1. Introvert Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of introversion presents a unique set of challenges that might not
be immediately apparent. Unlike more concrete subjects, delving into the intricacies of
introversion requires a nuanced understanding of human behavior, psychology, and personal
experiences. This topic demands a delicate balance between sharing personal insights and
presenting well-researched information.
Introversion, as a subject, is subjective and can vary greatly from person to person. This diversity
makes it challenging to generalize and capture the essence of introversion comprehensively.
Furthermore, it involves exploring the cultural and societal perceptions surrounding introversion,
adding an extra layer of complexity to the essay.
Expressing one's thoughts and experiences as an introvert may also pose difficulties. Introverts,
by nature, may find it challenging to articulate their feelings and perspectives openly, making it
essential for the essay writer to navigate a path that is both introspective and relatable to a
broader audience.
Researching the topic thoroughly is crucial, as a well-rounded essay on introversion should not
only draw from personal experiences but also integrate psychological studies, sociological
perspectives, and perhaps historical context. Balancing these elements requires a careful blend of
academic rigor and personal reflection.
In conclusion, composing an essay on introversion is a complex task that involves navigating
through the intricate nuances of human behavior and societal expectations. Successfully
capturing the essence of introversion demands a thoughtful blend of personal insights, research,
and a keen understanding of the diverse nature of introverted experiences.

2. Violence of Decolonization Essay
Violence of Decolonization
Frantz Fanon argues the decolonization must always be a violent phenomenon
because resisting a colonizing power using only politics will not work. Europeans
justified colonization by treating it as gods work. They believed that god wanted
then to occupy all lands and spread the word of god to savages of darker skin color.
Fanon joined the Algerian Nationalist Movement when the Algeria was being
colonized be the French. Many examples of violence written of in The Wretched of
the Earth were taken from the struggle for independence in Algeria. Also the writing
is sympathetic towards colonized natives. Fanon claims decolonization causes violent
actions from both settlers and natives and creates intolerant ... Show more content on

Because politics seemed to be a dead end process, the natives felt that fighting was
their only way to regain independence.
Native revolts would rarely change anything politically; it gave individuals a
temporary feeling that they were not inferior to their oppressors by causing disorder
(Fanon 94). When the settler s dominance became imminent, Natives tended to
struggle violently with themselves. The anger that possessed for their oppressors was
vented through crime and battles with other native tribes. Fanon says that is was an
excuse to ignore their oppressors, accept colonization of their land, and to allow
history to move on (Fanon 54).
European settlers had the idea that by some divine right, all land was created for
them and the control of the mother country. The land that that did not occupy
would not prosper without their influence and would go back to the middle ages
(Fanon 51). The burden of God s good work entailed white men to impose his
European religion, medicines, and civilized practices onto natives that they
believed to be evil because of the plague and disease they carried. The natives were
called savages or other primitive nicknames because of their underdeveloped
technology and weaponry compared to the settlers (Fanon 41). Settlers consider
native s aggression as evil acts against god.
Natives see the settlers as the bringers of violence.

either group and slaughter them. In the end, the natives both benefitted from the
Europeans but suffered at huge costs of culture, and

Essay on war
War has been a part of human culture since it s birth. It has led to a great many
massacres and has shown us the evil that exists within the souls of humanity. Some
have even gone as far as saying that war is human nature. To better understand the
reasons behind war and how it affects others, I ve examined several different
societies and cultures so as to better understand the necessity of war and see the cause
of their external war attitude. To do so, different variables from two topics (military
institutions and external war attitude) were matched up and crossed so as to look into
the answers to these questions. The variables were then calculated and through these

Warfare to the Somalis was seen as a division of labor that was the principal means
of acquiring cattle. In times of war, peasants would be taken from /their/his/ home

and it was the duty of every able bodied man to take part in it (pg 133 Philip). In
order for one to become wealthy within a society, they must earn it through the
privilege of authority. This comes from the reward of conduct pleasing to one s
superiors. For the most part, the wealth of a man comes from the exercise of poetical
virtues, obedience to authority, wisdom in council, and courage in war.
During battle, leadership among the Somalis is led by a general who the king
feels will be the right one only after having a consultation with the appropriate
spirits. He also selected the people of certain sazas to guard the king. These people
did so simply by staying home. The leaders of the armies were forceful during
wartime. Every able bodied man was expected to turn out, but though the penalty for
cowardice in the field was instant death by burning, people who simply stayed at
home were merely fined on their chief s return (P. 193 Philips).
The generals were important as a moral rallying point. It is said that the army
would lose heart if their general is killed in battle , but as soon as his successor is
found, their courage would return. The decision to engage in war was made mainly
by the king and his orders
8. Gymnast Research Paper
Why is training as a professional gymnast so demanding on gymnast s bodies? To
partake in gymnastics it takes a vast amount of upper body strength. This strength
alone is hard to build and maintain. Trainings are extreme with any hours, lots of
physical demands as well as mentally challenging . Great bursts of energy and power
are needed to use this strength. Also a great amount of advanced physics come into
executing skills perfectly. All of these aspects effect gymnasts can be positive and or
negative. One of the major issues that effect gymnasts is the age they begin. Most
elite gymnasts begin from the ages two to five From these young ages there is no

