept of error analysis and the stages of conducting error analysis, and the sources of errors. ..etc.
Error analysis, a branch of “applied linguistic” developed by Pit Corder in 1960s.
Error analysis is the study of errors made by the second and foreign language learners.”
It is the process to observe, analyze, and classify the deviations of the rules of the second
There are two types of errors
Interlingual errors
Intralingual errors
Errors that occur due to the negative influence the mother tongue on the performance of target language are interlingual errors.
It depends on linguistic differences between the first language and the target language.
Intralingual error is an error that takes place due to a misuse of a particular rule of the target language
Intralingual errors occur due to the faulty or partial learning of target language.
it is, in fact, quite the opposite of Interlingual error, it puts the target language into focus
Stages of Acquisition of first LanguageJoel Acosta
Language acquisition is the process by which humans acquire the capacity to perceive and comprehend language, as well as to produce and use words to communicate. The capacity to successfully use language requires one to acquire a range of tools including syntax, phonetics, and an extensive vocabulary. This language might be vocalized as with speech or manual as in sign. The human language capacity is represented in the brain.

Types of errors
Among the most frequent sources of errors Brown counts
(1) interlingual transfer,
(2) intralingual transfer,
(3) context of learning,
and (4) various communication strategies the learners use
This presentation highlights one of the major theories and hypotheses that dealt with error study. The aim of this presentation is to gain an general understanding or error analysis, its scope, process and significance.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
Model Attribute Check Company Auto PropertyCeline George
In Odoo, the multi-company feature allows you to manage multiple companies within a single Odoo database instance. Each company can have its own configurations while still sharing common resources such as products, customers, and suppliers.
How to Create Map Views in the Odoo 17 ERPCeline George
The map views are useful for providing a geographical representation of data. They allow users to visualize and analyze the data in a more intuitive manner.

How to Make a Field invisible in Odoo 17Celine George
It is possible to hide or invisible some fields in odoo. Commonly using “invisible” attribute in the field definition to invisible the fields. This slide will show how to make a field invisible in odoo 17.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2. Error Analysis
What is EA?
EA is a technique which aims to
describe and explain the systematic
nature of deviations or errors
generated in the learner’s language.
3. Error Analysis
The importance of EA?
2. EA helps to understand the
process of SLA.
3. EA shows statistically the
troublesome linguistic areas or
errors that L2 learners encounter
in learning.
4. Error Analysis
1. The errors give valuable feedback
to both teachers and learners
regarding learner strategies and
progress.
2. The errors also provide
researchers with insights into the
nature of SLA process.
5. EA Assumptions
1. EA is not restricted to errors
caused by negative transfer
from the L1, it covers all types
of errors.
6. EA Assumptions
1. EA, unlike CA, provides data
on real problems and this may
lead to right solutions in the L2
teaching.
7. EA Assumptions
1. EA is not confronted with
problems such as accurate and
explicit descriptions of
languages, compatibility,
knowing the two languages,
etc.
9. EA Methodology
4. Statement of relative
frequency of error types
5. Identification of the areas
of difficulty in the L2
6. Determination of
the source of errors
11. Classification of Errors
Interlingual Errors Intralingual Errors
Or Or
Transfer Errors, Overgeneralization
i.e. Errors due to Errors, i.e. Errors

L1. from L2.
12. Classification of Errors
Interlingual Errors Intralingual Errors

Syntactic
/b/ for /p/ Semantic
*Huda good student
Literal translation:
*You fall from my eye
13. Classification of Errors
Interlingual Errors
Intralingual Errors
Phonological
Syntactic
Count vs. Country
Semantic
*The letter sent to Ali
Idiomatic expressions:
*What’s up Mike!!
14. EA Critics
• Errors may be wrongly
classified between language
tasks. The same error may be
classified as interlingual and
intralingual:
*He intelligent.
15. EA Critics
1. EA stresses only on what the
learner cannot do at a given
point in time. It doesn’t give
any insights into the course of
SLA process.
16. EA Critics
1. Difficulty of error identification
which is mainly due to the
different usages of the L2
norms:
formal vs. informal context
spoken vs. written language
17. EA Critics
• Learners some times adopt the
avoidance strategy not commit
errors. In this case certain types
of errors don’t appear in the L2
learner’s performance.
