B.1 Motivation
The teacher will let the students read the again the “The Golden Age
of Comics”. After reading the will be divided into four (4) groups. Each
group will give a summary of the academic text and will select
representative to report their answer.
1. What are the techniques you use in summarizing the academic
text?
2. Is it useful to make an outline before summarizing the academic
text?
B.2 Activity
On a piece of paper the students will brainstorm, what is the meaning
summary, its purpose, what and when to summary and how to
summarize.

What is summarizing?

What is the importance in summarizing academic text?
B.5 Application
Based on their previous group, the students will summarize the
academic text on page 20, “Wrigley’s Chewing Gum”. They will report
their answer to the class.

Instruction: (Essay) In a 1/2 sheet of paper. Guide questions:
1. What is summarizing? 2 pts
2. What and when to summarize academic text? 3 pts.
3. What are the purpose of the summary? 6 pts.
4. How to summarize academic text? 4 pts.
