1. Retell the short movie clip in their own words in about 50 to 100 words.
2. Infer an alternate background story of Stephen Strange in a paragraph.
4. SET INDUCTION (3 minutes)
Firstly, teacher screens a short video clip of ‘Dr. Strange’ and allows the students
to go through the lyrics. Then, the teacher asks students to guess today’s lesson.
Teaching aid: Video; ‘Dr. Strange’
Rationale: To introduce the topic.
5. PRE-WRITING (5 minutes)
Teacher screens a slideshow on mini synopsis of ‘Dr. Strange’ and then, chooses a
few students to read the slideshow. Next, teacher introduces and explains the plot
of the movie briefly.
Teaching aid: Slideshow; ‘Dr. Strange’
Rationale: To polish students’ reading skill and at the same time, to introduce the
plot of ‘Dr. Strange’; to retell the video clip.
6. WHILE-WRITING (10 minutes)
Students work in groups of four . They are to retell the short video clip and
synopsis of ‘Dr. Strange’ in their own words in about 50 to 100 words. Next, they
are to read them in front of the class.
Teaching aid: Slideshow; ‘Dr. Strange’ as a reference
Rationale: To polish students’ writing skill specifically paraphrasing skill and at
the same time, to promote students’ creativity.
7. POST-WRITING (10 minutes)
Students work in the same groups of four. They are to infer an alternate
background story of the main character, Stephen Strange. The teacher asks the
students to include the element of ‘ambition’ in the alternate rendition of the
character.
“Was he a successful man? What was he working as? Was he ambitious? What
made him so eager to heal his injured hands?”
They must present their outcome in front of the class.

Rationale: To promote students’ creativity.
8. CLOSURE (2 minutes)
Sum up the lesson by asking the moral values that the students have learnt from
this lesson.
