At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

disciplines in their daily lives.

B.1 Motivation
Let the learners consult the origin of the following words:
a. cheese f. chicken
b. camp g. carpenter
c. school h. sky
d. religion i. cat
e. beef j. altar
B.2 Activity
The learners will be group into 5. Each group will be given terms to be
discussed to the class. Group 1 – Old English & Celts, Group 2 – Middle
English & Dialect, Group 3 – Modern English & Case, Group 4 – Anglo
Saxons & Standardization, Group 5 – Mutually intelligible language.
The learners will do their research from text entitled “A Brief History of
English by Paul Roberts. They will give the meaning of those terms and
present it to the class. They will be given 30 minutes to do the task.

B.4 ABSTRACTION
Discuss and differentiate the following terms Old English, Middle English,
Modern English.
Where did the English language start?
Is it important to use English language in our country? What about in
school?

Based on the same group, the learners will play a “Pinoy Henyo”
These are the following terms to be guess.
Old English, Middle English, Modern English, Anglo-Saxons, Indo-
European language

Instruction: In a 1/4 sheet of paper. Answer the following:
