Reactive Attachment Theory Essay
Oppositional Defiant Disorder, or ODD, is a behavioral disorder occurring in childhood. This disorder
is characterized by a child defying authority (parents, teachers, etc.) and an overall angry/irritable
mood. Oppositional Defiant Disorder can impact the child s social relationships both at home with
their families and at school with their teachers and fellow classmates. Attachment theory, which looks
at how well parents provide emotional security for their children, is a useful framework for
understanding the underlying causes of ODD. Through the lens of this theory, ODD is not the result of
a child s behavior or their biology, but instead the child s faulty attachments to their parents or other
guardians. This article will give an in depth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a whole, attachment theory investigates the process in which children form ties to caregivers that
vary in terms of the security of the bond (Kerns, Tomich, Aspelmeier, Contreras 2000, p. 614). Better
bonds between parents and children lead to better attachment of the child to the parent. If a child is
attached well, they will ...use the primary caregiver as a secure base from which to explore [their
environment] and, when necessary, as a haven of safety and a source of comfort (5) (Benoit 2004, p.
542). Parents need to be available to children as a source of security, but at the same time let their
children develop independence to explore their surroundings and make choices for themselves. If
children do not receive the freedom from parents to make choices independently, they will struggle
with decision making later in life because they had not had the chance to learn this skill in childhood.
There are four attachment styles to be discussed in this section: secure attachment, insecure avoidant
attachment, insecure resistant attachment, and disorganized

The Impact Of Melting Glaciers On The Environment
The argument s main idea is that melting glaciers may have a negative impact on the environment, but
they are allowing scientists to make new discoveries. The author, Alan Burdick, develops this
argument by explaining that glaciers are melting at a rapid rate, which causes disruptions in the
ecosystem. However, scientists are able to find artifacts that were once frozen in the glaciers. These
artifacts would have been unavailable to scientists if the glaciers had not started melting. Many of the
ancient items are in perfect condition because they were frozen in the ice. One example of a recent
finding is a wooden box that is believed to have stored food. The article shows how these artifacts
help scientists have a better understanding of the

Why Franklin Was A Thoroughbred Renaissance Man
During Benjamin Franklin s illustrious 84 years of life he achieved success that seems practically
unachievable today. Franklin found success in business, going from a teenager traveling colonial
America looking for work as a printer, to building his own printing empire. Aside from business,
Franklin also had a knack for inventing. He developed products such as the Franklin stove, bifocals,
lightning rod, and the glass harmonica. Include the fact that he was also heavily involved in politics, is
one of the founding fathers of our nation, and also one of the most intelligent men of all time, and it is
easy to see that Benjamin Franklin was a thoroughbred renaissance man. It is one thing to know about
the story of Benjamin Franklin, but it is completely different to understand the potential benefits of
following his way of life. This essay will focus on the benefits that Franklin s story could have on the
typical college student. College is a time of immense personal growth, and what better way to grow
than with the guidance from the author of the American dream Benjamin Franklin. After four short
years, students are let out into the real world so it is important to be prepared. That is why it would be
wise for college students to follow the life of Benjamin Franklin as presented in his autobiography.
Franklin s work ethic, emphasis on personal growth, and frugality are relevant to college students
today, and provide an outline for helping students find success.

Summary Of Abuse At Abu Ghraib
I asked several people, several times, where I could find a copy of the standard operating procedures,
or even rules and regulations, says Frederick. And nobody would ever provide me with any or let me
know where they were. The only thing they would do is just give me a pat on the back and say
everything will be all right (60 Minutes, Abuse at Abu Ghraib) This is Sergeant Chip Frederick, one of
the soldiers that has been convicted of conspiracy, dereliction of duty, maltreatment of detainees,
assault, and indecent acts. He served 8 years in military prison, in Washington D.C. Even though Sgt.
Frederick plead guilty, he claimed that no one involved in the scandal was properly trained, and did
not know the standard Geneva Conventions. We had no support, no training whatsoever. And I kept

When the amount of people being sent to prison increased, the army couldn t keep up with rising
numbers. There was when I left, there was over 900 inmates. There was only five soldiers plus two

Abuse at Abu Ghraib). For every guard there is roughly 128 prisoners. At most United States prisons,
it is supposed to be for every guard there is five inmates. When 60 minutes interviewed Sgt. Frederick,
he was asked about the treatment of prisoners. We learned a little bit of Arabic, basic commands. And
they didn t want to listen, so sometimes, you would just give them a little nudge or something like that
just to get them to cooperate so we could get the mission accomplished answered Sgt. Frederick
(Abuse at Abu Ghraib). Soldiers in Abu Ghraib reported that they needed to sometimes get rough with
the inmates in order to remain in control and make sure the prisoners listened to them (60 Minutes,

Feminist Manifesto
During these last thirteen weeks, I have discovered a lot about myself, not only as a student, but as a
feminist. Before taking this class, I knew that I wanted to be a feminist. I believed that women should
stand up and exercise their rights to be equal to men on every level. Be that as it may, I lacked the
education required to develop my own sense of feminism my feminist manifesto, if you will. When
approaching the topic of feminism, every person needs to ask themselves a list of questions: Who am
I? Who do I want to be? What has influenced me as a person? How can I help? These are the
beckoning questions we, as developing and purposeful human beings, ask ourselves every day, and
these are the questions that will lead each and every person

American Progression
Since the beginning of time people have been on an endless journey for Progress . But what does
progress really mean? When I hear the word progress, I think of an improvement of a specific
condition. Progress is advancing over a period of time and can have positive or negative effects of
some sort. One significant event that led to great progress in human history was the discovery of
America. The founding of America led to progress through the introduction of New World plants to
the Old World, transmission of various diseases and colonization. The Columbian Exchange of crops
between the Old World and the New World is significant in the progression of human history. This
event is important because the introduction of the native New World plants eventually changed the
economy of the entire world. Native New World plants such as tobacco, maize, beans, tomatoes, and
especially the lowly potato eventually revolutionized the international economy as well as the
European diet, feeding the rapid population growth of the Old World (Kennedy and Cohen 14; Ch. 1).
Many of the crops grown around the world today originated in the Americas. New World foodstuff
also helped Africa overcome chronic food ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The transmission of these diseases resulted in progression of human history because it increased
awareness, knowledge and eventually cures for some. However, this progression did not come without
some downfalls. The disease introduced to the New World caused the Indians to die in droves but it
also allowed new cultures to be formed. Disease took more than human life; it extinguished entire
cultures and occasionally helped shape new ones (Kennedy and Cohen 30; Ch.2). The introduction of
Syphilis to the Old World also aided in progression because now we have knowledge about the disease
and today syphilis is nonfatal and can be treated with

