2 Hours 1. Introduction (10 mins):
- Opening Activity: Begin with a word association game.
Instruction:
1. The teacher will divide the class into five groups and each group will be
given set of sentences.
2. Afterwards, the students will provide the definition of the underlined
word in the sentence.
3. Each group will present their outputs in front of the class.
- Process question: How did you come up with those definitions?
2. Context Clues (50 minutes):
- Introduction: The teacher will define and discuss what context clues are and
why they are important in understanding the meaning of unknown words.
- Activity - Analyzing Texts
Instruction:
1. Distribute a passage or text that contains unknown words.
2. With the same groups, students will identify and highlight context clues
that help them understand the meaning of these words.
3. Finally, out from the unknown words, students will create their own
sentence from the inference they had.
- Class Discussion: Each group presents their findings, and the class discusses
the effectiveness of different context clues.

3. Vocabulary Games (45 minutes)
Round 1: Fix Me!
1. The class will be divided into five groups.
2. The teacher will present jumbled letters flashed on the screen/ TV
containing the different vocabulary words.
3. After, the teacher will read the definition and the students will answer
by arranging the letters and write it down in their illustration boards.
4. Corresponding points will be given to the first group to raise the correct
answer.
Round 2: What am I?
1. The teacher will read a sentence containing a context clue.
2. After, students will identify the type of context clues being used in the
sentence.
3. Corresponding points will be given to the first group to raise the correct
answer.
4. Reflection and Conclusion (15 minutes)

- Opening Activity - Word Ladder:
1.1. The teacher will present different words on screen/ TV.
1.2. In a Manila Paper, students will be grouped in 8, will draw a ladder and will
provide/ write down related words/ phrases out from that word.
1.3. In the bottom part of the ladder, students then write a sentence out from one
or two words/ phrases they have created from each given word.
2. Discussion (15 mins)
The teacher will Discuss the interconnectedness of words and introduce the idea
of advanced vocabulary. The teacher will utilize visuals and videos to introduce
advanced techniques for learning and retaining complex vocabulary, including
memory aids and mnemonics. Then, the teacher will explain what memory aids
and mnemonics are, providing examples.
3. Creating Visual Vocabulary (30 mins)
- Visual Vocabulary Cards:
1. The class will be grouped in two.
2. The first group will be given sets of words (10-20 words) and create a visual
representation on an index card.
3. This can include drawings, symbols, or representations that help convey the
word's meaning.
4. Afterwards, the other group should guess the word out from the representation
of other groups.
5. This will be done vice versa.
6. The group with higher points wins the game.

D. Individual Task
Assign a reading task for homework, encouraging students to select a book,
article, or poem of their choice. Ask them to identify and note down unfamiliar
words and reflect on their understanding of the text. Additionally, they should note
