Stoicism in The Dreamer of the Rood Essay
The Dream of the Rood uses stoicism to promise reward for suffering where Christ and the cross are
linked, yet paralleled with the dreamer in that he joins in the comitatus of Christ through the cross
therefor gaining redemption and eternal life and home in heaven. Christ himself though does not serve
the same role as he does in biblical texts, here he is brave and stoic, like a great warrior.
The Dream of the Rood presents us with the warrior who is Jesus. This Jesus is not the more passive
character that modern religion embraces, but behaves as an Anglo Saxon warrior as he boldly runs to
the cross for personal honor. Whereas his ascension is described as he sent forth his spirit (49) rather
than gave up his spirit in the Bible, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cross, once plain wood, is now exalted over all forest tress (91) and risen to the status of a lord.
The Dreamer is seeing for himself the validity of Christ s claims of rewarding his faithful servants. So
the Cross, it seems, is now further gift giving and reciprocating by telling the Dreamer that he has
been given a gift by Christ, who died for his sins. The Dreamer interprets the telling of this story by
the Cross as a gift, and so in return for this gift that the Cross has given him, the Dreamer tells the
story of his dream to others in order to tell the tale and let others know of this great gift that was given
to all of humanity by Christ. Its resplendence in its appearance to the dreamer is testament to the
validity of its sacrifice in going against traditional Germanic servitude, which is important to
addressing the comingling of cultures in The Dream of the Rood. This is certainly not heroism and
faithful retainership as the Anglo Saxons were used to it, but the Dreamer s vision of the Cross in all
its glory gives credence to Christ as a lord and gift giver.
The portrayal of Christ as a warrior fighting for his people in Dream of the Rood is a very powerful
picture of a hero and savior. Christ is described here as a young hero, a warrior fighting to save his
people. Christ and the tree are drenched in blood, covered with markings, and yet they stand strong
and have courage. This is truly the mark of a hero in Anglo Saxon

Therapeutic Photography Benefits
Photography is a very effective way to stimulate the brain and can help people divert their minds
through positive images and experiences. Photography is an accessible tool for a person to
communicate, frustrations, views, share their stories, and happiness. Within my community, there are
very little resources for individuals who have been diagnosed with a mental illness to spend their time
efficiently or participate in activities that can help them cope. After researching topics and resources, I
feel that a community based program that can include photography for these clients would be highly
beneficial. With therapeutic photography, there is no stigma. I believe when these individuals feel like
they are in isolation, feel unwilling, unworthy

Symptoms Of The Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a common complaint in patients seen by the Family Nurse
Practitioner (FNP). Patients that complain of numbness, tingling or pain to the first three fingers and
part of the ring finger of the hand are describing CTS. The patient may also complain of weakness to
the affected hand. In patients that have experiences these symptoms chronically, there may also be
muscle wasting to the thenar eminence near the base of the thumb (Dunphy, Winland Brown, Porter,
Thomas, 2015). The typical patient that has symptoms of CTS is a pregnant or middle aged female as
women are more likely than men to for CTS. Typically, the symptoms worsen at night and the patient
may be wakened from sleep by wrist or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The symptoms of pain, numbness, tingling or weakness are the result of the inflammatory process
within the carpal tunnel that leads to compression of the median nerve. The compression and resulting
impingement of the median nerve results in ischemia. The ischemia leads to the symptoms of
numbness, tingling, pain and weakness of the hand and/or forearm. The FNP should inspect the wrist
and hands of the patient with symptoms of CTS, looking for skin color and temperature changes,
deformities and muscle wasting. The active and passive range of motion (ROM) of the neck,
shoulders, elbows, wrists and fingers should be accessed. Muscle strength should be assessed at the
shoulder, elbow, wrist and fingers. Spurling s test for cervical radiculopathy should be performed. A
plain x ray can be ordered by the FNP if ROM of the wrist is limited. The FNP should also assess
capillary refill of the fingers (Dunphy, Winland Brown, Porter, Thomas,

Case Study Cape Cod
an examination of existing and historic data shows traffic volumes within the four town grew at an
average annual rate of 1.05% between 1991 and 2001. The Route 6 crash rate for the whole of Cape
Cod was 0.79 crashes per million vehicle miles traveled on average from 1991 1998 while Route 6 in
Eastham had one of the highest crash rates on Cape Cod at 2.17 crashes per million miles of vehicle
travel. Heavy and growing traffic volumes coupled with the existing high crash rates for the corridor
make the search for and implementation of solutions a high priority, especially in Eastham. Total year
round population for Eastham, Wellfleet, and Truro grew 20.6% between the 1990 and 2000 Censuses,
rising to 10,289 in 2000, while Provincetown s year round population decreased 3.7% to 3,431. The
census ranked Eastham and Wellfleet as the 10th and 13th oldest towns in the state with median ages
of 47.6 and 47.0. The percentages of population over 65 in the Outer Cape towns are Eastham
26.00%, Wellfleet 21.70%, Truro 17.00%, and Provincetown 17.8% compared to a statewide average
of 13.50%. Of special interest is seasonal housing on the Outer Cape. Based on the 2000 Census

Cognitive Dysfunctions
Memory takes the information that we receive, through vision, hearing, and touch, and places that
information into a usable form and stores that information for later use. Drug addicts, however, have
cognitive dysfunction as the areas of the brain that deal with addiction also destroy those same parts of
the brain that deal with cognitive functions which include memory.Although many studies have been
done in regards to the use of drugs and the damage they do both physically and mentally, there has not
been much research systematically about the direct effects that opiates can have on the brain and the
cognitive functions. This paper will look at the various research that has been done and take a look at
the destructive effects that drugs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

studies that have been performed over the last two decades have brought many harsh realities to light
about the wonder painkiller drug. It is time to offer new research in alternative pain medication reeds
and come to better pain management techniques and drug choices. It is clear from the research that
opiates cannot be used as directed for a sustained amount of time, nor can they closely monitored by
individuals as these drugs modify the brain s pleasure centers into craving drug that is supposed to
help. I am not for the complete abolishment of these drugs, however, responsibility for its abuse is
going to have to fall on those individuals who prescribe it, and the responsibility for treatment if and
when abuse occurs, should also fall on those same

Marketing Plan For A Grocery Store
Outpost is a local business that prides itself on providing natural, organic food for the community. As
part of its mission, it made the decisions to build the pop up store in the Lindsay Heights
neighborhood to help create a stronger community while providing to viable source to buy fresh,
affordable food. Part of Outpost s vision is to make sure a community has access to organically and
locally produced foods (Mission Values). They also vow to work towards providing products that
promote personal and environmental health. An Outpost pop up store would be an excellent fit in
downtown Racine as it was successful in Milwaukee which faces similar problems to that of Racine.
Outpost is a community oriented business and this would be a great opportunity for them to expand
that model and help strengthen a community a quick drive south. Building a grocery store in Racine
would show how much they care for the community that is Wisconsin, and how they want their
community member s to live healthy lives, which starts by being able to purchase healthy food. The
possible expansions for Outpost, along with the need for grocery stores and the chance to attract and
retain residents are the main reason this would be an excellent opportunity to pursue. I believe this
would be an excellent opportunity for me to pursue for two reasons: I am majoring in Real Estate and
Urban Economics and I have grown up in Racine my whole life. I am majoring in real estate because I

Conflict In Amores Perros
Mexico doesn t exist. Mexico is a collection of regions, a mosaic united by force. And now that the
nationalism of the revolution, that project has shattered, what brings us together? Football? Criticising
Carlos Salinas? Nothing more (media representative, Mexico, 2000).
Amores Perros, directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu is a dark, multi plot film never seems to lose
it s hold on you. The grime within the film, carried by it s subject matter makes for a very compelling
watch. The three storylines we see interlink excellently, constantly showing you the way these
characters lives link up with one another. From the beginning, we see the life of the Mexican
characters seem to represented by some form of conflict. The intense action of the ... Show more

