A Reaction to the Video on the Revolution OS/Go Open
As already said in the video, the highlight or the main concern there is the
clashing campaigns of the open source versus the free source connection/networking.
However, the issue and the tryst do no merely exist in this field only, it was also a clash
of the two well-renowned software companies- Microsoft and Linux.
In the video, both open sourcing and free sourcing were given prompt
consideration and explanation with regards to both their boons and banes. And with
much deference to the latter, a lot more of enlightening has occurred rather than mere
discussion of what it is. The goal of free source campaign is for humans to freely
create, explore and share in their community or their social network without risking the
intellectual property rights of developers, which truly puts everyone in much greater
advantage and better security. However, this is the point that most of us do not see, or if
we do, we cannot understand nor try to do so.
Yes, the campaign does really seem to be too idealistic, or tends to be under the
communist perspective of sharing. And this kind of belief and, perhaps, we can call it a
'black propaganda,' really does bring great amount of negative impact on the
prospective patrons of the campaign or the host company since the ideology that is
associated with it is an off for the majority of people. Most of the time, clients/users tend
to just go with the ever-existing trend of using an open source which has been
established and endorsed by the top software company which has already established
connections and support that will suffice for the competition between the two campaign
2. matters, and including business matters. It has to be clear also that in this competition,
communism cannot take part on such a capitalist-tendency of the issue. The things, the
people who are involved are not just mere system developers or programmers who
would think what is best for the client, there is also business involved which entirely
debunks the existence a communist perspective.
Free source is really worth taking a shot when choosing what kind of network
system would be handy and practical. Its features are interesting and are rationally
correct, but since the company which backs it up, Linux, is still secondary as compared
to a larger and a longer established one which is Microsoft, the campaign would still not
be able to easily surpass its counterpart. After all, in the system that the society belongs
to now, “it's all just good business, it's just a good business.” Well, that is just a personal
inference. :)