Also early preparation for gymnastics is one of the most important aspects. From
personally knowing older gymnasts who started at ages three to five I know that
this early intense training affects them immensely, both physically and mentally.
Recreational coaches have stated that a the age of three children should not be
training or competing competitively. However elite Coaches believe that beginning
to learn and over stretch children will assist with their gymnasts in later in their
career, however this is not the case after this career is over. The current methods
for teaching gymnasts are extremely demanding at advanced levels, require that
children give up many areas of their lives. This can have extremely negative effects
on developing children. Girls in gymnastics are especially vulnerable to delayed
puberty. Menstrual cycles are often delayed and or stopped for an extended amount
of time. Both girls and boys are susceptible to stunted growth due to over training and
excessive dieting and the extreme stress that is associated with gymnastics. A
gymnast s career is usually from childhood to possibly early adult hood ages four to
twenty seven. After this time many gymnasts begin to break down either physically
or mentally. Their bodies cannot handle the pressure and they no longer have the
power or strength to do the hard skills. Starting gymnasts at such a young age is
mostly to get the most of their time and effort into gymnasts before they burn out . Its
not necessarily the gymnastics that is disadvantaging the gymnasts it s the amount of
strenuous hours and injuries that occur during the trainings. Some retired gymnasts
had to retire at a very young age because or joint injuries. The intensity that they had
to train at was extreme, and it was stated that it was hard to train when their joints
could not
9. Why Was Humanism Important In The Renaissance
Why is humanism such a big factor in past and present society? Humanism is an
outlook of thought attaching prime importance to human rather than divine or
supernatural matters. For the Renaissance, humanism was a big cultural movement
that brought thought of Greek and Roman thoughts. Humanism was expressed in the
Renaissancethrough the works of art, music, and literature. During the Renaissance,
church music had an a big impact because a lot of people were hardcore religious
figures. A lot of these tunes were based on a cappella which is singing with no beat
or music, and some of the music did have instruments playing in the background.
Music embodied humanism because religion was huge to people back then and that is
how people used to live during this time. Also during this time, composers, seeing
how many instruments have come about, started writing music to match up with an
instrumental sound. Which was new to a lot of people considering they hadn t heard

Before the renaissance, art wasn t a big deal, people painted and that was that.
Since famous artists had come out with paintings that no one has seen anything
like it before, many were surprised by the way art was making a change. Artists
would go into churches and paint what ever knew design they had in mind and
people would go and admire the astonishing art work of for example, Michelangelo
who painted the sistine chapel. Humanism was connected through art by getting
people to start the drawings and paintings like they have today, as well as money to
come in with all the famous paintings. Before the Renaissance, no one knew what a
2 point perspective drawing was, until artist Paolo Veronese painted, The Marriage
at Cana which was a 2 point perspective drawing. A lot of painters connected with
people on a spiritual way by painting religious figures, like Jesus

The perception of wine being upmarket and sophisticated is helping in bringing
about this change. One sign of this happening is the emergence of wine clubs in a

after April 1, 2001, there has been an increasing interest in the Indian market by
international players. However the import duties and state taxes (which will be
discussed later in more detail) remain high. They continue to be a major impediment
to the foreign entrants into the Indian market. Local Industry: Maharashtra,
Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh (a recent entrant) are the three major wine
producing regions in India. Maharashtra, on the western coast of India, is the major
wine producing region, accounting for 94% of the total wine produced in the

12. Lack Of Diversity In Health Care Essay
The United States of America is known as a land of significant racial and ethnic
diversity, but over the past few decades, our nation has witnessed an astonishing
growth in its minority populations. With such a powerful surge, demographers
anticipate that by 2050, more than half of all US citizens will be members of
minority groups. This current demographic shift is turning the United Statesinto a true
mosaic of ethnicities, cultures, and races, all while the composition of its health care
workforce remains distinctly unrepresentative of the general population. With the
fluctuating US demographics, there will be a more noticeable increase in the lack of
minority representation within the physician workforce, which will welcome more
consequences... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Evidence demonstrates that the scarcity of underrepresented minorities among
physicians prevents appropriate cultural competence within the health care system,
limits the access to quality health care services and medical research, and weakens
efforts to eliminate current health disparities. One solution to the lack of diversity in
the medical profession is an increase in the number of minority physicians, which
causes for an increased enrollment and commencement of minority students in health
care professional schools. This is easier said than done there is a relatively small
number of academically prepared minority students in the pool of medical/health
program applicants. To achieve even modest degrees of diversity, admission standards
need not be lowered but greater weight must be placed on other equally important
indicators of merit when evaluating many underrepresented minority applicants. The
United States government also plays an important role with funded programs that are
aimed in increasing the representation of minorities in the health profession, such as
the loan forgiveness program and other strategies through the Health Resources and
Services Administration

Forensic Chemistry involves a variety of different techniques in which have the
ability to analyse samples found on crime scene, one set of techniques is that of

Chromatography is a process commonly used to separate substances in accordance to
their differential distribution between what is referred to as a stationary phase and a
moving or mobile phase . There are a variety of different types of chromatography
some include; paper chromatography, gas chromatography and high performance
liquid chromatography.
Chromatography works by analyzing a substance in terms of its retention time when
passing through what is referred to as a stationary phase. Retention time refers to the
amount of time a substance takes to pass through the stationary phase, upon analysis
the retention time determines what substances are present within a sample. For
example, if a particular substance within takes longer than another to reach the
detector results can then be categorized into which substances are present within the
sample. The results found are presented in what is called a chromatograph.