2.2 Describe with examples the importance of recognising and responding to concerns about children
and young people s development When looking at children and young people s development it is
important to recognise and respond to concerns to ensure that the child or young person receives the
help and assistance needed. The sooner any issues or concerns are raised the sooner the child or young
person can be monitored and help or assistance given. The following things would cause concern
about a child or young persons development. If the concern was ignored or the problem was left
untreated things could get worse and a delay in help or any treatment needed could mean the outcome
isn t as good as if the treatment was started earlier. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Physically as the child isn t playing at playtime they might not be as physically active as they
previously were. Responding to any concern has to be done in a professional manner meaning that you
don t talk to the parents or carer of the child without first following procedures. You would have to
have an account and a note of exactly what was seen or heard or anything witnessed. You would need
to state why it was a concern to you and the date and time this occurred. You would need to have kept
a log and it must be true and accurate. You would approach the class teacher with your concern. If the
teacher disregards it you would still need to report it as you have a responsibility to that child or young
person. You would report it to the relevant person above the teacher until the concern has been
reported correctly. Once reported the relevant person can help the child appropriately to solve the
issue correctly hopefully getting the child back on course. If you fail to take note and report any
concerns of child development the child or young person s development could be affected in various
areas. Example 2 You may start to become concerned about a child or young person if they start to act
out of character or their behaviour changes. You have a child who in class usually participates well
and is happy, very outgoing and confident but one day they come into class looking sad and is very
quiet.

Essay On Death Of A Salesman A Slice Of America
Death of a Salesman: A Slice of Americana The concept of what constitutes American is a varied as
the people who make up America. Thinking about the global perspective of the concept, the concept
stratifies even more so. The opinion of those who love this country may say that American is apple
pie, fast cars, Friday night football, working hard, owning your own home, and living the American
Dream. The opinion of those who are not necessarily fans of America may point out that we are
materialistic, militaristic, brash, entitled, and greedy. Considering that Death of a Salesman was
written in 1949 in a less globally minded, post world War II economic boom and sense of American
pride, it would seem that the American feel given the play would pertain only to its time in history.
Given the complete context of all the personalities and situations portrayed, however, one can see that
Death of a Salesman is timeless in its interpretation of the American ... Show more content on

In Donaldson s piece, America s Love Affair With Cars, which was ironically published by a Canadian
journal, she points out that Americans are raised to love cars from the very beginnings of life. There
are toy cars that not only are shiny and fun but have working parts, windshield wipers and horns, and
remote controls. Going into young adulthood, it is always the kids in school with the newest, fastest,
and nicest cars that get the best chance at a date with a popular girl or boy. She notes that Clearly, the
automobile has been much more than simply a means of transportation for most Americans. Once man
and woman felt the breeze blowing on their faces as they sped along a road, a passion was created.
The car is just about everything today including a form of art and craftsmanship, a collector s item, a
cultural icon. (Donaldson, 2012) Here in again, we as Americans know that we love our cars, but the
world also identifies this as typically an American

Sexism And The Effects Of Growing Up
Sexism and the Effects of Growing up in a Man s World

Southeastern Louisiana University
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine whether sexism has an effect on the lives of women in
situations such as breastfeeding their child and whether or not people take offense to the sight of
seeing a mother breastfeed her child. I will recruit 100 participants, 50 males, and 50 females, ranging
from ages 18 to 50. I will perform my study using an experimental design where participants are
shown a series of images in a video on a projector screen and they will place the images in one of two
categories, with ten slots open for each category. The next part of my study will be to ask the
participants in an essay question if they would continue, or be comfortable with their significant other
continuing to breastfeed in public after receiving negative feedback from a stranger (See Appendix). I
hypothesize that the majority of the participants will place an image of a mother breastfeeding in a
public setting in a bad deeds category, but will place a picture of shirtless men playing football in the
park in the good deeds category. I expect to come to the conclusion that people are more likely to take
offense to the sight of a woman breastfeeding than to seeing a shirtless man.
Sexism and the Effects of Growing up in a Man s World Sexism has been observed throughout history.
There was once a time where women were denied an education, the

The Iraq War Analysis
In the days following September 11, 2001, Americans faced an onslaught of headlines designed to
generate fear and outrage regarding the terrorist group Al Qaeda and Iraqi leader, Saddam Hussein.
These fears were only heightened when President George W. Bush declared war on Iraq on March 20,
2003, with the intentions of helping Iraqis achieve a united, stable, and free country despite the
tyrannical rule imposed by Saddam Hussein ( George W. Bush: Announcement ). For the next eight
years, Americans lived in an era of anger and confusion regarding the intentions behind the war that
dramatically changed life in the United States. The Iraq War greatly affected American domestic

One relationship that was severely damaged was the U.S. ties to the United Nations. Before the war,
only a small minority of Americans [were] ready to go to war with Iraq without UN Security Council
approval, something they never provided (Kull 569). The United States deliberately defied the wishes
of the United Nations in order to depose Saddam Hussein. The United States made its intentions clear
when the Bush Administration announced that they would circumvent the UN if necessary to depose
Saddam Hussein after being unsatisfied by Iraq s 12,000 page declaration of its weapons program that
was produced in order to clarify the weapon capacity of the nation, deeming it insufficient proof that
there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq (Weathers). This angered many European nations
save Britain, who initially supported the US in its endeavors. Ironically, the U.S. defied the UN to
enforce UN resolutions regarding the harboring of weapons of mass destruction that were put in place
following the Gulf War and proposals put into effect regarding weapons inspection programs in Iraq.
By doing so, however, the U.S. denigrat[ed] it as irrelevant and belittl[ed] its role in reconstruction
efforts after the war (Thakur 3298). Because of the United States actions, a precedent was set in which

