2. What creative decisions did you have to make to solve
problems and how did this depart from your original plan?
• In the initial pre-production planning, we intended on using
the vocal track we recorded, and separate it in certain
sections in order to add the sound effects required. When we
first started off we struggled to get ideas for the advert, after
a few minutes and some rewrites we did eventually produce a
script. After record, we began the editing what we had and
added the sound effects, backing music and adjusted the
voices a little we eventually had our advert done and dusted!
3. Both individually and working with others how did you work
and what challenges did you face?
• I believe that I worked well in my group, we worked together
to get pass problems such as voice recording and making the
adjustments to the necessary to our recording.
• The recording which we made was originally 31 seconds
long, so in the editing stage we had to work on making the
recording short but still had all the necessary requirements to
make a good radio advert, eventually we where to do thing
making our finally project.
4. What advertising techniques did you use to hook your
intended target audience?
• To hook the target audience we use techniques such as
repetition and adding backing music to engage the
audience, by making the our vocal recording the key part, we
where able to make a clear advert, which in turn mean that
we could make a suitable and engaging recording.
5. How did technology enable the creative process? Was it
difficult to use any of the equipment and did you learn any
skills?
• Using the software was fairly simple once we had the basics in
place, such as our recording and backing music. The only
problem we had was fine tuning the voice an d getting the
volumes of the sound effects just right.
6. What conventions of radio adverts have you used or not
used and why?
• In our radio advert we have use the following conventions:
• Repetition
• SFT (Sound effects)
• Backing music
• By using these conventions we had been Able to produce an
effective recording that engages the target audience. By using
these conventions, the name of the shop ‘waves’ will still in
the audiences head and can a associate the SFT and the
backing music with the shop itself.
7. What or who are you representing in your advert and how?
• In our advert we have presented two people, the first is a
voice over which askes and answers the questions and
provides the information on were the shop is located, the
second person represents someone who isn’t “prepared for
the beach” and needs to get some more stuff. this connects
with the audience as they may also not be prepared for the
beach either.
8. What feedback did you get and did this help you realise
anything about your product?
• The feedback we received from the rest of the class should us
where we had made some minor mistakes and where it could
have be improved, for example, in the recording stage of the
adverts we could have added more enthusiasm to make a
more intriguing advert
• Also, the background music could have been a little more
quieter as it was slightly distracting from what we were
saying.