14. Native Americans And American History
Native Americans have remained a prominent aspect of American history; not just a
history of the people, but a history of the land and the extensive traditions that
shadowed it, like footprints in the sand. However, when the Europeans staggered over
with indifference towards the natives and their unusual customs, a conflict erupted
that dates back hundreds of years and continues into the present. As the United States
grew further more intolerant of the natives, the daring judgment to either assimilate
into the American society, or face extinction of the Indian race and culture was
presented. Some natives elected to conform to American culture, while abandoning
their Indian heritage. Like immigrants, who presently migrate into America,... Show

The Society s pleas to the federal government proved successful when Congress
created the Indian Claims Commission, which would settle Native grievances with
the American government, in 1946 (2). As the years persisted, so did the
transformation of the Cherokee people, noted as the Cherokee Culture Change in the
1800s. In 1804, the Moravians opened a school, which taught Cherokee children how
to be civilized . The children were taught how to speak, dress, and practice
Christianity. The young boys were instructed on farming techniques, and the
adolescent girls were trained to be docile and submissive (3).
One of the most ingenious adaptions to the American society was the system of
writing for the official Cherokee language. Sequoyah crafted eighty six symbols for
each sound, consequently enabling numerous Cherokees to learn how to read and
write. Adding on to their countless accomplishments from assimilation into American
culture, the Cherokee commenced the launch of the Cherokee Phoenix, a newspaper
which expressed the opinions, viewpoints, and rich history of the Cherokee Nation(3).
The most significant reasoning for the Natives assimilation into American society
was a desire for an advanced life; disassociated from the worsening conditions on the
reservations, and the fatal massacres brought

This quote shows his naive and innocent nature due to the fact he did not know
what type of place he was at. His innocence is shown by this situation due to the
fact he did not realize this setting is a brothel and that the lady is a mistress. The
trait of innocence can lead to the distrust of women, which is another trait of a
Romantic hero. The young man of this tale shows distrust of women through his
actions of talking to the mistress in this tale. The example for this is, Now, truly, I
am in luck, replied Robin, cunningly, and so indeed is my kinsman, the Major, in
having so pretty a housekeeper. But I prithee trouble him to step to the door; I will

civilization and the domestic sphere. Romantic heroes often distrust women because
women represent civilization, and this represents cities versus the country. The
distrust of women can lead to the distrust of urban settings. Romantic heroes
16. Prejudice and Racism in Conrad’s Heart of Darkness
Essay
Racism in Conrad s Heart of Darkness
Imagine floating up the dark waters of the Congo River in the Heart of Africa. The
calmness of the water and the dense fog make the hairs stand up on the back of
your neck as you wonder if the steamboats crew will eat you as you sleep. These
things occur in Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness. Although the book is undeniably
racist, was the author, Joseph Conrad, racist? Conrad was racist because he uses
racial slurs, the slavery and unfair treatment of the native Africans in his book.
The use of racist language is very prevalent in Heart of Darkness. Conrad, through
Marlow, the main character, uses the word nigger when talking about native Africans
on many occasions. The fool nigger had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A normal person today would feed and pay those who work for them. It is
considered morally sound to do this. In Heart of Darkness, no one thinks it is
wrong to not feed or pay those who work for you. It would be considered wrong to
help feed the workers who are starving. Conrad raises no point in his book that this
act is unacceptable. Conrad then believes it is okay. In Heart of Darkness,it is
considered reasonable to make the natives at fault for things management has done.
The manager sets Marlow s trade goods on fire and blames a native for the blaze.
This act dehumanized the native much like a slave.
Black figures strolled about listlessly, pouring water on the glow, whence proceeded a
sound of hissing; steam ascended in the moonlight; the beaten nigger groaned

(Conrad 28)
If the native people in Heart of Darkness were paid for their work it would be so
minute that the natives would hardly be able to buy enough food to bring themselves
out of starvation.
Besides that, they had given them every week three pieces of brass wire each about
nine inches long, and the theory was they were to buy their provisions with that
currency in river side villages.

The natives who received the wire never had a chance to use it because the boat
never stopped at any villages. Conrad s relaxed writing style makes it sound
humorous that the natives were treated unfairly and that is very racist.

This type of violence is unbelievable given the modern times and shape the globe is
assuming. It is an unbelievable demonization of gay sexuality. And though this
script is about homophobic hate crimes and a gay man, the message is relevant to
any minority group. Asians, females, African Americans Hispanics, all have felt
these human rights desecrations in the United States. The sad reality is that this are
not events that took place in the 50s or 60s; sexism, homophobia, and racism are
still a problem in the current world and episodes like this makes sure people do not
forget. Shepard s tragic death is still a painful reminder of how, regardless of the
advancement the gay rights movement has garnered over the years, homophobia
remains prevalent in the society not only in the United States but also other parts of
the world (Tigner, 2002). Incumbent President Barack Obama signed into law a bill
that was in favor of gayism. The bill allows all people to choose their sexuality

