4. SET INDUCTION (3 minutes)
Firstly, teacher shows pictures Beauty and the Beast then
followed with the trailer of the movie and then, asks students
to guess today’s lesson.
Teaching aid: Pictures; Characters of Beauty and the Beast,
Video; Beauty and the Beast Trailer
Rationale: To introduce the topic creatively.
PRE-WRITING (10 minutes)
Teacher distributes handouts contain a text about Beauty and
The Beast ‘s short story. Teacher asks students to go through
the passages and identify the arrangement od event of the
story. Next, teacher introduces and explains unfamiliar words.
Teaching aid: Handouts; Beauty and the Beast short story
Rationale: To train students the ability to scan for details
and at the same time, to encourage the students to identify
the main event of the story in order to understand the story.
5. WHILE-WRITING (10 minutes)
Students work in pairs. They are to make a list of important events
and supporting events and write a simple summary. Next, they are
to read them in front of the class.
Teaching aid: Mahjong papers, marker pens
Rationale: To polish students’ writing skill specifically summarizing
skill and at the same time, to promote students’ self-confidence.
POST-WRITING (15 minutes)
Students work in pairs. They are to write a short story of using the
mentioned transportations using their own words in about 50 to 100
words. Next, they are to read them in front of the class.
Teaching aid: Mahjong papers, marker pens
Rationale: To polish students’ writing skill specifically telling story
skill and at the same time, to promote students’ creativity.
CLOSURE (2 minutes)
Teacher sums up the lesson and asks for volunteers to share their
thoughts regarding the lesson and share the moral value learnt
throughout the activity.