The three aspects of the film are in some form, against the normality s. We see the Illegal Dog
Fighting, The life of an Assassin, and then a Cheating Husband. This questions the point of authority
in Amores Perros as it seems that there is no real consequence for these people s actions, other than
the loss of their dog, or their spirit animal. A prime example of this is when Valeria s dog, Richie is
trapped under the floorboards of her house, this can be viewed as a reflection of her position in life at
that time, her cheating with Daniel, and the fact she loses the opportunity to be a model, is represented
by the Dog being trapped under the floor. However, even with this small reprimanding of each
character it still poses the question of authority in the Film. Iñárittu comments on Immigration heavily
in his personal life. This can be seen also in Amores Perros as each of the characters are seen as
outcasts to the world, with the exception of Valeria. Despite this, Iñárittu makes each character really
interesting, making the mundane important, Highlighting the pandemic of Immigration seen in
Mexico, Iñárittu is quoted to have

King Henry V A Tyrant Analysis
Almost every scholar who has learned about King Henry V can agree that he is one of the most
popular kings of his time period. Henry V was a young king so many scholars have questioned his
actions. Especially, due to his earlier lifestyle because Henry V was an immature adult before he
became king but when he became king he seemed very wise. This might be because he did not want
people to expect much of him. But, one question that has been debated for a long time now is: is
Henry V a Christian King or a Machiavelli tyrant? Henry V was a Machiavelli cruel leader and not a
Christian king for these three reasons: He was not merciful, he led his men into battle because of his
own desires, and Henry s disguise. King Henry V was not merciful ... Show more content on

X-Men First Class Essay
X Men First Class
The movie X Men First Class is a movie based on the X Men comics. This movie is about how the
characters Charles Xavier and Eric Lensherr discover they have mutant powers. They take the names
Professor X and Magneto and work together to recruit other humans with mutant powers to work for
the United States government. They unite to stop Sebastian Shaw, another mutant who uses his power
for evil, from starting a nuclear war. Throughout the movie, Charles and Eric begin to view their
uniqueness in very different ways. Charles wants to adapt and live cohesively among normal humans
as if there was no barrier mutant or normal. Eric, however, feels as though society holds a stigma
against the mutants and wants to lead fellow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As late as the 1960 s people thought of anyone with a disability as stigmatic. If someone was different
the mindset was they should be exterminated. This is really interesting to me because this mind set
started to change in the 1960 s around the time of the civil rights movement and the women s rights
movement, that is when the comics for the X Men came out. It was meant to show people, even
though others are different, they could be special too. X Men was meant to show it is okay to be
different and for your friends to be different. They also do a good job to show that not every difference
is physical, several of the characters also look normal but have a mental ability. I think this shows it is
okay to have a disability or to be different then other people. Not everyone is going to have the Ideal
body or mind and it is okay. If you used to be different, you wanted to try to find a way to hide what
made you different. This is also shown in the movie. The character named Beast wanted to find
anyway to hide his disfigurement and went as far as to create a drug to cure himself so he would look
normal. He offered the drug to Mystique also so she could always look normal. By the time he had
created the drug Mystique had realized it is okay to be different, she had embraced it and turns down
the drug. Beast still takes the drug because he is not comfortable with the way he thinks people
perceive him, this is why he always tried to hide his disfigurement. However, when he takes the drug
it makes the disfigurement worse. The mutants still accept him but now he has to live with the fact his
minor disfigurement he could hide is now very prominent. This could have been avoided if he would
have realized that just because he did not have what society deemed an ideal body, it was ok because
his abnormality made him special. In the

The Importance Of Life In Victorian London
Victorian London was a charnel house of the dead; a city oozing horror and nowhere more so than a
small chapel where they danced on the dead.
By 1842 London was the modern mega city of the world. For some of her 2.5 million inhabitants it
was an exciting, fashionable and thriving metropolis. For many it was a city of squalor, decay,
epidemics and early death and the disposal of the dead was becoming an increasing problem for the
living.
London s population had exploded but the authorities did not plan for the increasing numbers of the
dead. Burial grounds and churchyards were filled beyond capacity with coffins stacked on top of each
other in deep shafts. Open graves sat just feet from the living world. The dead lay amongst the living

Eventually campaigners, led by the sanitary reformer George Walker, took over the chapel in 1847 and
starting exhuming the dead, moving the remains to the new Norwood Cemetery. This process became
another spectacle for Londoners who gathered to stare at the pyramid of bones...exposed to view 4.
Enon Chapel was not the only place where such practices occurred, but it was the most notorious and
provided useful propaganda horror for reform campaigners such as Walker. The government finally
responded to the pressure, passing the Burial Act in 1852 that closed burial grounds in the city. It
paved the way to the development of the great Victorian cemeteries of Highgate, Nunhead and Kensal
Green.
Clements Lane has become St. Clements Lane but the chapel is long gone, demolished for
development. The present site is now home to the London School of Economics and the Law Courts.

effluence and mixed with the bones of its ancient

Lewis Cass And Andrew Jackson s The Cherokee Removal Act
The Cherokee Removal Act is believed to have been causation of prolonged engagement between the
settlers of Georgia, Alabama, and parts of North and South Carolina up until 1836, when Andrew
Jackson officially signed it into law. Andrew Jackson had a lot to say about the need for removal of
natives and two main reasons why it has been such a lengthy procedure. Another man who also had
something to say about the matter at hand was Lewis Cass who was Governor of the Michigan
Territory from 1816 1831. He was well known as one of the most experienced, and highly thoughtful
experts in the country on United States Indian policy and the histories and cultures of the tribes. (114)

Andrew Jackson in his state of the union address of 1830 had the pleasure to announce his long fought
battle in favor of removal had began coming to existence. Humanity and Philanthropy were two of his
main points for why this has been such a strenuous task put upon the nation by the natives. Humanity
has often wept over the fate of the aborigines of this country, and philanthropy has been long busily
employed in devising means to advert it. (127) Jacksonbrings up the point regarding Americans
moving west and humanity not weeping at the fact that they leave but are rather joyful due to the
freedoms of body and mind (128) America grants. Jackson even goes far as asking the American
public How many thousands of our own people would gladly embrace removing to the west on such
conditions? (128) Jackson also discussed the removal procedure and about how the government can be
fair and liberal if they agreed to the laws of the states from which they are present or how the
government can be harsh if the alternative for removal isn t accepted by the natives. Both Andrew
Jackson and Cass have similar arguments relating to Philanthropy between Civilized people and the
Indians believing it has failed but what about the will of Young Wolf? It seems from reading that will

also depicts Jack s own inner struggle with Tyler to find his purpose in life whether it spurred from a

Christianity Rediscovered By Vincent J. Donovan
Christianity Rediscovered
Chapter One:
In the first chapter of Christianity Rediscovered by Vincent J. Donovan he is introducing us to the idea
that missionaries now have a poor reputation due to their history. He says History has offered the
opportunity to deflect and distort the meaning of missionary work in every age . For a long time a
missionary was a person spreading the word of God and after years of doing so we have diminished
many different beliefs, practices, cultures and history. At the time it was thought to be the right thing,
to spread out and share the gospel to help people find meaning and acceptance. In today s age a
missionary is a lot of different things, in many cases it is more focused on the health and physical
wellbeing of the people. Many people still share the gospel through missionary work, but in other
cases it is more of a material aid. Donovan introduces the book as a voyage of discovery he wants us
to put our normal beliefs aside to see his perspective of living a missionaries life and struggling with
the fact of if you are helping or hurting.
Donovan speaks about the missionaries who came to East Africa after they were taken into slavery.
The missionaries thought it would be a good idea to come over and buy the people to save them from
harsh lives, so they bought as many as they could. Doing this they also taught them all of their
customs and where forced into Christianity instead of their beliefs ways and cultures. This struck off a