It has a lot of stereotyping for example, having graffiti on the walls and that drugs
are dealt on the premises. Also it showed that the school had certain types of
groups and portrayed that the school had fights and that they happen very often. In
some case the black American and other minority groups like the Hispanics were
the one getting into fight. At the beginning of the clip, a school bell is ringing; this
sets the atmosphere and allows the audience to know that the film is based in a
school. The music played throughout the scenes is a rock/rap song that is fast beat
one such song was Guns and Roses welcome to the jungle, this song give them
impression that the school was no longer serving the purpose for which it was
established. The lighting of most of the clips is low lighting. This creates an
inquiry mind kind of atmosphere and could represent that what is going to happen
is not going to be a good aftermath. For example when the two boys are seen
throwing objects out of the window it is brighter than other scenes and that shows
the boys think what they are doing is right. The darkness of the clips depicts the time
or year the movie was
19. Exceptions Of Non Charitable Trust
Introduction to Non charitable trust
Trusts can be widely categorized according to their objects, which are either purposes
or persons. The purposes of trust can be either charitable or non charitable trust. A
charitable trust is one whose purpose falls within the legal definition of charity. On
the other hand, a non charitable trust has a purpose which falls outside the legal
definition of charity. A non charitable trust is not for the public. Non charitable trust
are beneficiary to people, include the trust to further the purpose of club, association
to a trust provide housing for native children being schooled off their reserve. A non
charitable is a type of trust without ascertainable beneficiaries. Usually struck down
by the court because the court thinks that this type of trust is not enforceable by
anyone. As a general rule, a trust would fail if there is no beneficiary to enforce it. In
Re Astor s Settlement Trust, apart from uncertainty, the gift failed on the ground that
there was nobody that could enforce the trust. In Morice v Bishop of Durham, Sir
William Grant stated that: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are a number of exceptions to the invalidity of non charitable trust. In order
for a non charitable trust to be valid, the purpose of the trust must fall within the five
exceptions. In the case of Re Endacott, it laid down the principle that a non charitable
trust is invalid if the purpose did not fit into one of the exceptions. Gift must be
limited to particular purposes.
Exception 1 : Specific animals
The first exception is the trust must be made for the specific animal. In the case of
Re Dean, the trust was held to be valid despite the fact that no one could enforce the
trust, the purpose of the trust was for the maintenance of testator s horses and

20. Michelle Obama Rhetorical Analysis
In a speech, it is essential for the speaker, to have some sort of positive connection
to the audience. When addressing the audience in a proper and formal way, the
speaker gets the opportunity to lease his or her intention more easily. Some
speakers chose to use rhetorical methods to appeal to the audience by feelings, logic
and etc. Some speakers even use their own personal life as a guideline, to intervene
with the audience. That is exactly what Michelle Obama does in her speech to a
graduation ceremony at Bowie State University, a public university in Maryland, US
in 2013. Michelle Obama addresses the problems regarding discrimination in the US

There are various of ways of engaging the audience in a speech, Michelle Obama
uses a lot of different methods to do so. The most common narrative tool that is
being used in the speech, are the three famous appeal forms, pathos, ethos and
logos. It is rarely seen that there is no use of the appeal forms in a speech. The use
of this narrative technique, gives the sender an easy way of interacting with the
receivers emotions, and further on it automatically helps the sender to lease the
overall intention to the audience. The use of pathos is seen already in the begging
of the speech, as Michelle Obama starts off by giving a tribute to the family
members of the students: Give another round of applause to all the family
members who are here today. Yes indeed. This is your day, too. But most of all, to
the Bowie State University class of 2013, congratulations. (e.g. Page 1, Line 7 12)

21. Duality In Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde Essay
Discuss Stevenson s presentation of duality in The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and
Mr Hyde .
In The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde , Robert Louis Stevenson presents
duality as one of the key themes throughout the novel. This is reflected
predominantly through the main characters of Dr Jekyll and his evil side, Mr
Hyde. Stevenson also mirrors the theme of a dual nature in the settings he creates,
by choosing London as the surroundings and in the descriptions of Dr Jekyll s
house and the difference between his and Hyde s rooms. The use of duality is also
shown in Stevenson s use of the themes of light and dark and religious opposites
such as good and evil.
Dr Henry Jekyll, the protagonist, is a reputable middle class gentleman born into
wealth, with many male friends and a respectable profession. He is described as a
large, well made, smooth faced man of fifty, with...every mark of capacity and
kindness. Whereas, Mr Hyde, the antagonist, is first described, he is represented by

Tourism is the travel tour activities which provides travelers leisure facilities and

phenomenon, involves the politics, economy, culture, history, geography, law, and
other social fields. Generally speaking, tourism has a profound impact for the country.
Tourism gradually has become a prevalent activity all over the world. Compared to

employed means there will have the opportunity to make money, not only for the

tourism helps local establish the foundation of the economy, and the local government

Long term effects of global tourism on economy
However, there are some negative points of tourism. One of them is the seasonal
employment in some places, and this will lead to the many people facing the
problem of unemployment outside of the peak tourist season. For example, this will
occur in tourist attractions and resort towns, if an attraction opens to the visitors,
like skiing in Swiss in the winter. The skiing coaches will teach people how to go
skiing, but once the snow melted, they will lose their jobs and the staff as well.
Furthermore, the impact of tourism on the environment is a significant issue as the
climate change is most troublesome problem. Over the years, the environmental
pollution caused by tourism was almost out of control, such as deforestation and
CO2 emissions from increased air travel, has already

