• Because I want to do an
alternative R&B song I feel that
the type of artist will be
someone who fits the
alternative genre, this can also
be described as Hipster or indie
with a mixture of funk and soul,
such as:
-Frank Ocean
-FKA Twigs
-Kitty Cash
-Janelle Monáe
-The Weekend

randomly generated pages to come up with possible artist
names

5. Using the randomly selected names I
decided to apply a selection process
where I would mix names to create
three partially unique names that could
potentially be my artist name. This way I
wouldn’t have to make them up myself,
but it would still allow the name to have
a slight authenticity to it.

6. Visual Ideas for my Video- colour and
lighting • A key part of the genre of
music I am looking at is the
fact that the majority of the
videos tend to have a
deeper meaning below the
surface and also display
surreal features. So for my
video I want to potentially
have a juxtaposing display
of bright psychedelic like
colours, inspired by (Archan
Nair’s mixed media
paintings) with dark and
low key lighting at times so
to display the darker themes
in my chosen songs.

inspirational had a ‘retro’
look to them which I hope
to apply to mine.

8. Visual Ideas for Music video
I want my artist to be the main
aspect of my music video like the
ones in these. These examples
also show the use of colour to
mirror the themes in the songs.
The ‘one take’ video idea, used
in Frank Ocean’s Novacane
video and FKA twig’s Two weeks
video is also something I want to
attempt to replicate for my music
video as it makes it seem more
visually pleasing and interesting
to the viewer.
