How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages
1. HOW DID YOU USE MEDIA
TECHNOLOGIES IN THE
CONSTRUCTION AND
RESEARCH, PLANNING
AND EVALUATION
STAGES?
2. PHOTOSHOP
Above – Edited Version
used in video
Right – Original Image
In the production of my Digipak, Poster and even for props in my Music Video; Photoshop has
been a key part as I have used this program to edit and manipulate the photos and design of the
produces I’ve created for my A2 Coursework.
With the experience I have had using this program in my other subjects, such as graphics and art
and in previous produces I have been able to use my skills in Photoshop to create the realistic and
convincing polaroid pictures I have used as props in my music video; these pictures show what the
band was and how the main protagonists relationship with his band members has changed.
They editing and manipulation of the photos was relatively easy once I had
decided on the look I was going for. The plan was to add effects and filters to
the existing images to create the impression that these were old photos, I have
done this by placing orange filters over the image to make it seem that the
polaroid has lost its colour.
I believe have successfully done this and I am pleased with the results on film,
but if I could go back and redo this, I would definitely attempted to make both
the photo I have taken and edited more realistic as when not on camera, it is
obvious that they have been doctor to this effect.
3. INDESIGN
Original Digipak Design
For the Construction of my Digipak I have used the template supplied to us by our teachers with the exact measurements
for the size of the Digipak along with how each panels had to be placed including the spins.
Being the first time I have used this program I was a little lost when I began, mainly the biggest problem was finding my
way round the program itself but once I had my bearings I found it relatively simple; also remembering to change the size
of the frame before changing the image itself became annoying.
I found the fact that I could first edit each panel in Photoshop were my strengths lie and then import them into InDesign
once they were ready was really useful and easy to preform.
Being the first time I have used this program, I did need some help in
using InDesign to begin with, but as I learn the how to use the program
properly I think that I have used it to successfully create an effective
product for my coursework.
4. SONY VEGAS
Editing of Music Video Screenshot
Again I have come back the Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11.0 editing program to create the
main product of my A2 media coursework.
Using this software has become relatively easy for me as I have used this exact program to create videos
for previous projects; such as the Father & Son opening scene I made with both Hayden Yau and Taryn
Mruk for my AS course, along with other videos such as the opening sequence analysis of Underseige 2
and the Artist-to-Artist video featured on my blog this year.
By continuous usage of this program I have been able to greatly improve my skills and use them in the
editing stage of this project.
As I have said, my skills over the past 2 years have greatly
improved as I have learn how to use this program properly and
to the best of my abilities as the quality of the produces I have
made are notably better.
5. PREZI
Through the uses of this program I have been able
to create better and more dynamic Prezis that are
more audience may find more engaging.
Through past experience in previous years,
projects and subjects, such as English were we
created several presentations analysing what we
have read, I have almost mastered the program
and have learn a great deal about how I can make
more interactive and exciting presentations and
evaluations for the audience.
SURVEY MONKEY
The use of this program has been a big help in carrying
out the surveys required form this project, both in the
research stage of this course and I the evaluation.
Having the ability to create the questionnaires in this
program and then send out them emails asking people
to fill out the online questionnaire, once they have done
so and submitted their answers it is recorded in on the
Survey Monkey site giving me easy and quick access to
the results.
I have found the use of this program really easy and
simple, as I as able to first type the questions into a
word document and make any necessary changes before
creating and emailing the final questionnaire.