Based on the literature reviewed, the national system of innovation basically consists
of three segments: universities, governments, and the businesses, with each segment
interacting with the others, while at the same time playing their individual roles. The
figure below is a simple illustration of how these three key players come to form the
NIS. It is also important to note that NIS is a complex conglomerate of interacting
independent parties that has to do with the ability to plan and integrate policies and
institutions. The Universities play the role of undertaking basic science and
technology research; educate scientists and technologists needed by governments and

Following an endogenous growth framework, the study specifies a model that best
captures the effect of national innovation system on economic growth. Given the
growing empirical evidences supporting the positive effect of innovation on
economic growth (Hulya Ulku, 2007; Yanrui Wu, 2012) we control for other factors
that influences long run growth and generalize the specification of a growth equation
that accounts for the effects of national innovation system on economic growth. Thus,
in deriving our empirical model for estimating this relationship for BRICS, we posit
that: ln(Yit) = О± + ОІ1 ln(UEit)+ ОІ2 ln(RDit) + ОІ3 ln(TMit) + н›Њ1 ln(PTit) +

27. Broken Window Crime Theory Essay
There are many references to a variety of theories in the study of criminology. I am
going to focus on the broken window crime theory, particularly in reference to
misdemeanor community problems. Many of these crimes are considered victimless
crimes of disorder, identified as graffiti, criminal mischief, prostitution, marijuana
sale/use and loitering, to name a few. The broken window theory is not centuries old
however it was responsible for inner city clean ups all over the nation.
The broken window theory was introduced by James Q. Wilson and George L.
Kelling in an article titled Broken Windows: The Police and Neighborhood Safety,
which appeared in Atlantic Monthly magazine in March 1982. Wilson s and Kelling
s idea that the lack of attention to small scale problems/neglect within a
neighborhood lends itself to bigger issues of crime created many changes in how law
enforcement reacted to problems. The broken window theory begins with the

This image of disorder then encourages further incivility, telling residents and other
citizens that it does not care about how their neighborhood represents itself. This
encourages further uncivilized activity leading to outbreaks of greater crime.
Aesthetically, the property appears derelict and unwanted. This appearance lends
itself to the loitering of homeless individuals where crashpads become homes to
runaways. This environment escalates to drug venues where loitering, refuse and
graffiti problems exist. Graffiti tags indicating particular gang logo markings create
turf wars amongst rival gangs. Then, an escalation of problems unfolds for law
enforcement. Meanwhile, the neighborhood, once considered

29. Types Of Interrogation Techniques Employed By Police
And...
There are many types of interrogation techniques employed by police and federal
investigative agencies as well as the various branches of the military. Hirn Mueller,
Schreiber Compo, Molina, Bryon, and Pimentel (2015) studied tactics including
suggestive questions, heavy use of yes/no questions, rapid fire questions, and
complex questions. Madon, Guyll, Scherr, Greathouse, and Wells (2012) looked at
how the length of the interview plays a part in interrogations. Our results suggest that
suspects who expect a lengthy interrogationmay be particularly susceptible to the
influence of proximal consequences and, accordingly, may be more likely to confess
than are suspects who do not expect a lengthy interrogation (Madon et al., 2012, p.

1).
Over the years, history has shown that innocent people have provided false
confessions and been convicted of crimes after being subjected to the use of the
aforementioned interrogation techniques. As a result, interrogation methods are
being questioned (Kassin et al., 2010). In the extraordinary 1932 case of Brown v.
Mississippi, three Black tenant farmers confessed to murder after they were
brutally whipped with a steel studded leather belt beatings that would continue, the
men were told, unless they confessed, (Kassin, 1997, p. 225). The well publicized
case of the Central Park Five, a group of young men who were convicted and
sentenced to extensive prison terms for the beating and rape of a woman New York
City s Central Park, is another example. Controversy arose when, years after the
crime was committed and the men were convicted and sentenced to lengthy prison
terms, another man came forward and confessed to the crime, forcing the court to re
examine the original convictions. This investigation determined that the suspects
were coerced into providing false confessions and they were subsequently released, as
a result of People v. Wise (2002).
The Innocence Project states that of the 300 wrongful convictions overturned in the
United States, about 35% involved a false confession (False Confessions, 2015).
Additionally, there are a number of reasons people are compelled to give false
confessions. Some of these include intimidation of the interviewee through

31. Who Owns the Power to Control Communication
Some theorists seem to suggest that the power to control communication is held by
the producers of messages whereas other theorists argue that the power to control
interpretations of texts are held by the consumers of culture operating within specific
cultural contexts. Which of these positions is true? Why?
It can be agreed to a large extent that the power to control interpretations of texts are
held by the consumers of culture operating within specific cultural contexts.
However, this is not to refute completely that producers of messages hold some power
to control communication. Previous studies of the theories of communication provide

345). He felt that while encoders, or the producers of texts, played an important role
in communication, decoders, also known as the consumers who deduce the meaning
of the texts, were marginally more prevailing. The encoding phase is where a
common set of codes are used to put together a message but this phase takes note of
the audience as both source and receiver of the message. An example would be the
mindset of a journalist whose main purpose of producing an article is to provide the
reader with something they desire to read. This implies that the consumers of texts
heavily influence the producers into developing texts with messages that the reader
wants to derive from them.
Another reason why the consumers of texts hold power over the producers is simply
the copious amount of texts that are made available to them. This increase in the
choice between media and within media has led to development of narrowcasting and
niche audiences. With the advent of mass consumerism and technology, the
production of texts have skyrocketed, leaving the audience spoilt for choice.
Raymond Bauer (1964) placed an emphasis on choice that was anchored in and
ensured by an independent, even obstinate, audience. The active individual was a
modern citizen consumer patrolling the periphery of his or her consciousness with a
vigilant consumerism (Biocca, n.d.). Bauer (1964) felt that the consumers could not