The Things They Carreid by Tim O Brien Essay
From Vietnam to Paper Taking place in the middle of the Cold War Era, the Vietnam War was a war
not only over land but for many a battle to protect democracy and to fight communism. Much like any
other account of a war, the details are gruesome and it is even more difficult to imagine. However,
following the Vietnam War one author, who served in the war, decided to take up the task and make an
historic account of one of them most grueling wars ever fought. Tim O Brien is a Vietnam veteran
who wrote the novel The Things They Carried. There is a fine line to be walked when writing the
accounts of the war in a way that not only informs but also entertains; however, Tim O Brien walks it

The most prevalent and easily identifiable technique is his use of symbolism. Like previously
mentioned, the novel is series of short stories; each referencing a certain thing each soldier of the
Alpha Company humps . Also, the soldiers are referred to as legs or grunts , which symbolizes their
role in the war. The role, according to O Brien, to march for the sake of the march (O Brien).
According to an interview by Jack Smith, Tim O Brien states that My hope was that by imposing
certain technical requirements on myself, I would end up as a consequence with an interesting,
compelling, and fresh way of telling a story (Smith). His use of symbolism does in fact give a
refreshing take on storytelling and is a vital role in relating the reader to the story. Without symbolism
the story would be a very different, less interesting one. In the story titled The Man I Killed O Brien
reflects on the events leading to and following his killing of a Vietnamese soldier via a grenade. He
goes on to tell the reactions of his platoon mates as well as his own. The explosion of the grenade left
the Vietnamese soldier s face burned and unrecognizable. This symbolizes the life of so many of the
thousands of dead Vietnamese soldiers that too were killed and consequently buried. These dead
soldiers went unidentified and failed to bring their respective families closure. O Brien struggles to

Rapid Economic Growth In China Essay
For the past three decades, critics have immersed themselves in the discourse of China s rapid
economic growth and development. For a socialist regime, the emergence on China s remarkable
economic achievement has been one of the world s most unprecedented success stories. Sai leung Ng
(2000) emphasized on China s success, describing China as the country with the most rapid economic
growth of the time. Paul Collier (2007) noted that individuals in the west were starting to get worried
that China was converging to quickly with the western economy. To support Collier s comment, Jean
Francois Huchet (2006) rated the Chinese economy among the top five leading economies in the
world. In the book, Why Nations Fail, Acemoglu and Robinson (2012, p. 86) exhibit their
astonishment stating China has made great strides towards inclusive economic institutions, strides that
underpin its spectacular growth over the past thirty years . Conversely, Acemoglu and Robinson
(2012, p. 443) conceptualized the framework that China achieved its economic growth by shifting
away from extractive economic institutions and implemented inclusive economic institutions...
Yasheng Huang (2012) has exemplified a theoretical concept insinuating that China s rapid growth
substantially resulted from its rural reform. In his article, How Did China Take Off, Huang (2012)
argued that China s take off in economic growth was completely a function of its rural development
and internal reforms. This initiated the

Mahatma Gandhi Contributions
Mahatma Gandhi was born in Porbandar, India on October 2nd, 1869. His parents were Karamchand
Uttamchand Gandhi and Putlibai Gandhi. He was named Mahatma in his early life, which means great
soul and some said he was a reincarnation of Vishnu, who was the second god in the Hindu group of
three. Gandhi was influential in religious, political and equality practices.
In Gandhi s early life (30 to early 40 s) he accomplished life changing events that set him on a path
that leads to helping all kinds of people. His first major influence was when he fought against racial
discrimination in South Africa in 1893. At the time of his arrival he faced common discrimination
against people of color. The Natal Assembly was going to make a law that banned voters that were not
of European origin. Another influence he had was in 1906 in South Africa. There was a law placed
that required all Asian men who were in the Transvaal Province to be fingerprinted and have a form of

advised that Indians defy the law and take the punishments that come with the act of rebelliousness.
This movement got more serious in 1914 when there was a £3 tax on ex indentured Indians and the
state refused to acknowledge Indian marriages. Satyagraha went on for 7 years, during which
thousands of Indians were put into cuffs and some were killed. In 1914 the £3 tax was removed and
marriages were recognized due to the uproar

Input, Feedback, And Output Essay Essay
Input, Feedback, and Output Essay Initially for the Duolingo project I decided to learn Hebrew
because I thought it was more to similar to Arabic than it actually is. After having some trouble with
the keyboard, I chose to do french because typing was more accessible, as opposed to hebrew where I
had to find a Hebrew keyboard. I felt this would impede on my opportunity to give good feedback on
the input aspect of Duolingo, so I chose one with a similar alphabet. Talk about this in input the
letteres sith accent At the moment Duolingo says I am 20 percent fluent in French. I am not sure how
to measure this fully, but it seems like a lot for the basics I have learned. So far I know two colors, red
and orange. I know the formal and plural forms of you. I also know vocabulary such as dress, boy,
girl, woman, man, read, write, eat, rich, and a few more. The way they introduce words is sometimes
effective and sometimes random and not meaningful. For example, I enjoy that the program uses
pictures in the beginning to set up what vocabulary will be focused on in the lesson. This process of
telling me to select the picture that translates from a word in English, such as man, helped me later in
the lessons so I would not have to guess without any background. On the other hand, sometimes I
would just have to guess. This happened in both Hebrew and French where a lesson would start with
just a prompt telling me to translate a word with no setup. It didn t help that you could

Bacchae Of Euripides Analysis
The Chorus was an integral part of the Greek tragedies, and this is no different in The Bacchae of
Euripides. This Chorus is made up of women celebrants of Dionysus, the Bacchae or Maenads. It is
important to understand that the Chorus is not made up of the women celebrants from Thebes. Instead,
the Chorus is made up of women who have traveled from Asia and followed Dionysus to Thebes.
These women are true initiates of the Bacchae, unlike the women from Thebes who have not been
officially inducted to the Maenads. This division makes it seem as though the women from Thebes are
undergoing a hazing or probationary period to be sure they are worthy of entering the Maenads. The
Chorus uses choral interludes to add commentary on what is happening ... Show more content on

The Chorus calls on him to arrive in one of his many different forms, such as the bull, serpent, or lion,
and to capture Pentheus in his fatal net (1018 1022). The Maenads will be the ones to finish the deed,
but the sighting of Dionysus will make them go into such a frenzy that Pentheus family, especially his
mother, will not even realize who it is that they are ripping to shreds. The initiated Maenads from Asia
already know the effect that the sighting would have on the women, so they call on Dionysus to show
himself so that the women inflict the appropriate justice on the man who questions Dionysus authority.
The overall message or lesson in The Bacchae of Euripides seems to be the importance of revering the
gods, and the punishment that could ensue if they are not properly worshipped and respected. The
interludes, especially the Fourth Chorus, warn of these punishments and the justice that will be served
if mortals cannot revere the powerful

presence sometimes annoyed Sam, he knew his loving wife Cora was responsible for their caring
ways and he took comfort in that. I can really relate to their worrying and overreacting as I too have
worried about my own Dad during some tough times. Sam was very lucky to have family that cared so
much and lived so close. Many elderly people do not have family close by, family that cares or family
period. Even though Sam feels he can fend for himself and doesn t need his family s help, he really
does need them. This is evident the time he collapsed from the pain in his hip and also when he got
lost on his way to his reunion. Of course, anyone can get lost, however, Sam due to his fragile
condition was unable to leave his truck to get help. If it was freezing or nobody came along to help
him he very likely would have died that night. It really made me think when Sam collapsed from the
pain in his hip. He was in his chair when he woke up and realized he had slept through his television

Clara Barton s The American Red Cross
Richard Danner
Final Research Paper
Clara Barton
Clara Barton is not only an example of women/ Americans at their finest, but she also can and should
be revered as a national hero. Clara Barton answered the call to duty in a time when women weren t
necessarily valued not only socially but as assets of contribution. Clara Barton took up the call by
helping save thousands of lives through nursing and providing supplies during the Civil War while
also introducing one of America s first responding organizations, the American Red Cross. Clara
Barton was a servant to this country and to mankind, something our world is shorthanded of currently
and what others can aspire to be.
Clara Barton s life began in 1821 on Christmas Day in Oxford, Massachusetts. She had five siblings
and her parents were Stephen and Sarah Barton. Clara was the youngest child and was described as a
shy girl. While her mother has not been described well, only for having a temper, her father was
described as a possible motivator for Clara s endeavors. Her father had been a captain during the
Indian wars and was described as having a heart for the needy, a person of prominence and and
viewed as a leader within the community (Bio.com). He is also said to have been a great businessman.
As far as her other siblings, she two sisters and two brothers, all of which followed in their parents
footsteps.