The Pactice of Management
The practice of management is very ancient, however the formal study of management is
comparatively new. Management as a proper discipline developed after the tip of the nineteenth
century. Nevertheless it should be admitted that management has been in existence since humankind
became systematized into formal groups. It is very difficult to come up with a definition of
management which could totally satisfy all professionals or skilled people or all management
theorists. For a broad operating definition consider management as an activity that performs certain
functions to obtain the effective acquisition, allocation, and utilization of human efforts and physical
resources to accomplish some goal (Wren 2005, p. 3). Modern management has grown with the
growth of social economics and scientific institution. Nowadays workers do not work only for money.
They work for satisfaction and happiness with sensible living style. These are the most vital issues
now. Modern management explanation (of why something works or happens the way it does) refers to
highlighting the use of well thought out mathematical ways of doing things within the system with
analyzing and understanding the inter relationship of management and staff. Organizational efficiency
and service quality can be increased through the implication of management theories. Today managers
simply do not use a singular theory, infect they use a series of theories depending on the workplace,
purpose and workforce. Still, few

National Honor Society Personal Statement
I have always had an interest in improving the community around us, and would like to be involved in
this role by helping out in the community. By joining NHS, I aspire to enhance some of my skills,
such as ambition, collaboration, and leadership. I hope to increase my initiative to provide service in
the community and to take chances out of my comfort zone. By helping out in the community more
with service projects I hope to improve my collaborative, management and people skills. In addition, I
hope to improve my leadership skills through public service projects. These projects will not only give
me more experience with leadership, but they will also motivate me to help my community and my
peers with their endeavors. I believe that joining the National Honor Society at River Hill will teach
me essential skills for my future, and improve my community.
Learning is the single most important aspect of any school education. Being able to retain the content
and apply the information is much more important than simply memorizing facts. Earlier this year, I
had initially started to take a certain class that would not benefit me in the future, and instead create an
abundance amount of stress for me, as I had no interest in taking that course and was merely taking it
to fit the norms of other students. Soon after, I realized that taking a different class that actually
interested me would be more beneficial, and thus I would be able to focus on my other courses of high
levels. This switch genuinely allows me to develop a much higher level of commitment for my other
classes and help me retain the information for future purposes. A leader takes diligent time in

experiences, especially on how to become an effective leader. Everyday, the attendees acted as leaders

America s Grammar Problem Essay
America s Grammar Problem Growing up we re told repeatedly that, grammar is important, and you
will need it in college. As I sit in these lectures, however, I see that claim hasn t fazed anybody. I sit in
an English class expecting to read these great, well put together papers, and I get the same writing
level I saw my senior year in high school. I should expect this, I mean, no kid is going to magically
learn the rules of writing over the summer. I didn t. It took nine grueling months of an English class
that, quite frankly, was hell on earth to learn most of them. The class was the toughest class I have
ever sat through, and yet, I m blessed. I m in my second semester as a college student, and Sandra
Stebbin s English class has saved me more times than I care to count. It s time for the United States
education system to start taking grammar seriously. This is a huge concern, because our future leaders
can t afford to have writing skills equivalent to a 7th grade middle school kid. I will start with a
journey through a hellacious class focused around grammar. Coming into the WCSCC as a 12th
grader, I was astonished at how little skill I had when it came to grammar. It still boggles my mind that
it took twelve years of school before I met a teacher who really, really cared about how I composed
my sentences. She wanted us to know what adjectives, prepositions, nouns, pronouns, and run on
sentences were. However, she knew we didn t. On the first day of class, she made the

Chapter 1
Moché the Beadle s story is very disturbing. He had experienced horrible atrocities and risked his life
to warn his fellow townspeople. However, the latter did not believe him yet alone listen to him. They
called him the madman. This passage is hard for the reader, who knows what is going to happen to the
Jews later on (situational irony). Moché was also foreshadowing what was going to happen to the
Jews. This warning also brings about the postulation that many Jews could have escaped the
Holocaust had they believed in the some firsthand testimonies.

Never shall I forget that nocturnal silence which deprived me, for all eternity, of the desire to live.
Never shall I forget those moments which murdered my God and my soul and turned my dreams to
dust. Never shall I forget these things, even if I am condemned to live as long as God Himself. Never.
The repetition of the phrase Never shall I forget really emphasises on and illustrated that what Wiesel
is describing will be engraved in his memory forever, that it is impossible to forget. I also think that he
wants to spread the word about what happened in the holocaust, raise awareness and make sure that
nothing even remotely like it ever happens again.
On page 50, when the Gypsy deportee struck Eliezer s father, Eliezer does not react at all. Here,
Eliezer himself and the reader realise that he has changed, that his new surroundings have changed
him. The inhumane way of treating the Jews has transformed them too to behave like animals; only
fending for themselves and leaving the others to live their own lives or in this case, die their own
deaths.
After that, I had no other name When Eliezer has his number engraved onto his left arm, he feels a

Blue Trail Narrative
When I first set out for the Blue Trail I did not know what to expect. I ve been on several trails before
that were infested with overgrowth and never found them amusing, so what s so special about this

Finding the trail wasn t particularly difficult, since I knew the campus from its sustainable farm to the
music building overlooking its own lawn and pond; however, once I got there I was surprised. Right
on the edge of the road, the forest had muses all around to draw inspiration from. I found myself
transfixed by every little squirrel that would not run away from me, since I was in their world and not
the other way around. Surrounded by an ocean of orange pine leaves, I wondered how much longer
until fall would come and transform everything.
THUNK. I tripped on several tree roots throughout the path and realized I was out of my element.
There wasn t that much human activity there either, besides the whooshing sound of cars passing the
road nearby or the lone blonde girl that sat along the path. Of course, I avoided talking to other people

Responsibilities Of HACCPAnd The Food Safety Management...
Responsibilities
You must put in place and implement a food safety management system to ensure the food you
provide is safe to eat. Think about what might go wrong with the food that you sell and what you must
do to ensure it is safe for your customers. Procedures must be in place to manage food safety hazards
in your workplace. Everything must be written down, updated when necessary and kept so that they
can be checked by the local authority.
These procedures must be based on the principles of HACCP.

What is HACCP?
HACCP is a system that identifies where hazards may arise in the food production process, by putting
procedures into place to prevent the hazards from occurring.
HACCP systems must be based on the seven principles.
Conduct a hazard analysis
Identify critical control points
Establish critical limits
Establish monitoring
Establish corrective actions
Establish verification
Establish documentation and records

2. From Schmookler s The Parable of the Tribes, describe one of the four ways in which tribes engage
in conflict (Imitation, Destruction, , Withdrawal), and select one passage from Ta Nehisi Coates book
that demonstrates one of these four archetypical ways of tribal conflict. Explain why.

suddenly, one of these tribes becomes aggressive, and starts a campaign of conquest among its
neighbors. the result for one of the non aggressive tribes can be one of four, and only four,
alternatives: The tribe is conquered, and all its inhabitants are annihilated or The tribe is conquered,
and its surviving inhabitants are obliged to subordinate their wills to the will of the Conquering tribe
or The tribe fled to an inaccessible or inhospitable region, abandoning its territory, which is
appropriate by the conquering tribe or The tribe resists conquest and defeated its conqueror .

