Overview of demonstration area
Dubai has long been troubled by the issue of water resources. Tatung leveraged the local
abundant solar resource and humidity condition to assist in solving water irrigation issues.
Solar-generated energy is used for the atmospheric water generator to extract water from the
atmosphere for daily use or agricultural irrigation. The system also collects the status of different
atmospheric water generators, including the stored volume and equipment condition, so that
water may be allocated in advance for farmland irrigation and damage can be immediately
repaired.

Introduction to demonstration site
Goal of demonstration
Because Dubai has long been dependent on groundwater and sea water desalination for
irrigating crops, the surrounding marine ecosystem has been increasingly affected. Continuous
irrigation and intensive farming cause the soil to be waterlogged and desalinized so that parts
of the farmland can no longer be cultivated. Dubai has been aggressively involved in energy
resource, water resource and agricultural development in order to search other additional water
resources. The integration of both solar energy generation and the atmosphere water generator
in the advantageous local solar and humidity conditions produces water not only for agricultural
irrigation (greenhouse), but also for the livelihood or industry. This system is even more suitable
for the alternative energy development plan in the Middle Eastern.
Demonstration systems, equipment, and functions
20 kW independent photovoltaic system and 200 L atmosphere water generator at the
Agricultural Development Center, Ministry of Environment and Water, Dubai were established.
The effective solution of both energy saving and water production is achieved by stored energy
from photovoltaic system in the daytime and operating atmosphere water generator in the
nighttime.

sunshine duration, high temperature, high humidity, and heavy sandstorms.
b. Winner of the “Systems Integration Exported Award” at 2016 Taiwan Smart City Summit
& Expo.