Pamela by Samuel Richardson is a famous 18th century novel which arguably

Mr. B. to later reforming him and getting married. While it does present the
narrative of the reformation of a potential rake, the romance between two characters
of different social classes and the eventual social climbing to achieve a happy
ending, the real interest is in the literary form. The main character writes in letters
and, later, in journal entries, recounting the experiences she s undergone to her
parents (and to the reader). The person who reads Pamela is enthralled into a

knows who her readers are. Due to this confidentiality, it is easy for the reader to

35. Mid 1700 s Music Composers and the Operatic Reform
Essay
Beginning in the mid 1700s composers started to resist the changes that occurred in
opera. They began to resist: the preferential treatment that the divas and castrati
received, the excessive and replaceable arias and the melodic phrasing, and the
extreme vocal embellishments. Coming out of the opera seria where the focus
remained squarely on the divas, castrati, and where the da capo aria was the
standard form of the time Christoph Willibald Gluck was the leader of the Operatic
Reform. While Christoph Willibald Gluck and other composers of the time did not
abandon the da capo aria entirely, they began to modify it to more effectively to fit
the telling of a story. With the reform, operawas returned to expressing dramatic truth.

Also more formal structures became standard. One example of one of these formal
structures is the sonata form. The sonata form is one of the most common forms in
classical a music. This form is commonly used in the first movement of sonatas,
string quartets, symphonies and even concerts. It has three main sections which are
the exposition, development, and the recapitulation. One composer who used the
sonata form exclusively was Domenico Scarlatti. Scarlatti was one of the most
prominent keyboard composers of his time. The clavier sonatas of Domenico
Scarlatti form a separate and distinct species, written mostly in one movement, in
song form, and in homophonic style. An example of this is in Scarlatti s Sonata in D
Major. Scarlatti s sonatas represent a transitional type between the older and the
Viennese sonata
One of the most important composers of the early Symphony, Johann Stamitz
standardized the four movement plan of what would become the symphony. What
Johann brought to the music that was innovative was that he played with different
instrument timbres like flutes, oboes, brass instruments, and clarinet. Stamitz was the
first composer to use it consistently: well over half his symphonies and nine of his ten
orchestral trios are in four movements. He also contributed to the development of

36. The Exoneration Of Randall Dale Adams
The Exoneration of Randall Dale Adams
On November 27th, 1976 Mr. Adams car ran out of fuel and he was forced to walk
to the nearest gas station (Radelet, 2011). Shortly after this Mr. Adams was given a
ride by local teenager David Ray Harris who was driving a stolen vehicle. The two
then spent the day together, even going to see a drive in movie. That night Mr.
Adams returned to a motel where he was staying. Mr. Harris, now alone, was stopped
by Officer Wood and his Partner Teresa Turko shortly after midnight. Officer Wood
was shot and killed by Harris, who sped off too quickly for Officer Turko to get a
plate number or a good look at the shooter. Directly after this Mr. Harris drove home
and for the next few days, bragged to his friends ... Show more content on

Adams did not. (Radelet, 2011). After Adams took the stand and pleaded once again
his ignorance of the crime, the prosecution presented a signed document that they
claimed was Adams confession; but in reality stated that at some point during the day,
Adams had been near the scene of the crime. They then sent to the stand surprise
witnesses that the defense was not informed of. The defense intended to cross
examine the witnesses but the prosecutions said that they were out of town and
would be unable to return. Not surprisingly the jury returned a verdict of guilty; now
the prosecution would turn its attention to Mr. Adams sentence (Martin, 2011).
Seeking the death penalty the prosecution called on two expert witnesses:
psychiatrist Dr. James Grigson, whom was known as Dr. Death, and Dr. John
Holbrook, who was the former chief of psychiatry for the Texas Department of
Corrections (Radelet, 2011). The American Psychiatric Association has stated on
multiple occasions that it is impossible to predict future criminal acts of offenders
(Radelet, 2011). However, Grigson and Holbrook testified that if Adams were to be
released, he would most certainly be a great danger to society. Grigson had testified
before this in hundreds of similar cases that ended with a death penalty, hence why he
is known as Dr. Death. For the death
37. Interpersonal Communication Analysis
Interpersonal communication entails swapping viewpoints with others by means of a
variety of approaches, for example; expressions, actions, tone, face expression and
body posture. Interpersonal abilities are the essence of businesses for the reason that
effectual communication verbalizes effective productivity and simplifies cooperation.
It inspires the effectiveness of important business tasks such as supervision, guidance,
promotion and solving disagreements inside an corporation. Communication
proficiencies are vital for each and every one in any professional organization,
specifically for leaders and owners. Some individuals are purely talented in
interpersonal skills, although those who aren t can learn and practice effective