The Federal Government Regulate The Insurance Industry
Background The federal government s role is in regulating industries is to protect consumers and the
market. There is an ongoing debate on whether the federal government should regulate the insurance
industry as a result of the bailouts stemming from the Financial Crisis of 2008. Currently, state
governments regulate the insurance industry. Proponents of federal regulation reason that states are
inefficient in the duty of insurance regulation. Additionally, the federal government has economies of
scale and may offer an increase in efficiency unlike state regulation. The federal government regulates
industries due to inherent systemic risk to the country s economic environment. Systemic risk is the
risk of collapse of an entire financial system or market. (SOURCE) For example, banking institutions
such as Lehman Brothers, Merrell Lynch, and Goldman Sachs were major contributors to the financial
crisis in 2008 because these institutions were systemically significant to the market. The insurance
industry and the core activities of the industry, however, were not a major contributor to near collapse
of the American economy. The federal government should not regulate the insurance industry because
it does not possess a systemic risk to the market economy, states have the ability and resources to
regulate, and federal regulation would result in unnecessary costs from the federal budget.

output kind of communication with a computer. Chat bots enables you to converse with a computer in
such a way that you usually talk to a person and it talks back ,which seems realistic as if you were

Do you think these technologies are realistic?
I think these technologies are realistic because they respond to you in a such a manner as if you are
talking to a real person. A lot of research shows that users develop more of a relationship with a chat
bot or avatar than they do with pages of text and images because they seem realistic. Chat bots allow
users to access the information as though they had someone to assist them. The chat bot can take
general language queries, give general language responses, and show users the parts of the content
they were searching for on the internet ,for example Siri technology. I tried a conversation with few of

Examples Of Isolationism In The Painted Door
Isolation can force an individual to make irrational choices by clouding their sense of cogent
judgement. In Ross Sinclair s short story, The Painted Door, the characteristics forced onto an
individual as a result of confinement are clearly shown. Living on a small farm, John and Ann are
faced with winter weather that is almost impossible to travel in. When their closest neighbor is five
miles away, it s hard for them to live in such a world where communication is sparse. Forced to live in
such a world of isolation, Steven, Ann and John s judgement to make rash decisions is limited and has

living and was content with this lifestyle. Knowing Ann did not take pleasure in the lifestyle they were
living, John always tried his best to satisfy her. He wanted a mortgage free farm; then a new house and
pretty clothes for her. This proved that John would like to become rich one day and supply Ann with
the lifestyle she had always wanted even if it meant that he had to sacrifice the thing he loved most
which happened to be the isolation from society. Devoted to the marriage that he had with Ann, even
in the worst storms he would return. You ought to know by now I wouldn t stay away . . . No matter
how it stormed. Twice a week before we were married I never missed and there were bad blizzards

Wanting to take care of his own father who lived only miles away, John was dedication to his father
and his wife was unwavering. Manifesting his most beneficial attribute that he was emotionally and
mentally strong to live within such a world and lifestyle of isolation and solitude, demonstrated John s
ability to strive and become the man for who he always wished to

Merit pay is a term describing performance related pay. Its primary focus is used for helping teachers
improve their performance by learning from each other. Merit Pay can take the form of a bonus or a
permanent teacher salary increased. This motivates many teachers because they believe they are being
evaluated more fairly than traditional evaluation. Merit pay is important to study because it s a one of
the most controversial issue in the field of education and it does have an effect on school finance in
the future. We should be concerned about using merit pay in our school system because most
professions offer bonuses and salary increases for their exemplary employees why should the
education profession be any different? Shouldn t we try and use incentives as we do with our students
to motivate teachers to give their very best in educating our future leaders of tomorrow. Merit pay will
recruit and retain some of the nation s brightest mind. Many people who have the capability to teach
our students refused to do so due to teacher pay but with merit pay many of these individuals may
consider working in the education profession. Relation to the Problem to the Specialization Merit Pay
is a topic of investigation because even though it rewards great teachers many lawmakers, educators,
and teacher s union are opposed to it.

Spider-Man
Nearly all heroes are faced with a variety of inconceivable tasks which in turn help to overcome
obstacles that the character may face. In Spider Man, Peter Parker is forced to overcome these
impediments so that he can help protect the people in his city. The task that first illustrates this quest is
Spider Man s revenge on the man who killed his uncle and committed robbery. To catch this criminal,
though, Spider Man has to learn how to use his mind: thinking quickly and on the spot. Not only does
it take courage for Spider Man to defeat this criminal, it takes quick reflexes that only his spidey
senses can offer him. In the end, Spider Man tricks the man and is successful in turning him into the
police. Another example of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being the hero that he is, Spider Man decides to save both the children and Mary Jane. A large battle
between Spider Man and the Green Goblin ensues, with the Green Goblin s eventual death, and Spider
Man s massive injuries being the result. Spider Man finally defeats the enemy, in his final ordeal,
saving New York from cold blooded villainy for a while. Therefore, by completing, undergoing, and
overcoming extremely difficult tasks such as battling with the enemy and saving the ones he loves, the
film Spider Man shows that it is part of the quest archetype.
Body paragraph 2:
A large part of any story, especially one with the quest archetype, is love. Since the first time he sees
Mary Jane at the age of six, Peter Parker (Spider Man) has loved her. At this time, Peter even asked his
aunt: Aunt May, Aunt May, is that an angel? This truly displays how much Spider Man adores Mary
Jane. In fact, Peter will do anything to help her. For example, near the beginning of the film, Peter
saves Mary Jane from slipping in the cafeteria. Because of his powerful love of Mary Jane, Peter also
faces consequences, though. His enemies, such as the Goblin Goblin, can manipulate him using Mary
Jane as a bribe, or ransom.

Pierre Simon Laplace s Theory Of Determinism
Pierre Simon Laplace was a famous scientist born on March 23, 1749, in Normandy, France. He went
through schooling and later enrolled at Caen University at the age of sixteen to study theology. His
father had an expectation for him to have a career in the church, in those times when people attended
the school Laplace attended, their usual job destinations were the church or army. Laplace went into
neither of those, even those he was studying theology. While at the school he discovered his love for
mathematics and discovered he had a talent in that field. Laplace made numerous contributions
through his work. Besides his work on mathematical astronomy, he also studied planetary orbits.
Laplace is famous for his discovery of what is famously known as Laplace s Demon, which is not an
actual demon. Laplace s Demon was first known as Laplace s Intellect. His thought experiment was
first discovered by him in 1814, which made it the first published work of determinism. Laplace s
Demon, is basically the idea of determinism. His other works, although should still not go unnoticed,
he had a great influence on the progress of the mathematical theory of mechanics, also the Laplace
Operator in potential theory, and the Laplace Transform in the study of differential equations. Laplace
believed that with his discovery, you could measure an atoms velocity and location. Basically, what it
means for his experiment is that if you can calculate those things, you can predict all future

What Does Running Mean To Me
Running is my sport, but it is so much more than a sport. Over the last few years, running has had a
large influence on my life. I compete in both cross country and track, completed a marathon, ran over
300 miles last summer, and ran 250 miles over the previous one. The amount of time I spend running
may seem excessive to some, but I know that what the sport has taught me about myself and about life
is well worth the miles. Running has become my escape and has taught me how to better deal with the
ups and downs of life. When I am stressed or upset, there is nothing like a run. For just a little while
nothing else matters except for charging up the next hill, dodging the next puddle, or hopping over the
next branch. Runs give me perspective. When my world seems to be testing, studying, stress, and
headaches, a good run centers me. The familiar sounds of my racing heart, my steady breaths, and my
feet hitting the ground relaxes me and reminds me that everything will to turn out alright. This is why

The Importance Of Cultural Diversity In Schools
When it comes to cultural diversity in schools, a lot of issues have the potential to come up. Currently,
I feel that I am somewhat competent of the cultural diversity that exists in the world, but I have a lot
more to learn. Some important things to consider when working with diverse populations are the
morals and values that specific cultures hold and how they differ from what I know and live by.
Becoming more aware of other cultures will help me be able to work with everyone no matter what
culture they identify with. One thing that I think students will benefit from in schools is having a
group to identify with whether is may be a culturally diverse group of people from many different
places or a group solely for a specific culture. With these groups, we can help educate all students in
the school to help them become more aware of their peers and help create a healthier and more
accepting environment.

