Learning objectives : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to
a) Understand and respond to oral texts in a variety of contexts.
b) Recognize different types and descriptions of different insects.

Set induction
(5 minutes) Some possible questions that will be ask:
 What types of insects do you know?
 What kind of insects you usually found at your
house?
1. Teacher asks pupils about insects.
2. Introduce the topic to the pupils.
3. Asks the pupils to open their texts
book.
Materials:
 Texts book

Presentation
(5 minutes) Difficult words for the pupils:
1. Legs
2. Wings
3. Buzzing
4. Sting
5. Bite
6. Poisonous
1. Teacher explains to the pupils
about different types of insects and
their descriptions through the LCD
screen.
2. Teacher also explains some difficult
words to the pupils during the
explanations.
Materials:
1. LCD screen

book page 104.
Refer to Appendix A
Practice
(10 minutes) 1. Conversation activity 1. Teacher divides the pupils into pairs.
2. Teacher shows an example of
conversation texts through the LCD
screen.
3. Teacher asks the pupils to read the
texts at the screen.
4. Teacher explains the texts and the
activity to the pupils
5. Teacher asks the pupils to make their
own conversation with their pairs
based on the texts given.
6. Teacher gives 2 minutes for all the
pupils to make and practice their
conversation.
7. Teacher will call out random pairs to
perform their conversation at the front.

Answering the worksheet. 1. Teacher spread the worksheet to
the pupils.
2. Teacher explains the worksheet to
the pupils.

English Year 4 Lesson Plan Date : 8 August 2014 Subject : English Language Class : 4 Arif Day : Sunday Time : 10.45am – 11.15am Enrolment : 29 students Level : Moderate Language Proficiency Theme : World of Knowledge Topic : The insects Investigators Focused skill : Listening & Speaking Integrated skill : Reading, Writing
  • 2. ‘ Learning standards : 1.3.1 Able to listen to and demonstrate understanding of oral texts by: (a) asking and answering questions about types of insects and their descriptions. Learning objectives : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to a) Understand and respond to oral texts in a variety of contexts. b) Recognize different types and descriptions of different insects. Educational emphases : CCTS - answering Wh-Questions Moral values - love all kinds of insects around us. - work in pairs as a team to achieve goals. Multiple intelligences - Interpersonal intelligence, linguistic intelligence Language content : Vocabulary - Description of different parts and types of the insects. Steps/ Time Content Teaching and Learning Strategies Remarks Set induction (5 minutes) Some possible questions that will be ask:  What types of insects do you know?  What kind of insects you usually found at your house? 1. Teacher asks pupils about insects. 2. Introduce the topic to the pupils. 3. Asks the pupils to open their texts book. Materials:  Texts book 
  • 3. Presentation (5 minutes) Difficult words for the pupils: 1. Legs 2. Wings 3. Buzzing 4. Sting 5. Bite 6. Poisonous 1. Teacher explains to the pupils about different types of insects and their descriptions through the LCD screen. 2. Teacher also explains some difficult words to the pupils during the explanations. Materials: 1. LCD screen Refer to the texts book page 104. Refer to Appendix A Practice (10 minutes) 1. Conversation activity 1. Teacher divides the pupils into pairs. 2. Teacher shows an example of conversation texts through the LCD screen. 3. Teacher asks the pupils to read the texts at the screen. 4. Teacher explains the texts and the activity to the pupils 5. Teacher asks the pupils to make their own conversation with their pairs based on the texts given. 6. Teacher gives 2 minutes for all the pupils to make and practice their conversation. 7. Teacher will call out random pairs to perform their conversation at the front. Material: 1. LCD screen Refer to Appendix B Production (5 minutes) Answering the worksheet. 1. Teacher spread the worksheet to the pupils. 2. Teacher explains the worksheet to the pupils. Material: 1. worksheet
