2. Primary Research: Primary research is new research, carried
out by yourself. It can involve questionnaires, surveys or
interviews with individuals or small groups.
Secondary Research: Pre-existing research which can be
collected by anyone and is applicable to the questions you are
attempting to answer.
Qualitative Data: In depth research which contains a high
amount of detail- is usually presented in word format and is
harder to process.
Quantitative Data: Lower detail research which often costs of
numbers and figures- can be processed easily.
DEFINITIONS:
3. Research is essential to any project in order to ensure an
element of success will occur upon its completion. This in
particular applies to media products since without adequate
research being carried out there is a high risk of the project
not being successful as a result since it could be ill received
and or not recognised by media audiences as being what it is.
The most important aspect of research within media is
identifying key conventions of media products that can be
followed in order to make sure they product which you are
producing is recognisable and well received by the audience.

FORMS OF RESEARCH CARRIED OUT (A2)
6. The most useful research for my production was
looking at the conventions of teaser trailers within
the action genre as to gain an idea of what makes
successful actions genres fit into the genre and be
recognisable as being within the action genre by the
audience. Without this research it is very likely that
my production would not have felt like an action
teaser trailer and would have ultimately failed to fit
into the genre as a whole.
WHAT RESEARCH WAS MOST USEFUL?
7. I could use more extensive video research in
order to diversify my knowledge of the
research I was collecting through collecting
having a more broad understanding of each
subject.
HOW COULD DIGITAL MEDIA BE USED
MORE IN RESEARCH?
8. “the use of imagination or original ideas to create something”
WHAT IS CREATIVITY?
9. Both my AS and A2 productions were of a highly conventional
nature since we chose to attempt to follow key conventions in
both productions in order to ensure that our products were
both enjoyable and recognisable by the audience in
accordance to Neales Repetition and Difference theory. For
this reason many ideas are not unique, but the way in which
they are presented can be seen as being creative.
