1. Masiglat, Dana Margaret C. EDUC 190/WFR
200846574 Instructor: Mr. Noel Feria
Instructional Plan 23 July 2010
I. Lesson
•Introducing the Subject and the Predicate
II. Class Description:
•The class consists of 35 1st year students studying the English language.
•The students are already knowledgeable on matters regarding basic sentence formation.
III. Objectives
At the end of this lesson, the students shall be able to:
•explain what are the main parts of a sentence,
•distinguish which part of a sentence is the subject or the predicate, and
•construct their own sentences and applying variations in basic sentenceformation.
IV. Procedure
Motivation
•The teacher will have to group the class into 45.
•He/She will have to give each group with words which are cut out from different colored papers. The
words with the same color would construct a sentence if properly put into order.
•Each group will be given at least three (3) sentences to form and will be instructed to post the answers on
the board to proceed to the discussion of the lesson.
Lesson Proper
•The teacher should first relate the activity to the lesson for the day as well as to help the class correct the
mistakes on and/or explain their answers.
•Discussion
1.Define the terms included in the lesson which are mainly the subject and predicate. Explain
the use/function of each of the terms used.
2. 2.Further the discussion by presenting a simple explanation like breaking a sentence into its
parts or by word. This will help the students see clearly the distinction between the subject and the
predicate.
3.As the lesson moves on, introduce new concepts like other ways of forming sentences such as
when the predicate would precede the subject in a sentence. Invite questions for clarifications.
4.Present other examples to the students.
5.Intriduce a learning exercise to the students. Give them individual worksheets which contain
certain images. Instruct the class to construct at least three (3) to five (5) sentences which are
related to the images on their worksheets. Below is a sample image which may be included in a
worksheet.
AttributionShareAlike 2.0 Generic
6.After finishing, allow them to exchange their works with their seatmates to help each other in
checking the works of one another. Guide the process of making corrections so as to keep track of
the students' understanding of the lesson.
V. Generalization
Summarize the results from the motivational activity and from the individual exercise given to the class.
Explain the concepts which need further specifications/clarifications.
VI. Assignment