Horton Vs. California Case Essay
DuPont1 Dylan DuPont 10/22/16 CJA 356 criminal evidence Week 4 final paper Horton vs. California
On June 4th, 1990, Terry Brice Horton vs. California was a United States Supreme Court case in
which the Court held 7 2 that the Fourth Amendment does not prohibit warrantless seizure of
evidence, which is granted due to the plain view doctrine. The discovery of the evidence does not have
to be inadvertent, although that is a characteristic of most legitimate plain view seizures. The victim
was Erwin Wallaker he was robbed of jewelry and cash, in his own garage by two men, one armed
with a machine gun and one with a stun gun. Wallaker heard enough of the robber s conversation to
identify Horton s voice. His identification was partially corroborated by a witness who saw the
robbers leaving the scene and by evidence that Horton had attended a coin show. Sergeant LaRault
determined there was enough evidence to search Horton s home, and obtained a warrant to do so. His
affidavit for the search warrant described both the weapons and the proceeds of the robbery, but the
warrant only granted permission to look for the stolen property. While searching Horton s house,
Sergeant LaRault did not find the property, but he did find an Uzi machine gun, a .38 caliber revolver,
two stun guns, and a handcuff key, along with other items linking Horton to the crime. The evidence
was admitted into the trial, and Horton was found guilty of armed robbery. Horton Argued that the

plain weird behavior of a genius CEO should not be held against him if that person is getting results.
But as we now know, Apple barely dodged some serious bullets thanks to Jobs risky behavior. In a
different regulatory climate, the company could have faced a major scandal and government fines for
either its anti trust practices or its backdating of stock options. If American Apparel s board had

There will be no formulated statements from non parametric analysis in regard to the information that

New York City And Los Angeles
Being on opposite sides of the country, New York City and Los Angeles are two very similar, yet two
very different cities. Each city has its own ambience and atmosphere. People take pleasure in one of
them based on their personal preference and things available to them at each location. New York City
and Los Angeles are easily compared and contrasted based upon their weather, jobs, and style of
living.
New York City has four seasons: spring, summer, fall, and winter. Each season brings upon different
weather. The spring season in NYC is very pleasant. The temperatures can range from 42 to 62
degrees Fahrenheit depending on the winter before. New York City s summer season is usually
steaming hot, with temperatures reaching 90 degrees in the months of June, July, and August. When
fall rolls around, the temperatures start dropping. The fall season is full of beautiful colors and sights,
with temperatures ringing in anywhere from 50 to 70 degrees. The dreaded winter season is the
coldest of them all with temperatures dipping below freezing and sometimes below zero (Weather
Facts New York City).
However, Los Angeles weather can be very different. With Los Angeles being in Southern California,
it does not have many weather changes throughout the year. Most of the time, Los Angeles sees sunny
skies and temperatures at 75 degrees. Southern California s climate has often been described as perfect
(DISCOVER LOS ANGELES).

The Pros And Cons Of Machine Learning
Machine learning and Deep Learning Some machines are capable to acquire their own knowledge by
extracting patterns from raw data, a phenomenon known as machine learning (ML) (Bengio, Ian and
Aaron 2016). Without question, many aspects of modern society have been deeply impacted by these
machine learning systems. Furthermore, ML claims to accomplish simple results that can be
effortlessly understood by humans (Michie, et al. 1994). Outputs from these systems that are used in
service systems include, but are not limited to offering customers new items and narrowing down their
search based on their interests; language understanding, object recognition, speech perception, and
identifying and favoring significant results of online searches (Yann , Yoshua and Geoffrey 2015). It is
important to emphasize that even though human intervention is necessary for background knowledge,
the operational phase is expected to be without human interaction (Michie, et al. 1994). Consequently,
these systems must be able to learn through time. According to Alpaydin (2004), they must be able to
evolve and optimize a performance criterion in order to adapt to the environmental changes to which
they are exposed over time. These systems do that through the use of past experience or example data.
Russell et al. (2004), classified machine learning tasks into three different groups based on the
feedback available to the learning system and the nature of the learning signal: supervised learning,

Electoral College Voting System
It s interesting to notice that in those four disputed elections of 1800, 1824, 1876 and 1960, the winner
of the popular vote didn t become President because they weren t the winners of the Electoral College
votes. The first two instances were mainly due to an unorganized system because of the early
establishment. However, there is a recurring pattern in the later elections.
In 1800, the problem was that the electors had two votes, one for President and one for the Vice
President, which, based on the outcome, resulted in the adoption of the 12th Amendment which
ensured that a tied vote for President wouldn t happen again. In the 1824 election resulted in the
creation of two political parties which were the Democratic and the Whig parties.

The Black Panther Party In The 1960 s
In the 1960 s all around the United States, many African Americans fought for civil and equal rights in
America. The Black Panther Party did this through many different ways such as food banks,
newspapers, free food and clothing. Led by many influential and powerful people, such as Martin L.
King, Bobby Seale , and Huey Newton. Even though the Black Panthers were considered radical
because of their use of force to protect the African American communities, their actions were just
because their goals were to receive equal rights and opportunities as the white community had
obtained.
The Black Panther Party members had many foes but none greater than the white men in the
government. The white men in the government wanted no success or freedom from the black
communities including the Black Panthers. There was racism rooming all around the United States
and the country was being led by the white men who basically could do anything they wanted at any
time.
Around 1966, the Black Panther Party was founded. It was a Black political organization, solely for
Self Defensive purposes. The Black Panther Party originated in Oakland, California. The main
founders were Huey Newton and Bobby Seale. There were six members of the Black Panthers
included Sherman Forte, Elbert Big Man Howard, Little Bobby Hutton, Huey Newton, Bobby Seale,
and Reggie Forte. These six people were the very important in making this party. They adopted the
Black Panther symbol from an independent political party