The Intellectual Rise of Islam
The Intellectual Rise of Islam
The Islamic Golden age provided the Abbasid Caliphate with an immense amount of political power
and influence. The empire controlled lands from West Africa to parts of current day Iran and the new
capital, Baghdad, quickly developed to into a large and advanced city . With control over previous
Greek, Egyptian, and Persian lands, the locality of the empire set base for the academic, philosophical
and medicinal advancement that define the Islamic Golden Age. Several schools of thought began
setting up in Baghdad, such as Gundishapur which brought Greek medicine, science, and philosophy
to the Islamic culture. Schools like these helped Islamic scholars to learn from these texts in order to
build their own thoughts and treatises. The pursuit for academic advancement in fields of philosophy,
technology, and medicine defines the Golden Age of Islam at it allowed a proliferation of scholars
from different regions to study under one empire and one language. The size and stability of the
Caliphate of the time proves their political and economic power, however the success of the society
would not have amounted to its potential if it were not for the academic advances that flourished
throughout this time period. The translation of Hellenic philosophers provided the stepping stone for
Islamic philosophy. For example, Islamic Neoplatonism began flourishing under the first systematic

Death is Unpleasant, My Friend
The Litigator got what he wanted. A copper tinted key that appealed small in his palms, yet was as
heavy as a stone. While looking at an unmarked gravestone, another man bled eternally in the six foot
hole. Despite the man s dedication to not move his palm from the wound, most of the blood had flown
out of his body and into the soil. Taking a look at the man in the grave, the Litigator caressed the left
side of his stubble with the tip of his index finger. Drips of precipitation occasionally interrupted his
finger from stroking the hairs. It rained for six days; no sunshine was seen. Moonlight was all that

have come from grammar websites where I was learning the rules. I said I would like to work on five
different grammar sheets. Within this semester I have been improving in grammar. I got an app that
quizzes me on grammar usage; I also have done a few worksheets, though I do think the app is better.
I think I have stayed the same for the grammar category in my writing assignments. I do feel as if I
understand the rules better but I do not think I have shown improvement.
Details
Another goal I set for myself was putting more details in my essays. I was asked to define what I
meant by descriptive point, I meant a point that explains what I mean exactly. For example, while
talking about assisted suicide I do not just want to say people die, I want to explain why people die
and how. I think I have gotten a lot better in this category, which is making my writing make

Psychology Is The Study Of An Organism s Behavior And...
Psychology is the study of an organism s behaviour and mental processes and how they are effected
by the organism s mental and physical environment. Psychology takes into consideration one s
sensation and perception; consciousness; learning; memory; thinking, reasoning and language; and
emotions and motivation. In an effort to fully understand these complex ideas, I experimented with
visual and auditory impairment.
I stimulated my visual impairment by tying a blind fold over my eyes in a relatively comfortable place
and making sure minimal light got through. For the first half hour, I wondered around the house to get
comfortable with my vision impairment. I went from the first floor of my house to the fourth floor on
my own with no external help. On my way back up, I was given challenges to find certain things and
to bring them to a certain area. As I did these tasks, I sensed that someone was close to me or in my
social or intemet proximity; when anything happened, I was susceptible to the little noises I heard, and
reacted immediately. This was orienting response.
As I was walking back up to the first floor, I had to relearn some of my visual strategies to adapt with
my current situation. For example, one challenge was to find a specific type of body cream. I
completed the challenge based on the feel of the bottle. This was almost recalling my latent learning.
This was one of the many situations that made me realize how much I rely on my tactile sense after
my vision. As

Summary Of The Diary Of A Wimpy Kid
Note by Author: This fanfiction is supposed to be a twist of The Diary of a Wimpy Kid As the title of
the book series suggests, it s about a wimpy kid who goes through many unfortunate events. I have
preserved the name of the characters, while changing some of the personalities. Some of the plot has
also been changed. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. What if you have no sugar? It ll just
be sour. All I hear is Oh, it will be fine, or Things will get better, but I know well enough it won t. I ve
been bullied, I ve been beat, I ve been framed, I ve been laughed at. It doesn t stop. My family doesn t
care either. My mom is too busy to worry about me and my dad left me years ago. My brother went to
pursue a music career and never came back. I m all alone. At school they called me a loser; I don t
even go there anymore. I stay at my house all day, scrounging for food in the fridge. Sometimes I lie
on my bed thinking about questions I can t answer. Was I a mistake? Was I a failure? Did I do
something wrong? Why won t anyone help me? Is it because I m too much of a disgrace? Why was I
born? I remember back in kindergarden, I had a friend. Just one. His name was Rowley. I remember
his goofiness, his golden brown hair, his loyalty, and most of all, his gleaming smile. It all came to an
end though when I became too harsh for him to handle. I felt so much guilt after saying all those
things to him even though it was just for my reputation. The same year Rowley

Revenge In Agamemnon, The Libation Bearers, And The Furies
The Oresteia trilogy, including the tragedies Agamemnon, The Libation Bearers, and The Furies,
explores the theme of revenge on most of the characters. These plays contain a strong sense of
brutality against civilians because there were lots of slaughtering within the house of Atreus. The
decision of Agamemnon sacrificing his youngest daughter, Iphigenia as a stepping stone to travel and
conquer Troy provoked the death of several others throughout the play. Agamemnon clearly faces a
dilemma between war accomplishments and his daughter, but in the end he chose to have what was
best for his people. Because of this decision, justice was viewed as an act of retaliation because the
characters in Oresteia takes the role of providing punishments to another individual for their past
wrongs. Aeschylus presents the first play, Agamemnon as Clytemnestra sets a plan to kill
Agamemnon, the second play, The Libation Bearers as Orestes avenging against Clytemnestra for
murdering his father, and the third play, The Furies as Orestes getting tormented by matricide. This
must be understood that acts of vengeance fails to achieve true justice because it only creates
disharmony in society. Although the characters of Aegisthus, Clytemnestra, Orestes, and the Furies
were driven by revenge on someone else, Aeschylus reveals a final verdict in court is the best way to
achieve justice for societies.
In Agamemnon, Clytemnestra finally murders Agamemnon for killing her beloved daughter, Iphigenia

Ghost In The Wires Summary
Ghost in the Wires is a story of Kevin Mitnick s life. I find the book s topic compelling because I have
always been interested in doing what Kevin does: hacking and working with what makes technology
tick. He also opened my eyes to a new culture called phreaking . As I read, the book became even
more interesting, as Kevin not only told us what he did; he told us how he did it descriptively. He told
us comedic stories about pranks he would pull on businesses with his colleagues, his close run ins
with authority, and other tales that made me smile. Along with this were personal problems he
encountered, such as his divorce with Bonnie Vitello, and the involvement of the government in his
activities online, which made me feel closer to him as

