1. Photographs
I took a variety of photos which I believe
would best suit my Hip-Hop/R&B magazine.
Paying attention to lighting, the models
being used, clothing and poses.
2. Front Cover
I was most inspired by an issue of XXL an H-p-Hop magazine which front cover
featured Nicki Minaj and Drake. It consisted of the two artists challenging the
conventions of ‘The Rule of Third as it took up the majority of the three thirds. I
wanted to recreate this as I felt it worked well in capturing the attention of the
audience. I also wanted to recreate the look of artists, New Boyz, I felt my two model
would do this and genuinely resembled a Hip-Hop duo.
I also took a pciture of another model as to which he would feature another aricle in
the magazine, the use of this would give readers a wider insight as to what cna be
found in my magazine.
3. Contents Page
As a magazine reader I believe the contents page is easily read is there are
limited/smaller sized images used. I believe this allows you to easily
read/identify text and navigate through the magazine to the desired page. The
images I used referred to that of the main article featured on the front
cover, cover lines and additional stories.
Again the styling of my modes reflected my genre magazine and its features.
4. Double-page Spread
This image continued the use of artists found on the front cover and styling. This
allowed a flow and relatively easily identifiable look from the front to the double
page spread. Again the models represented my genre magazine and pose/attitude
linked with the article as they were appealing to the audience and making a
statement as to what they are about.
