4. History & Development
December 16, 1972
Initialized by the Former
President Chiang Ching-Kuo
April 1, 1973
The preparatory office was
established
January 1, 1974
Inaugurated by the
provincial government
Currently responsible for 128
water plants all over Taiwan
Owning 13 branches offices
from Keelung City to Pintung
County
Divided into 15 departments
& 3 engineering offices
5. Mission
Details on their mission are listed as follows:
Providing public and industrial tap-water for
Taiwan area.
Developing tap water sources, constructing
water supply facilities, and promote the tap-
water popularity rate.
Managing and investing water related
business.
Manufacturing, wholesaling and retailing
food and drink.
Vission, Mission, Philosophy
“What the society desires is
always in our mind”
6. Corporate Social Responsibility
(CSR) Policies
CSR is made due to several reason:
To pursue corporate sustainable
management and development
To fulfill corporate social responsibility,
To meet social needs, norms and
values
To pay back to the society
Basis of CSR:
Economic
Social
Environmental
Corporate governance aspects
Accountability to stakeholders as well
as corporate ethics.

9. Stable Water Supply
Taiwan Water Corporation focuses it’s
project in traditional water sources
(surface water and groundwater)
Development project conducted with
Water Resources Agency for the water
resource development project
Taiwan Water Corporation also improve
water resource on their own by
improving weirs, water intake facilities,
self-developed regional small water
sources.
Taiwan Water Corporation then able to
increase water supply capacity and
backup capacity
Resulting in Increase in Water Supply and Penetration
Rate of Taiwan Water Corporation from 2016-2018
10. Standard for
Drinking Water
Taiwan Water Corporation follows the Drinking
Water Quality Standard for water quality testing
and monitoring in which there are 68 inspection
items every observation
Drinking Water Quality in Taiwan is regulated by
the law which is administered by Environmental
Protection Administration(行政院環境保護署)
and last amended in 2017

11. Energy Consumption
Liyutan Reservoir in Miaoli
County, Taiwan
(鯉魚潭壩苗栗縣台灣)
In 2018
963.8 million kWh
Reasoning:
TWC was working on Banxin Project II
In a normal condition, clean water is
purchased from Taipei Water
Department & Central Region Water
Resources Office (Liyutan Reservoir) →
Gravity
But more water is supplied from Fong-
Yuan Water Treatment Plant → More
power for raw water extraction
12. Green Energy

For the execution of water purification, water supply, water distribution, and engineering supervision and design, there are 13 branches and 3 region engineering offices.
integrated management, divisional operations
Article 14 of Articles of Association, TWC has a total of 15 directors and 5 supervisors
27 water treatment plants, 41 services centers, 55 operations stations, 1 management center and 3 pipeline teams.
There are a total of 359 units company-wide and the division of functions includes water purification, water supply, distribution and sale of water, and construction supervision.
Water Supply increased for the last three years from 2016 - 2018
TWC works on keep increasing the water quality inspection through quality control system and the drinking water quality standard can be seen from the website but don’t need to show just tell
Electric consumption of Taiwan Water Company in 2018 reached 963.8 million kWh which increased from 2017. electric consumption increased as TWC was working on the Banxin Project II, clean water is purchased from Taipei Water Department and that Central Region Water Resources Office in which water intake is from Liyutan Reservoir however more water was facilitated by Fong-Yuan Water Treatment Plant which requires power for raw water extraction
5 spots have been installed with the solar panels for PV power generation equipment in which are Kaotan Water Treatment Plant in Daliao, Linnei Water Treatment Plant in Yunlin County, Gong-Yuan Water Treatment Plant in Chiayi City, the utility storage tank of Chung-Lun Pumping Station of Tainan Water Treatment Plant and Yong Kang Water Distribution Center that produces 6370.48 kWp and estimated annual rental income of NTD 5.29 million
In accordance with government’s Renewable Energy Promotion Policy, Taiwan Water Company install solar panel on top of the roofs of utility storage tanks
Sustainable management is one of the objective to be achieved by Taiwan Water Company. TWC then introduce ISO Environmental Management System (EMS) in 2006 to incorporate environmental management practices for water plants with international standards (ISO 14001 Verification Standard)
Raw water source is mainly located upstream, places with less human population, in order to reduce contamination. The main source of water for Taipei City comes from the Xindian Creek. There is a dam built called Feicui Reservoir.
Water Intake
Water is taken from water source and pumped into a water purification facility.
Water Purification
The raw water that entered a water purification station is subjected to water purification procedures such as mixing, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration and disinfection.
Distribution Basin and Pumping Station
Water is distributed into several point basins. Currently Taipei Water Department has 92 basins and 60 pumping stations distributed evenly to reach every nook and cranny of Taipei city. Water is transported to houses by large network of pipes. It is carefully monitored in order to control any pressure changes, adjustment of water supplies, and accident prevention.
The water purification process produce wastes that if not handles correctly may contaminate water sources. Currently, Taipei has 5 purification plants and 2 sludge treatment facilities. Zhitan and Gongguan purification plant are equipped with such facility. Zhangxing, Shuangxi and Yangming send their sludge to Gongguan Purification Plant.
For the execution of water purification, water supply, water distribution, and engineering supervision and design, there are 13 branches and 3 region engineering offices.