A good method on how to be a decent listener is learning to have an open and
approachable understanding. As you look for openings to widen the awareness
when listening, and to obtain fresh thoughts or perceptions, instead of supporting
the current ideas or interpretation. The need to listen to others as well as to be
heard. It occurred to me that the need to be heard is probably one of the most
fundamental needs a individual can have. We need acknowledgement. We need
someone to look at us. We need to know that others know we exist. We need to know
that not only do others know we exist but that our existence means something. In my
overview I gave a short analysis on the significance of listening. I discover that
effective listening is vital and essential to communicating in cooperation to desires
and demands inside an interactive
38. Pornography In The Media
Pornography is the portrayal of sexual subject matter for the purpose of sexual
arousal. Pornography may be presented in a variety of media, including books,
magazines, postcards, photographs, sculpture, drawing, painting, animation, sound
recording, writing, film, video, and video games. The term applies to the depiction
of the act rather than the act itself, and so does not include live exhibitions like sex
shows and striptease. The primary subjects of present day pornographic depictions
are pornographic models, who pose for still photographs, and pornographic actors or
porn stars, who perform in pornographic films. If dramatic skills are not involved, a
performer in a porn film may also be called a model.
Various groups within society... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is also some evidence that pornography can be used to treat voyeurism.
Etymology
The word is similar to the Modern Greek ПЂОїПЃОЅОїОіПЃО±П†ОЇО±, which
derives from the Greek words ПЂПЊПЃОЅО·, and ОіПЃО¬П†ОµО№ОЅ, and the
suffix ОЇО±, thus meaning a written description or illustration of prostitutes or
prostitution . No date is known for the first use of the word in Greek; the earliest
attested, most related word one could find in Greek, is, pornographos, i.e. someone
writing about harlots , in the Deipnosophists of Athenaeus. The Modern Greek word
pornographia is a translation of the French pornographie.
Pornographie was in use in the French language during the 1800s. The word did not
enter the English language as the familiar word until 1857 or as a French import in
New Orleans in 1842.
Pornography is often abbreviated to porn or porno in informal language.
History
Depictions of a sexual nature are older than civilization as depictions such as the
venus figurines and rock art have existed since prehistoric times. When large scale
excavations of Pompeii were undertaken in the 1860s, much of the erotic art of the
Romans came to light, shocking the Victorians who saw themselves as the
intellectual heirs of the Roman Empire. They did not know what to do with the
frank depictions of sexuality and endeavored to hide them away from everyone but
upper class scholars. The moveable objects were locked away in the
39. Leonard Mandel Research Paper
Leonard Mandel, an extraordinary magnate optical scientist of his time, was a
powerful voice on behalf of physics. He was the Lee DuBridge Professor of Physics
and Optics at the University of Rochester: a masterful scientist, exemplary teacher,
generous colleague, and beloved family man. He is perhaps one of the most amazing
founding fathers of what we call; quantum optics, evolving into the revolution of so
called most exciting areas in science. He trained society s understanding of quantum
mechanicsand lasting ways through ingenious experiments that provided convincing
demonstrations and precise tests of many of the most counterintuitive aspects of the
quantum nature of light. Rarely has any one individual so intimately investigated and
so dramatically advanced our understanding of the quantum mechanical nature of
light. Mandel s original interest did not involve light mechanics whatsoever, but in
the late 1940 s he decided to switch, in which extraordinary findings came about. He
wanted to know how light was measured, how light worked, how light bypassed all
of our minds through the years. He wanted to know the light field of study by the
measurements through a camera, and the spectacle mirrors. The optical side of
science, which interested him like no other science.... Show more content on

He was a strict follower of the Optical Society of America. In return, he earned the
Max Born Award Prize, being the first of many to receive such an honorable
achievement. Leonard also receive a major medal in the society of physics called the
Frederic Ives Medal, which distinguished his overall distinction in the impenetrable
optics. His immense loyal brain to the field of optics rewarded our society to get a
better understanding of the functions of complex
40. Concert At The Pennfield Performing Arts Center
On Thursday, May 26, 2016, I attended the Pennfield Choral Concert at the
Pennfield Performing Arts Center, in Pennfield Michigan. The theme of this choral
concert was Pop Rocks, which was a compilation of popular and rock and roll
songs, including songs from the 70s and 80s to the present. There were also songs
featuring specific choirs, such as the composition Girl Power, which featured the
Women s Choir. This was an evening full of medleys with unique twists that made
the concert quite entertaining. Having never attended a choral concert, other than
ones that I have personally performed in, it was very nice to enjoy one as an
audience member! There were quite a few aspects of this performance that I enjoyed!
The first being that all... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One aspect of the concert that I observed was the disproportion between the number
of male and female performers. The female performers outnumbered the male
performers in each choir, making the performance more female led. Male voices are
the key to any choir because they can hit the bass notes that are the foundation of all
music. It would have been nice to hear more bass notes in the pieces, yet I
understand how challenging that can be with such a few number of male
performers. Nevertheless, the male participants did a fantastic job of trying their
hardest to belt out the bass notes in order to help the music keep its foundation.
During the concert, there were a few times where I had a physical response to the
music being sung. The first physical response that I had while listening to the
medley with Living on a Prayer in it, was goosebumps. Living on a Prayer has such
beautiful harmonies, and the choir did a superb job of hitting those harmonies
perfectly, which caused the goosebumps. Another time during the performance, I had
to catch my breath because the song Rock Battle of Love had the piece Purple Rain
in it, and with the dissonance and grand pause, it was such a joy to listen to. The
dissonance of this song helped to create suspense for the audience, which then
perfectly transitioned to the grand pause. This, like most grand pauses, threw the