Football Disrespecting In Football
Football is an American sport, that many families and friends enjoy together. However, many people
have not been interested in going to the football games they normally enjoy and not because of losses,
but because of the disrespectful players in the National Football League (NFL). Kneeling during the
National Anthem has become an issue, and some find it offensive because it s disrespectful to people
who fight for our country, it shows our country doesn t care how we act, and it causes people of our
nation to fight each other. NFL players are kneeling and the people who have served and are in the
process of serving for our country, plus their family members believe that this is disrespectful to them.
However, some service men and women are okay with this, they say the players have the right to
protest and that is why we have the National Anthem. Donald Trump said in his speech last week in
Alabama the people who own NFL should fire all players who kneel during the anthem. Trump used
harsh words when he was describing the way the players should be kicked off the teams. Pat Tillman,
former NFL player and now Army ranger shows on twitter that it s not disrespecting veterans to kneel
during the anthem. As this is what him and others fought for, the right to protest, some veterans agree.
Although, Kevin Ferrell and other service men and women, thinks this is not what they went to war
for and took the chance of dying for. Some feel this is showing they don t don t want to be American,
but nothing is stopping them from living elsewhere. Although many people are saying the NFL players
kneeling during the anthem bothers them, they aren t doing anything and this shows they don t really
care. This stands out, because of the fact that Donald Trump spoke last week and still no one has done
anything to help this situation. Pat Tillman, former NFL player and now Army ranger, shows on
twitter, it s not disrespectful to veterans to kneel during the anthem. However Kevin Ferrell, 5 year
Army veteran says this is not what he went to war for and could ve died for, many other veterans have
mutually feelings. Some feel this is showing they don t want to live her, but nothing is stopping them

Perception Of Cultures In The Plague By Albert Camus
Perception of cultures is boundless and the conceptions of cultures are solely encompassed in the eyes
of those who behold them. Many construe cultures as being categorized by their basic views of
religion, disposal of the dead, hygiene, medical treatment, social interactions, and gender roles, while
others believe cultures are defined antagonistically. Though ideas of what embody a culture differ, the
creed that culture is diverse and varies internationally through location is comprehensive. A culture s
importance can often times be overlooked, and the Algerian culture is one of these recurrently omitted
cultures. Algeria is an Arabic and French speaking, North African country bordering the
Mediterranean Sea with several cities of European influence. The country is one of contrast and
contradiction through its culture, through things such as language spoken, traditions or beliefs
practiced. The culture is heavily influenced by religion with over 99 percent of the population being
Sunni Muslims. Algeria is a country of both traditional and modern Muslim cultures. There are often
prevalent clashing cultural attributes that are both widely practiced within Algeria. This idea of
cultural contrast can be seen in The Plague, written by the influential philosopher, Albert Camus. This
philosophical fiction is set in the French Algerian port city of Oran, sometime in the 1940s, and hosts
many cultural aspects that contrast those that are widely practiced in Algeria. The novel

The Operational Safety Management System
INTRODUCTION Any well designed safety program or system is only as effective as the day to day
ability of everyone in the organisation to rigorously follow procedures correctly and safely every time.
(Angiullo in Hopkins, 2009: p.147) This statement is based on organisational discipline or each
worker as having the self restraint to perform every task required.
Angiullo supports the statement by discussing the operational safety management system in three core
areas: leadership characteristics; well defined and followed management processes; and maintenance
of high standards. Organisations only fully conform to organisational discipline when these three areas
are effectively implemented within the organisation. (Angiullo in Hopkins, 2009). This essay will
discuss why it is believed to be an utopian statement by comparing the core areas against the AS/NZ
4801:2001 Occupational health and safety management systems specification with guidance for use
and supporting literature.
LEADERSHIP CHARACTERISTICS
An organisation s managerial leadership and commitment is defined from the top levels and filters
through to the front line worker. Leadership inspires and motivates only when it is consistent. What
management do or do not do including providing resources, their personal actions or the method of
communication can motivate or demotivate workers (Cutchfield, Roughton 2014). It has been
identified that leadership language, behaviour and trustworthiness shapes the beliefs and

A Simple Phone Call One Night After Dinner
It all began with a simple phone call one night after dinner. Joe, my father hollered up the stairs, it s

was tired and had looked forward to a nice quiet evening at home, not another stupid adventure with
Jackie. Thirty minutes later, however, Jackie s silver Mustang convertible swung into our driveway,
and Jackie was leaning on the horn before the car came to a full stop. Grabbing my coat from the

probably nothing I assured Jackie. I was giving Jackie false hope. In the early 60 s and 70 s this town

During that time the government fell apart as Jackies parents implemented this form of society. There
was so little government and law restriction that all crime became considered legal. Eventually the
Army intervened and broke up the chaos. Jackies parents disappeared and were never heard of again.