Walter Benjamin s Hashish In Medievals
Walter Benjamin, a German philosopher and literary critic, is famous for his unique style of writing.
In his short story, Hashish in Marseilles, the author writes a detailed and artistic account of his
experience on hashish. While being in his hashish trance, Benjamin competently transforms everyday
scenery and experiences into a more complex and vibrant atmosphere. Through the use of diction and
persuasion techniques, the author is avidly able to illustrate the positivity of hashish in his ability to
analyze the world on a different level and ultimately its parallel to the emotion of being in love. First,
throughout the short story, the author s central argument relies on the positive effects of being in a
hashish trance. From the moment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Benjamin leaves the hotel and the drug starts taking effect, The feeling of loneliness is very
quickly lost (Benjamin 371). Soon, feelings of wonderful, beatific humor , canonical magic and
benevolence (371) take over. This positive diction reinforces the unique and enjoyable experience that
the author is undergoing, ultimately serving as a transition from his feeling of loneliness. Consistently,
the author continuously uses positive diction, appealing to the reader s emotions. The words ecstasy
(373), and rhythmic bliss (373), also serve to illustrate the positive difference in his mood from being
sober to intoxicated. Furthermore, the diction of the words magic (375) and dream (375) in the line
events took place in such a way that the appearance of things touched me with a magic wand, and I
sank into a dream of them, (375) further serves as a tool to enhance the reader s understanding of this
wonderful trance. Again, both the latter and former reveal the distinctness in the author s disposition
when he is on and off hashish. Towards the end of this short story, the author states that the hashish
trance abated, and the amorous joy dispensed, showing that all that was romantic and appealing while
he was intoxicated, now seems

Analysis Of The Us-China Trade Essay
Analysis of the US China Trade The U.S. trade deficit has risen more or less steadily since 1992. In
the second quarter of 2004, the trade deficit relative to GDP surpassed the 5 percent mark for the first
time. Many economists already considered trade deficits above 4 percent of GDP dangerously high.
The fear is that continued growth in this external imbalance of the U.S. economy will ultimately spook
overseas investors. http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2004/09/b193700.html The United States
and China share the most imbalanced bilateral trade relationship in the world. The United States
imports more goods from China than it exports to a tune of $202 billion dollars each year. All told,
China alone accounts for nearly 26% of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

deeper into debt with the rest of the world as Americans continue to rely on the strong flow of foreign
money, particularly from central banks in Asia, to finance the trade gap. China, Japan and other
foreign governments are some of the biggest holders of government securities, lending money to cover
the substantial federal budget deficit and helping to keep interest rates and home mortgage costs here
relatively low. As a result, American consumers are able to spend more and save less. The Effects of
the Unbalanced Trade The vast majority (about three fourths) of our trade deficit in manufactured
goods is caused by imbalanced trade flows with Asia, as shown in Figure 2. The deficits with Asia are
large and rapidly growing, despite very high rates of growth in the region until 1997. Europe and
NAFTA were each responsible for about 13% of the deficit in 1998. The U.S. ran a small surplus with
the other countries in the Western Hemisphere, and with the rest of the world, in this period.

Microsoft Windows The Original Vision For Windows
Microsoft Windows
The original vision for windows was formed by Bill Gates and Paul Allen, a computer on every
desktop in every home (Microsoft, 2014). This vision started to become a reality in June 1981 when
Microsoft ships its first computer containing MS DOS. MS DOS was a command line based operating
system where users had to type various commands to complete tasks. However Microsoft came to the
conclusion that this was not a very productive way of doing things and there had to be an easier way
of doing it. And so in November 1985 they released the first version of Windows, Windows 1.0. For
the first time it allowed users to use a mouse to click icons and interact with windows on the desktop
instead of typing in a command line. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the internet. Windows 95 had dial up support out of the box and first introduced revolutionary Plug

experienced the famous Windows Start Button . At the time of release Windows 95 sold 7 million
copies and was running on 80% of the world s computers. (Microsoft, 2014)
After Windows 95, users quickly saw Windows 98 and then Windows ME released. Within these
releases Microsoft added support for reading DVD discs and USB support. Various programs were
included as well to allow users to use their computer to carry out more tasks, this included the System
Restore Tool which allowed users to take their computers back before a problem occurred. (Microsoft,

Windows XP saw a redesigned look when it was released on 25th October 2001 and became one of
Microsoft most successful releases of all time. Along with Windows XP came remote desktop support
and the ability to encrypt files, as well as security and networking updates. Several other versions of
Windows XP were released which included for the first time a 64 bit processor version and a tablet

Glory Road Film Analysis
Glory Road is a film based on a true story starring the 1966 Texas Western Miners basketball team
coached by hall of famer Don Haskins. The story of Glory Road is not an average sports movie, but
the link between the sport of basketball back in the 60s as well as the history of racism. Don Haskins
was a high school girls basketball coach who got the opportunity to coach the typically all white men s
basketball team at Texas Western University. At this time football was king at the school and thriving,
while the basketball program scraped by with limited recruiting funds. The spectacle of this team
changed when coach Haskins recruited seven African American athletes and at this time, this act was
unheard of, and it took the country by the storm representing the evolution in society of racial
discrimination in the movie.
Throughout the history of the world Racism has been a major issue and surprisingly, still has its
problems today. There are abundant amount sports moves that emphasis the role of racism and its
qualities, but Glory Road achieves this feat by vibrantly explaining the role these players had on the
basketball court during this time in history. As stated in the chapter eight PowerPoint covering Race
and Ethnicity, that the definition of racism is: attitudes, actions, and policies based on the belief that
people in one racial category are inherently superior to people in one or more other categories . This
would equal true, because during this time in history

Health Inclusion Issues Affecting People with a Learning...
In this essay I will discuss the health inclusion issues affecting people with a learning disability with
regards to healthy eating and diet.
The Department of Health in England (DH 2001) defined learning disability as: a significantly
reduced capability in understanding new or information of greater complexity, to learn new skills as
well as a reduced ability to get by independently. The beginning of a learning disability is believed to
be cause by event taken place before adulthood, having a lasting effect on the person s development.
People with learning disabilities are 2.5 times more likely to have health problems than other people
without a learning disability (Disability Rights Commission 2006). Despite the knowledge of this,
recent reports have highlighted that there is evidence that people with learning disabilities have higher
levels of unmet health needs and also receive less or no effective treatment, even though the
legislation that explicitly sets out a legal framework for effective delivery of equal treatment and
health inclusion for all (Disability Rights Commission 2006 and 2007)
Inclusion is the opposite of exclusion it means to be fully included, and with regards to health, to
receive equal and fair access to all health services irrespective of a person s race, sex, and disability,
medical or other need, cultural background, age, belief and sexual orientation. It is about providing
equal opportunities and breaking down any barriers and getting rid of

Reducing Medication Errors During Long Term Care Facility...
Reducing Medication Errors in Long Term Care Facility
One of the critical core components of Skilled Nursing Facility is medication administration. As cited
by Tenhunen, Tanner, and Dahlen (2014), they stated that 88% of the residents living in the nursing
homes are aged 65 years old and older. They discussed that every five of administered medications in
nursing home has one probability of error. This means that about half of the residents have the
possibility of two or more medication errors daily. This applies to the Pasadena Care Center (PCC)
because its residents are mostly older adults who require medications on a daily basis. Moreover,
residents are prescribed with multiple medications, which make them vulnerable to medication errors.
The staff at PCC is trying their best to ensure safe medication administration, however, it still in need
of a major change. The goal of the proposed change is to decrease the medication errors in this
organization to ensure patient safety.
Background
The PCC is a Skilled Nursing Facility and is licensed for 99 beds. It provides specialized care services
ranging from short term, long term, and hospice care. The residents come from different racial
background and were diagnosed with acute to chronic medical conditions. The majority of residents
are older adults and often taking numerous medications, which put them at risk for medication errors.
As discussed by Lane, Troyer, Dienemann, Laditka, and Blanchette (2014), older individuals