Hung Liu Regarded as one of the greatest Chinese painters in the US, one of Hung
Liu s oil on canvas art pieces, Loom (1999), is located in the San Francisco Museum
of Modern Art. Hung Liu, born in 1948 in Changchun, People s Republic, China, is a
contemporary artist, and one of the first Chinese artists to make a successful career in
the western world.
Months after she was born, her city was sieged under the People s Liberation Army;
over a hundred and sixty thousand citizens starved to death. She grew up as a
peasant, where she worked amongst the local villagers. In her mid twenties, she was
caught up in China s Cultural Revolution, where the People s Republic was
established. This revolution played a deep role in the development of her ... Show

The woman is not gazing at the camera or posing, she is just doing her routinely
work, weaving fabric that is a necessity in daily life. Liu was impressed at the woman
not paying attention to the camera lenses; she kept her composer and focus on a
difficult machine, which is considerably larger than her. Along with the woman are
colorful birds, representing her thoughts, flocking around the loom. Liu concentrated
on the woman, and felt the possible emotions she could have perceived, what came
into her mind as she worked.
The woman may have been in a lower class, but the product she produced is
inevitably going to bring joy to other people. Working the loom is a beautiful work
on its own and a meticulous craftsmanship. The colorful birds and flowers, taken
from traditional Chinese paintings, are a personification of the beauty of the work
and the woman s soul. The loom itself is an influence of western culture onto Chinese
culture, and the colorful beads of paint cascading down the painting is a process that
is a mix of both Chinese ink painting and American Action
42. The Importance Of Cultural Globalization
Cultural globalization supposes, not only empiric human contacts among
civilizations (transporter revolution), but also intellectual instruments of
understanding among contact groups in a more or less brutal manner. Let us call
humanist sciences those intellectual instruments, having a wide enough meaning:
history, philology, linguistics, archeology, sociology, philosophy. Trying to create a
global culture, an important role is played by foreign languages. English is
undoubtedly placed in the top of hierarchy, being used both in Romania and in the
whole world in all its types: written, spoken, formal, informal as well as registers
specialized for economy, law, technique, journalism etc. It has become lingua franca
by excellence and keeps on strengthening this domination through a process of self
consolidation. It also reached Romania as the main language of international
communication in the field of business, policy, administration, science and academic
world, being as well the dominant language of global publications and popular culture
. The main language in the field of computers is English, being the written language
for Windows and Internet protocols. At the same time, English is the language used
in safety procedures, such as air traffic control. Over two thirds of total scientists in
the world write in English, three quarters of international correspondence is written
in English and 80% of information in recovery systems of world electronic data is
stocked in
43. Examples Of Conflict In Father And Son
The clash between ideas of one generation and the ideas of the next creates conflicts
between parents and children. In this case, between fathers and sons. For example in
Ivan Turgenev s novel Father and Sons (1862), the central conflict is depicted through
the motif of generational differences, which are revealed through the portrayal of
each character and his or her relationship to others.
In Father and Sons, Turgenev reveals this conflict between the traditionalists Pavel
in contrast to the modernist, Bazarov. This conflict is raised because of each
characters generation and belief. For example Pavel is from an older generation who
follows an old traditional Russian ideology. However, Bazarov rejects the old
traditional Russian ideologies and concentrate on the modern thinking of Nihilism.
Because of the two very different ideologies and beliefs, it is inevitable that there
will be a sense of tension and hatred building between the two characters which will
eventually lead to climax when one of the characters goes overboard, which is
shown during the duel of Bazarov and Pavel.

For example between parents and their children. Like in the novel, the parents are
from an old time period like the traditionalist Pavel and children are from a modern
time period like the Nihilist Bazarov. Just like the conflict between Pavel and
Bazarov, Parents and children have conflict every day because of their different
beliefs. Parents don t like it when their children are on their phone because when
they grew up such things did not exist. However, for children they want to be on the
phone because in their generation this is a normal thing. Everyone has a different set
of beliefs that make up their personality; however, this is all derived from their

A reflection on the tools used in the assessment of pain in the elderly
Pain is a phenomenon which is defined as an unpleasant as well as emotional
experience is a very common phenomenon in older adults. The level of pain in adults
should therefore be controlled at levels that are acceptable to these patients in order
to allow them to maintain their optimal level of performance as possible. Pain is
however not a normal part of the aging process and it is associated with various
chronic (such as osteoarthritis) as well as acute (such as surgery and cancer)
conditions.
I my view as well as the view of the evidence based academic literature, pain is a
common and yet subjective experience for several older adults and despite its
prevalence, the existing body of evidence suggests that it is poorly assessed and
managed in the older patients. The cognitive impairment as a consequence of
delirium and dementia represents a big challenge to the management of pain in
older adults since they render these patients unable to verbalize the level of their
pain. It is therefore the responsibility of us the Nurses as an integral element of a
larger interdisciplinary care team to comprehend the myths that are associated with
the management of pain as well as use the right tools in the assessment of the nature
of pain being experienced by the older adults. In the next few paragraphs, I present
my views of the four main tools of assessing pain the older adults. These include the
