3. The bubonic plague was a devastating disease that rapidly swept across Europe. Also known as
the Black Death, the plague spread from port to port and started to wipe out entire civilizations. All
of Europe was eventually contaminated, with over two–thirds of the population dieing to the
infectious disease. Believed to have started in 1346 when the Mongol armies overtook the Genoese
trading outpost of Caffa on the Black Sea, over half the soldiers on the boat returned dead. The
quickness of the infection and then death, brought a fear to these people they have never witnessed
before. The sudden death caused by the disease created a paranoria among the people that
Armageden had arrived. One of the reasons the bubonic plague spread so quickly, is due to the trade
posts that connected throughout all of Europe. These posts created pathways for the germs and
provided travel. The deadly microbes traveled by the land trails and sea–lanes created by the
Europeans. The old "silk road" even became a breeding ground for the germs. It did not matter
which community, class or culture one is apart of; it infected all. The more populated a city was, the
more devastation that ensued. For example, the city of London was reduced from one hundred
thousand people to just around thirty seven thousand people. This is a massive loss which led to

Satisficing, in turn, is an old Scottish word that defined the desire to find a practical, real–world

Harmful particles and rays, such as detritus, radiation, and magnetic waves from outer space are
constantly bombarding Earth. Solar wind, a rapidly moving stream of electrons and protons from the
Sun, is accountable for stripping away ions such as hydrogen and oxygen from a planet's
atmosphere, releasing them into space. The ratio of hydrogen to oxygen being removed from a
planet's surface, due to this phenomenon, is two to one respectively.
Hydrogen and oxygen are the two elements that make up water – with the same observed ratio of
two to one. Therefore, it has been concluded that water is taken off a planet's atmosphere when solar
winds approach it. Planets such as Venus and Mars are swept dry (hence their lack of water in their
atmospheres) by the solar winds, due to the planets' absence of magnetic shields powerful enough to
"protect" them. The Aurora Borealis is a byproduct of Earth's defense mechanism against the solar
winds – the reason why Earth is not as dehydrated as its sister planets. This research paper will

The obvious focus in the ad is the small crash test dummy in the worker's arms. This is obvious
because of the way everything in the picture focuses on the small test dummy. The entire picture is
shaded to enhance the lightly colored dummy. The small test dummy is meant to symbolize a child,
and there is nothing more tragic than the death of a child. Saturn uses the child to warn the reader.
Children die in car accidents everyday, therefore it is essential that cars be built to protect the