  • 2. Stoicism in The Dreamer of the Rood Essay The Dream of the Rood uses stoicism to promise reward for suffering where Christ and the cross are linked, yet paralleled with the dreamer in that he joins in the comitatus of Christ through the cross therefor gaining redemption and eternal life and home in heaven. Christ himself though does not serve the same role as he does in biblical texts, here he is brave and stoic, like a great warrior. The Dream of the Rood presents us with the warrior who is Jesus. This Jesus is not the more passive character that modern religion embraces, but behaves as an Anglo Saxon warrior as he boldly runs to the cross for personal honor. Whereas his ascension is described as he sent forth his spirit (49) rather than gave up his spirit in the Bible, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cross, once plain wood, is now exalted over all forest tress (91) and risen to the status of a lord. The Dreamer is seeing for himself the validity of Christ s claims of rewarding his faithful servants. So the Cross, it seems, is now further gift giving and reciprocating by telling the Dreamer that he has been given a gift by Christ, who died for his sins. The Dreamer interprets the telling of this story by the Cross as a gift, and so in return for this gift that the Cross has given him, the Dreamer tells the story of his dream to others in order to tell the tale and let others know of this great gift that was given to all of humanity by Christ. Its resplendence in its appearance to the dreamer is testament to the validity of its sacrifice in going against traditional Germanic servitude, which is important to addressing the comingling of cultures in The Dream of the Rood. This is certainly not heroism and faithful retainership as the Anglo Saxons were used to it, but the Dreamer s vision of the Cross in all its glory gives credence to Christ as a lord and gift giver. The portrayal of Christ as a warrior fighting for his people in Dream of the Rood is a very powerful picture of a hero and savior. Christ is described here as a young hero, a warrior fighting to save his people. Christ and the tree are drenched in blood, covered with markings, and yet they stand strong and have courage. This is truly the mark of a hero in Anglo Saxon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Photography is an accessible tool for a person to communicate, frustrations, views, share their stories, and happiness. Within my community, there are very little resources for individuals who have been diagnosed with a mental illness to spend their time efficiently or participate in activities that can help them cope. After researching topics and resources, I feel that a community based program that can include photography for these clients would be highly beneficial. The symptoms of pain, numbness, tingling or weakness are the result of the inflammatory process within the carpal tunnel that leads to compression of the median nerve. The compression and resulting impingement of the median nerve results in ischemia. The ischemia leads to the symptoms of numbness, tingling, pain and weakness of the hand and/or forearm. The FNP should inspect the wrist and hands of the patient with symptoms of CTS, looking for skin color and temperature changes, deformities and muscle wasting. The active and passive range of motion (ROM) of the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists and fingers should be accessed. Muscle strength should be assessed at the shoulder, elbow, wrist and fingers. Cognitive Dysfunctions Memory takes the information that we receive, through vision, hearing, and touch, and places that information into a usable form and stores that information for later use. Drug addicts, however, have cognitive dysfunction as the areas of the brain that deal with addiction also destroy those same parts of the brain that deal with cognitive functions which include memory.Although many studies have been done in regards to the use of drugs and the damage they do both physically and mentally, there has not been much research systematically about the direct effects that opiates can have on the brain and the cognitive functions. Not understanding these adverse effects of opiates is what got us all to the point we are at today. The studies that have been performed over the last two decades have brought many harsh realities to light about the wonder painkiller drug. It is time to offer new research in alternative pain medication reeds and come to better pain management techniques and drug choices. It is clear from the research that opiates cannot be used as directed for a sustained amount of time, nor can they closely monitored by individuals as these drugs modify the brain s pleasure centers into craving drug that is supposed to help. • 7. Marketing Plan For A Grocery Store Outpost is a local business that prides itself on providing natural, organic food for the community. As part of its mission, it made the decisions to build the pop up store in the Lindsay Heights neighborhood to help create a stronger community while providing to viable source to buy fresh, affordable food. Part of Outpost s vision is to make sure a community has access to organically and locally produced foods (Mission Values). They also vow to work towards providing products that promote personal and environmental health. An Outpost pop up store would be an excellent fit in downtown Racine as it was successful in Milwaukee which faces similar problems to that of Racine. Outpost is a community oriented business and this would be a great opportunity for them to expand that model and help strengthen a community a quick drive south. Building a grocery store in Racine would show how much they care for the community that is Wisconsin, and how they want their community member s to live healthy lives, which starts by being able to purchase healthy food. The possible expansions for Outpost, along with the need for grocery stores and the chance to attract and retain residents are the main reason this would be an excellent opportunity to pursue. And now that the nationalism of the revolution, that project has shattered, what brings us together? Football? Criticising Carlos Salinas? Nothing more (media representative, Mexico, 2000). Amores Perros, directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu is a dark, multi plot film never seems to lose it s hold on you. The grime within the film, carried by it s subject matter makes for a very compelling watch. The three storylines we see interlink excellently, constantly showing you the way these characters lives link up with one another. The three aspects of the film are in some form, against the normality s. We see the Illegal Dog Fighting, The life of an Assassin, and then a Cheating Husband. This questions the point of authority in Amores Perros as it seems that there is no real consequence for these people s actions, other than the loss of their dog, or their spirit animal. A prime example of this is when Valeria s dog, Richie is trapped under the floorboards of her house, this can be viewed as a reflection of her position in life at that time, her cheating with Daniel, and the fact she loses the opportunity to be a model, is represented by the Dog being trapped under the floor. However, even with this small reprimanding of each character it still poses the question of authority in the Film. Iñárittu comments on Immigration heavily in his personal life. This can be seen also in Amores Perros as each of the characters are seen as outcasts to the world, with the exception of Valeria. Despite this, Iñárittu makes each character really interesting, making the mundane important, Highlighting the pandemic of Immigration seen in Mexico, Iñárittu is quoted to have ... • 9. King Henry V A Tyrant Analysis Almost every scholar who has learned about King Henry V can agree that he is one of the most popular kings of his time period. Henry V was a young king so many scholars have questioned his actions. Especially, due to his earlier lifestyle because Henry V was an immature adult before he became king but when he became king he seemed very wise. This might be because he did not want people to expect much of him. But, one question that has been debated for a long time now is: is Henry V a Christian King or a Machiavelli tyrant? This movie is about how the characters Charles Xavier and Eric Lensherr discover they have mutant powers. They take the names Professor X and Magneto and work together to recruit other humans with mutant powers to work for the United States government. They unite to stop Sebastian Shaw, another mutant who uses his power for evil, from starting a nuclear war. As late as the 1960 s people thought of anyone with a disability as stigmatic. If someone was different the mindset was they should be exterminated. This is really interesting to me because this mind set started to change in the 1960 s around the time of the civil rights movement and the women s rights movement, that is when the comics for the X Men came out. It was meant to show people, even though others are different, they could be special too. X Men was meant to show it is okay to be different and for your friends to be different. They also do a good job to show that not every difference is physical, several of the characters also look normal but have a mental ability. I think this shows it is okay to have a disability or to be different then other people. Not everyone is going to have the Ideal body or mind and it is okay. If you used to be different, you wanted to try to find a way to hide what made you different. This is also shown in the movie. The character named Beast wanted to find anyway to hide his disfigurement and went as far as to create a drug to cure himself so he would look normal. He offered the drug to Mystique also so she could always look normal. By the time he had created the drug Mystique had realized it is okay to be different, she had embraced it and turns down the drug. Beast still takes the drug because he is not comfortable with the way he thinks people perceive him, this is why he always tried to hide his disfigurement. However, when he takes the drug it makes the disfigurement worse. The mutants still accept him but now he has to live with the fact his minor disfigurement he could hide is now very prominent. This could have been avoided if he would have realized that just because he did not have what society deemed an ideal