  • 2. Reactive Attachment Theory Essay Oppositional Defiant Disorder, or ODD, is a behavioral disorder occurring in childhood. This disorder is characterized by a child defying authority (parents, teachers, etc.) and an overall angry/irritable mood. Oppositional Defiant Disorder can impact the child s social relationships both at home with their families and at school with their teachers and fellow classmates. Attachment theory, which looks at how well parents provide emotional security for their children, is a useful framework for understanding the underlying causes of ODD. Through the lens of this theory, ODD is not the result of a child s behavior or their biology, but instead the child s faulty attachments to their parents or other guardians. This article will give an in depth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a whole, attachment theory investigates the process in which children form ties to caregivers that vary in terms of the security of the bond (Kerns, Tomich, Aspelmeier, Contreras 2000, p. 614). Better bonds between parents and children lead to better attachment of the child to the parent. If a child is attached well, they will ...use the primary caregiver as a secure base from which to explore [their environment] and, when necessary, as a haven of safety and a source of comfort (5) (Benoit 2004, p. 542). Parents need to be available to children as a source of security, but at the same time let their children develop independence to explore their surroundings and make choices for themselves. If children do not receive the freedom from parents to make choices independently, they will struggle with decision making later in life because they had not had the chance to learn this skill in childhood. There are four attachment styles to be discussed in this section: secure attachment, insecure avoidant attachment, insecure resistant attachment, and disorganized ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Impact Of Melting Glaciers On The Environment The argument s main idea is that melting glaciers may have a negative impact on the environment, but they are allowing scientists to make new discoveries. The author, Alan Burdick, develops this argument by explaining that glaciers are melting at a rapid rate, which causes disruptions in the ecosystem. However, scientists are able to find artifacts that were once frozen in the glaciers. These artifacts would have been unavailable to scientists if the glaciers had not started melting. Many of the ancient items are in perfect condition because they were frozen in the ice. One example of a recent finding is a wooden box that is believed to have stored food. The article shows how these artifacts help scientists have a better understanding of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Why Franklin Was A Thoroughbred Renaissance Man During Benjamin Franklin s illustrious 84 years of life he achieved success that seems practically unachievable today. Franklin found success in business, going from a teenager traveling colonial America looking for work as a printer, to building his own printing empire. Aside from business, Franklin also had a knack for inventing. He developed products such as the Franklin stove, bifocals, lightning rod, and the glass harmonica. Include the fact that he was also heavily involved in politics, is one of the founding fathers of our nation, and also one of the most intelligent men of all time, and it is easy to see that Benjamin Franklin was a thoroughbred renaissance man. It is one thing to know about the story of Benjamin Franklin, but it is completely different to understand the potential benefits of following his way of life. This essay will focus on the benefits that Franklin s story could have on the typical college student. College is a time of immense personal growth, and what better way to grow than with the guidance from the author of the American dream Benjamin Franklin. After four short years, students are let out into the real world so it is important to be prepared. That is why it would be wise for college students to follow the life of Benjamin Franklin as presented in his autobiography. Franklin s work ethic, emphasis on personal growth, and frugality are relevant to college students today, and provide an outline for helping students find success. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Summary Of Abuse At Abu Ghraib I asked several people, several times, where I could find a copy of the standard operating procedures, or even rules and regulations, says Frederick. And nobody would ever provide me with any or let me know where they were. The only thing they would do is just give me a pat on the back and say everything will be all right (60 Minutes, Abuse at Abu Ghraib) This is Sergeant Chip Frederick, one of the soldiers that has been convicted of conspiracy, dereliction of duty, maltreatment of detainees, assault, and indecent acts. He served 8 years in military prison, in Washington D.C. Even though Sgt. Frederick plead guilty, he claimed that no one involved in the scandal was properly trained, and did not know the standard Geneva Conventions. We had no support, no training whatsoever. And I kept asking my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the amount of people being sent to prison increased, the army couldn t keep up with rising numbers. There was when I left, there was over 900 inmates. There was only five soldiers plus two non commissioned officers in charge for those 900 over 900 inmates said Sgt. Frederick (60 Minutes, Abuse at Abu Ghraib). For every guard there is roughly 128 prisoners. At most United States prisons, it is supposed to be for every guard there is five inmates. When 60 minutes interviewed Sgt. Frederick, he was asked about the treatment of prisoners. We learned a little bit of Arabic, basic commands. • 6. Feminist Manifesto During these last thirteen weeks, I have discovered a lot about myself, not only as a student, but as a feminist. Before taking this class, I knew that I wanted to be a feminist. I believed that women should stand up and exercise their rights to be equal to men on every level. Be that as it may, I lacked the education required to develop my own sense of feminism my feminist manifesto, if you will. When approaching the topic of feminism, every person needs to ask themselves a list of questions: Who am I? Who do I want to be? What has influenced me as a person? How can I help? • 7. American Progression Since the beginning of time people have been on an endless journey for Progress . But what does progress really mean? When I hear the word progress, I think of an improvement of a specific condition. Progress is advancing over a period of time and can have positive or negative effects of some sort. One significant event that led to great progress in human history was the discovery of America. The founding of America led to progress through the introduction of New World plants to the Old World, transmission of various diseases and colonization. The Columbian Exchange of crops between the Old World and the New World is significant in the progression of human history. This event is important because the introduction of the native New World plants eventually changed the economy of the entire world. Native New World plants such as tobacco, maize, beans, tomatoes, and especially the lowly potato eventually revolutionized the international economy as well as the European diet, feeding the rapid population growth of the Old World (Kennedy and Cohen 14; Ch. 1). Many of the crops grown around the world today originated in the Americas. New World foodstuff also helped Africa overcome chronic food ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The transmission of these diseases resulted in progression of human history because it increased awareness, knowledge and eventually cures for some. However, this progression did not come without some downfalls. The disease introduced to the New World caused the Indians to die in droves but it also allowed new cultures to be formed. Disease took more than human life; it extinguished entire cultures and occasionally helped shape new ones (Kennedy and Cohen 30; Ch.2). The introduction of Syphilis to the Old World also aided in progression because now we have knowledge about the disease and today syphilis is nonfatal and can be treated with ... The sooner any issues or concerns are raised the sooner the child or young person can be monitored and help or assistance given. If the concern was ignored or the problem was left untreated things could get worse and a delay in help or any treatment needed could mean the outcome isn t as good as if the treatment was started earlier. ... Responding to any concern has to be done in a professional manner meaning that you don t talk to the parents or carer of the child without first following procedures. You would have to have an account and a note of exactly what was seen or heard or anything witnessed. You would need to state why it was a concern to you and the date and time this occurred. You would need to have kept a log and it must be true and accurate. You would approach the class teacher with your concern. If the teacher disregards it you would still need to report it as you have a responsibility to that child or young person. You would report it to the relevant person above the teacher until the concern has been reported correctly. Once reported the relevant person can help the child appropriately to solve the issue correctly hopefully getting the child back on course. If you fail to take note and report any concerns of child development the child or young person s development could be affected in various areas. Example 2 You may start to become concerned about a child or young person if they start to act out of character or their behaviour changes. You have a child who in class usually participates well and is happy, very outgoing and confident but one day they come into class looking sad and is very quiet. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Essay On Death Of A Salesman A Slice Of America Death of a Salesman: A Slice of Americana The concept of what constitutes American is a varied as the people who make up America. Thinking about the global perspective of the concept, the concept stratifies even more so. The opinion of those who love this country may say that American is apple pie, fast cars, Friday night football, working hard, owning your own home, and living the American Dream. The opinion of those who are not necessarily fans of America may point out that we are materialistic, militaristic, brash, entitled, and greedy. Considering that Death of a Salesman was written in 1949 in a less globally minded, post world War II economic boom and sense of American pride, it would seem that the American feel given the play would pertain only to its time in history. Given the complete context of all the personalities and situations portrayed, however, one can see that Death of a Salesman is timeless in its interpretation of the American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Donaldson s piece, America s Love Affair With Cars, which was ironically published by a Canadian journal, she points out that Americans are raised to love cars from the very beginnings of life. There are toy cars that not only are shiny and fun but have working parts, windshield wipers and horns, and remote controls. Going into young adulthood, it is always the kids in school with the newest, fastest, and nicest cars that get the best chance at a date with a popular girl or boy. She notes that Clearly, the automobile has been much more than simply a means of transportation for most Americans. Once man and woman felt the breeze blowing on their faces as they sped along a road, a passion was created. The car is just about everything today including a form of art and craftsmanship, a collector s item, a cultural icon. • 10. Sexism And The Effects Of Growing Up Sexism and the Effects of Growing up in a Man s World W0512971 Southeastern Louisiana University Abstract The purpose of this study is to determine whether sexism has an effect on the lives of women in situations such as breastfeeding their child and whether or not people take offense to the sight of seeing a mother breastfeed her child. I will recruit 100 participants, 50 males, and 50 females, ranging from ages 18 to 50. I will perform my study using an experimental design where participants are shown a series of images in a video on a projector screen and they will place the images in one of two categories, with ten slots open for each category. The next part of my study will be to ask the participants in an essay question if they would continue, or be comfortable with their significant other continuing to breastfeed in public after receiving negative feedback from a stranger (See Appendix). I hypothesize that the majority of the participants will place an image of a mother breastfeeding in a public setting in a bad deeds category, but will place a picture of shirtless men playing football in the park in the good deeds category. I expect to come to the conclusion that people are more likely to take offense to the sight of a woman breastfeeding than to seeing a shirtless man. The Iraq War Analysis In the days following September 11, 2001, Americans faced an onslaught of headlines designed to generate fear and outrage regarding the terrorist group Al Qaeda and Iraqi leader, Saddam Hussein. These fears were only heightened when President George W. Bush declared war on Iraq on March 20, 2003, with the intentions of helping Iraqis achieve a united, stable, and free country despite the tyrannical rule imposed by Saddam Hussein ( George W. One relationship that was severely damaged was the U.S. ties to the United Nations. Before the war, only a small minority of Americans [were] ready to go to war with Iraq without UN Security Council approval, something they never provided (Kull 569). The United States deliberately defied the wishes of the United Nations in order to depose Saddam Hussein. The United States made its intentions clear when the Bush Administration announced that they would circumvent the UN if necessary to depose Saddam Hussein after being unsatisfied by Iraq s 12,000 page declaration of its weapons program that was produced in order to clarify the weapon capacity of the nation, deeming it insufficient proof that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq (Weathers). This angered many European nations save Britain, who initially supported the US in its endeavors. Ironically, the U.S. defied the UN to enforce UN resolutions regarding the harboring of weapons of mass destruction that were put in place following the Gulf War and proposals put into effect regarding weapons inspection programs in Iraq. Management as a proper discipline developed after the tip of the nineteenth century. Nevertheless it should be admitted that management has been in existence since humankind became systematized into formal groups. It is very difficult to come up with a definition of management which could totally satisfy all professionals or skilled people or all management theorists. For a broad operating definition consider management as an activity that performs certain functions to obtain the effective acquisition, allocation, and utilization of human efforts and physical resources to accomplish some goal (Wren 2005, p. 3). Modern management has grown with the growth of social economics and scientific institution. Nowadays workers do not work only for money. They work for satisfaction and happiness with sensible living style. These are the most vital issues now. Modern management explanation (of why something works or happens the way it does) refers to highlighting the use of well thought out mathematical ways of doing things within the system with analyzing and understanding the inter relationship of management and staff. Organizational efficiency and service quality can be increased through the implication of management theories. Today managers simply do not use a singular theory, infect they use a series of theories depending on the workplace, purpose and workforce. Still, few ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. National Honor Society Personal Statement Essay National Honor Society Personal Statement I have always had an interest in improving the community around us, and would like to be involved in this role by helping out in the community. By joining NHS, I aspire to enhance some of my skills, such as ambition, collaboration, and leadership. I hope to increase my initiative to provide service in the community and to take chances out of my comfort zone. By helping out in the community more with service projects I hope to improve my collaborative, management and people skills. In addition, I hope to improve my leadership skills through public service projects. These projects will not only give me more experience with leadership, but they will also motivate me to help my community and my peers with their endeavors. I believe that joining the National Honor Society at River Hill will teach me essential skills for my future, and improve my community. Learning is the single most important aspect of any school education. Being able to retain the content and apply the information is much more important than simply memorizing facts. Earlier this year, I had initially started to take a certain class that would not benefit me in the future, and instead create an abundance amount of stress for me, as I had no interest in taking that course and was merely taking it to fit the norms of other students. Soon after, I realized that taking a different class that actually interested me would be more beneficial, and thus I would be able to focus on my other courses of high levels. This switch genuinely allows me to develop a much higher level of commitment for my other classes and help me retain the information for future purposes. A leader takes diligent time in considering the ability to adhere to other people s interests and presents their followers with a positive mindset. This summer, I accepted an invitation to participate in the Dale Carnegie Young Adult Leadership Program. Attendees of this program learned several skills that can be applied to future experiences, especially on how to become an effective leader. Everyday, the attendees acted as leaders by accomplishing various tasks that forced them to reach out of their comfort zones. We acted as leaders by leading group ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. America s Grammar Problem Essay America s Grammar Problem Growing up we re told repeatedly that, grammar is important, and you will need it in college. As I sit in these lectures, however, I see that claim hasn t fazed anybody. I sit in an English class expecting to read these great, well put together papers, and I get the same writing level I saw my senior year in high school. I should expect this, I mean, no kid is going to magically learn the rules of writing