body, it was ok because his abnormality made him special. In the ... By 1842 London was the modern mega city of the world. For some of her 2.5 million inhabitants it was an exciting, fashionable and thriving metropolis. For many it was a city of squalor, decay, epidemics and early death and the disposal of the dead was becoming an increasing problem for the living. Enon Chapel was not the only place where such practices occurred, but it was the most notorious and provided useful propaganda horror for reform campaigners such as Walker. The government finally responded to the pressure, passing the Burial Act in 1852 that closed burial grounds in the city. Lewis Cass And Andrew Jackson s The Cherokee Removal Act The Cherokee Removal Act is believed to have been causation of prolonged engagement between the settlers of Georgia, Alabama, and parts of North and South Carolina up until 1836, when Andrew Jackson officially signed it into law. Andrew Jackson had a lot to say about the need for removal of natives and two main reasons why it has been such a lengthy procedure. Another man who also had something to say about the matter at hand was Lewis Cass who was Governor of the Michigan Territory from 1816 1831. Andrew Jackson in his state of the union address of 1830 had the pleasure to announce his long fought battle in favor of removal had began coming to existence. Humanity and Philanthropy were two of his main points for why this has been such a strenuous task put upon the nation by the natives. Humanity has often wept over the fate of the aborigines of this country, and philanthropy has been long busily employed in devising means to advert it. (127) Jacksonbrings up the point regarding Americans moving west and humanity not weeping at the fact that they leave but are rather joyful due to the freedoms of body and mind (128) America grants. Jackson even goes far as asking the American public How many thousands of our own people would gladly embrace removing to the west on such conditions? Donovan he is introducing us to the idea that missionaries now have a poor reputation due to their history. He says History has offered the opportunity to deflect and distort the meaning of missionary work in every age . For a long time a missionary was a person spreading the word of God and after years of doing so we have diminished many different beliefs, practices, cultures and history. At the time it was thought to be the right thing, to spread out and share the gospel to help people find meaning and acceptance. In today s age a missionary is a lot of different things, in many cases it is more focused on the health and physical wellbeing of the people. Many people still share the gospel through missionary work, but in other cases it is more of a material aid. Donovan introduces the book as a voyage of discovery he wants us to put our normal beliefs aside to see his perspective of living a missionaries life and struggling with the fact of if you are helping or hurting. Donovan speaks about the missionaries who came to East Africa after they were taken into slavery. This Chorus is made up of women celebrants of Dionysus, the Bacchae or Maenads. It is important to understand that the Chorus is not made up of the women celebrants from Thebes. Instead, the Chorus is made up of women who have traveled from Asia and followed Dionysus to Thebes. These women are true initiates of the Bacchae, unlike the women from Thebes who have not been officially inducted to the Maenads. This division makes it seem as though the women from Thebes are undergoing a hazing or probationary period to be sure they are worthy of entering the Maenads. There is an ongoing debate on whether the federal government should regulate the insurance industry as a result of the bailouts stemming from the Financial Crisis of 2008. Currently, state governments regulate the insurance industry. Proponents of federal regulation reason that states are inefficient in the duty of insurance regulation. Additionally, the federal government has economies of scale and may offer an increase in efficiency unlike state regulation. The federal government regulates industries due to inherent systemic risk to the country s economic environment. Systemic risk is the risk of collapse of an entire financial system or market. (SOURCE) For example, banking institutions such as Lehman Brothers, Merrell Lynch, and Goldman Sachs were major contributors to the financial crisis in 2008 because these institutions were systemically significant to the market. The insurance industry and the core activities of the industry, however, were not a major contributor to near collapse of the American economy. With these groups, we can help educate all students in the school to help them become more aware of their peers and help create a healthier and more accepting environment. Section 2: Personal Application of Theory: Learning about all of the different theories that contribute to the field of counseling has not only taught me a lot about the profession, but it has taught me a lot about myself personally. I strongly feel that I have learned so much about myself that I never knew before through learning about theories and potential interventions to use with my future students. With control over previous Greek, Egyptian, and Persian lands, the locality of the empire set base for the academic, philosophical and medicinal advancement that define the Islamic Golden Age. Several schools of thought began setting up in Baghdad, such as Gundishapur which brought Greek medicine, science, and philosophy to the Islamic culture. Schools like these helped Islamic scholars to learn from these texts in order to build their own thoughts and treatises. The pursuit for academic advancement in fields of philosophy, technology, and medicine defines the Golden Age of Islam at it allowed a proliferation of scholars from different regions to study under one empire and one language. While looking at an unmarked gravestone, another man bled eternally in the six foot hole. Despite the man s dedication to not move his palm from the wound, most of the blood had flown out of his body and into the soil. Taking a look at the man in the grave, the Litigator caressed the left side of his stubble with the tip of his index finger. Drips of precipitation occasionally interrupted his finger from stroking the hairs. It rained for six days; no sunshine was seen. Moonlight was all that provided a visionary source in Portland. Once you enter, you will see why they are sixes and sevens. The man in the grave commented. The Litigator let out a sudden guffaw and responded calmly with, Your comments won t matter once you re down there forever. Alone. Six feet under. I also need to do progress reports so my manager can see where I am at for my white paper: The Right to Assisted Suicide. At the beginning of the semester I was asked to write a progress report of my writing thus far. The final test that I will use is to go back and do the grammar test that we had used previously. I hope to get a lot higher of a score then I did. The worksheets I have used have come from grammar websites where I was learning the rules. I said I would like to work on five different grammar sheets. Within this semester I have been improving in grammar. I got an app that quizzes me on grammar usage; I also have done a few worksheets, though I do think the app is better. I think I have stayed the same for the grammar category in my writing assignments. I do feel as if I understand the rules better but I do not think I have shown improvement. Details Another goal I set for myself was putting more details in my essays. I was asked to define what I meant by descriptive point, I meant a point that explains what I mean exactly. • 39. Psychology Is The Study Of An Organism s Behavior And... Psychology is the study of an organism s behaviour and mental processes and how they are effected by the organism s mental and physical environment. Psychology takes into consideration one s sensation and perception; consciousness; learning; memory; thinking, reasoning and language; and emotions and motivation. In an effort to fully understand these complex ideas, I experimented with visual and auditory impairment. I stimulated my visual impairment by tying a blind fold over my eyes in a relatively comfortable place and making sure minimal light got through. For the first half hour, I wondered around the house to get comfortable with my vision impairment. I went from the first floor of my house to the fourth floor on my own with no external help. On my way back up, I was given challenges to find certain things and to bring them to a certain area. As I did these tasks, I sensed that someone was close to me or in my social or intemet proximity; when anything happened, I was susceptible to the little noises I heard, and reacted immediately. This was orienting response. As I was walking back up to the first floor, I had to relearn some of my visual strategies to adapt with my current situation. • 41. Revenge In Agamemnon, The Libation Bearers, And The Furies The Oresteia trilogy, including the tragedies Agamemnon, The Libation Bearers, and The Furies, explores the theme of revenge on most of the characters. These plays contain a strong sense of brutality against civilians because there were lots of slaughtering within the house of Atreus. The decision of Agamemnon sacrificing his youngest daughter, Iphigenia as a stepping stone to travel and conquer Troy provoked the death of several others throughout the play. Agamemnon clearly faces a dilemma between war accomplishments and his daughter, but in the end he chose to have what was best for his people. Because of this decision, justice was viewed as an act of retaliation because the characters in Oresteia takes the role of providing punishments to another individual for their past wrongs. Aeschylus presents the first play, Agamemnon as Clytemnestra sets a plan to kill Agamemnon, the second play, The Libation Bearers as Orestes avenging against Clytemnestra for murdering his father, and the third play, The Furies as Orestes getting tormented by matricide. This must be understood that acts of vengeance fails to achieve true justice because it only creates disharmony in society. Although the characters of Aegisthus, Clytemnestra, Orestes, and the Furies were driven by revenge on someone else, Aeschylus reveals a final verdict in court is the best way to achieve justice for societies.