over the summer. I didn t. It took nine grueling months of an English class that, quite frankly, was hell on earth to learn most of them. The class was the toughest class I have ever sat through, and yet, I m blessed. I m in my second semester as a college student, and Sandra Stebbin s English class has saved me more times than I care to count. It s time for the United States education system to start taking grammar seriously. This is a huge concern, because our future leaders can t afford to have writing skills equivalent to a 7th grade middle school kid. I will start with a journey through a hellacious class focused around grammar. Coming into the WCSCC as a 12th grader, I was astonished at how little skill I had when it came to grammar. It still boggles my mind that it took twelve years of school before I met a teacher who really, really cared about how I composed my sentences. She wanted us to know what adjectives, prepositions, nouns, pronouns, and run on sentences were. However, she knew we didn t. On the first day of class, she made the ... He had experienced horrible atrocities and risked his life to warn his fellow townspeople. However, the latter did not believe him yet alone listen to him. They called him the madman. This passage is hard for the reader, who knows what is going to happen to the Jews later on (situational irony). Moché was also foreshadowing what was going to happen to the Jews. This warning also brings about the postulation that many Jews could have escaped the Holocaust had they believed in the some firsthand testimonies. Never shall I forget those moments which murdered my God and my soul and turned my dreams to dust. Never shall I forget these things, even if I am condemned to live as long as God Himself. Never. The repetition of the phrase Never shall I forget really emphasises on and illustrated that what Wiesel is describing will be engraved in his memory forever, that it is impossible to forget. I also think that he wants to spread the word about what happened in the holocaust, raise awareness and make sure that nothing even remotely like it ever happens again. On page 50, when the Gypsy deportee struck Eliezer s father, Eliezer does not react at all. Here, Eliezer himself and the reader realise that he has changed, that his new surroundings have changed him. The inhumane way of treating the Jews has transformed them too to behave like animals; only fending for themselves and leaving the others to live their own lives or in this case, die their own deaths. After that, I had no other name When Eliezer has his number engraved onto his left arm, he feels a loss of identity. This also contributes to the change in character. Finding the trail wasn t particularly difficult, since I knew the campus from its sustainable farm to the music building overlooking its own lawn and pond; however, once I got there I was surprised. Right on the edge of the road, the forest had muses all around to draw inspiration from. I found myself transfixed by every little squirrel that would not run away from me, since I was in their world and not the other way around. The discovery of the evidence does not have to be inadvertent, although that is a characteristic of most legitimate plain view seizures. The victim was Erwin Wallaker he was robbed of jewelry and cash, in his own garage by two men, one armed with a machine gun and one with a stun gun. Wallaker heard enough of the robber s conversation to identify Horton s voice. His identification was partially corroborated by a witness who saw the robbers leaving the scene and by evidence that Horton had attended a coin show. Sergeant LaRault determined there was enough evidence to search Horton s home, and obtained a warrant to do so. His affidavit for the search warrant described both the weapons and the proceeds of the robbery, but the warrant only granted permission to look for the stolen property. While searching Horton s house, Sergeant LaRault did not find the property, but he did find an Uzi machine gun, a .38 caliber revolver, two stun guns, and a handcuff key, along with other items linking Horton to the crime. The Pros And Cons Of Machine Learning Machine learning and Deep Learning Some machines are capable to acquire their own knowledge by extracting patterns from raw data, a phenomenon known as machine learning (ML) (Bengio, Ian and Aaron 2016). Without question, many aspects of modern society have been deeply impacted by these machine learning systems. Furthermore, ML claims to accomplish simple results that can be effortlessly understood by humans (Michie, et al. 1994). Outputs from these systems that are used in service systems include, but are not limited to offering customers new items and narrowing down their search based on their interests; language understanding, object recognition, speech perception, and identifying and favoring significant results of online searches (Yann , Yoshua and Geoffrey 2015). It is important to emphasize that even though human intervention is necessary for background knowledge, the operational phase is expected to be without human interaction (Michie, et al. 1994). Consequently, these systems must be able to learn through time. According to Alpaydin (2004), they must be able to evolve and optimize a performance criterion in order to adapt to the environmental changes to which they are exposed over time. These systems do that through the use of past experience or example data. Russell et al. The first two instances were mainly due to an unorganized system because of the early establishment. However, there is a recurring pattern in the later elections. However, many people have not been interested in going to the football games they normally enjoy and not because of losses, but because of the disrespectful players in the National Football League (NFL). Kneeling during the National Anthem has become an issue, and some find it offensive because it s disrespectful to people who fight for our country, it shows our country doesn t care how we act, and it causes people of our nation to fight each other. NFL players are kneeling and the people who have served and are in the process of serving for our country, plus their family members believe that this is disrespectful to them. However, some service men and women are okay with this, they say the players have the right to protest and that is why we have the National Anthem. Donald Trump said in his speech last week in Alabama the people who own NFL should fire all players who kneel during the anthem. Trump used harsh words when he was describing the way the players should be kicked off the teams. Pat Tillman, former NFL player and now Army ranger shows on twitter that it s not disrespecting veterans to kneel during the anthem. • 34. Perception Of Cultures In The Plague By Albert Camus Perception of cultures is boundless and the conceptions of cultures are solely encompassed in the eyes of those who behold them. Many construe cultures as being categorized by their basic views of religion, disposal of the dead, hygiene, medical treatment, social interactions, and gender roles, while others believe cultures are defined antagonistically. Though ideas of what embody a culture differ, the creed that culture is diverse and varies internationally through location is comprehensive. A culture s importance can often times be overlooked, and the Algerian culture is one of these recurrently omitted cultures. Algeria is an Arabic and French speaking, North African country bordering the Mediterranean Sea with several cities of European influence. The country is one of contrast and contradiction through its culture, through things such as language spoken, traditions or beliefs practiced. The culture is heavily influenced by religion with over 99 percent of the population being Sunni Muslims. Algeria is a country of both traditional and modern Muslim cultures. There are often prevalent clashing cultural attributes that are both widely practiced within Algeria. This idea of cultural contrast can be seen in The Plague, written by the influential philosopher, Albert Camus. • 35. The Operational Safety Management System INTRODUCTION Any well designed safety program or system is only as effective as the day to day ability of everyone in the organisation to rigorously follow procedures correctly and safely every time. (Angiullo in Hopkins, 2009: p.147) This statement is based on organisational discipline or each worker as having the self restraint to perform every task required. Angiullo supports the statement by discussing the operational safety management system in three core areas: leadership characteristics; well defined and followed management processes; and maintenance of high standards. Organisations only fully conform to organisational discipline when these three areas are effectively implemented within the organisation. (Angiullo in Hopkins, 2009). This essay will discuss why it is believed to be an utopian statement by comparing the core areas against the AS/NZ 4801:2001 Occupational health and safety management systems specification with guidance for use and supporting literature. LEADERSHIP CHARACTERISTICS An organisation s managerial leadership and commitment is defined from the top levels and filters through to the front line worker. Leadership inspires and motivates only when it is consistent. What management do or do not do including providing resources, their personal actions or the method of communication can motivate or demotivate workers (Cutchfield, Roughton 2014).
