Disadvantages Of Team Training
Team Training
Team building and team training is quite an effective way of keeping the morale, of team members, up
and their individual capabilities, in parallel to the objectives of a whole team. Being a part of the
business that values the team building the same as it does in the case of gathering new customers, is
really something which only the luckier ones get. Believe us! There are many team building methods
that a brand can use for increasing the team bonding and thus leading to a productivity level, even
higher than before. But of all the methods, team training is the most effective one. In this method, the
performance of the individuals, who are working towards a common goal, is coordinated in such a
way that one member s capabilities supports the other member.

These goals and objectives change as the team grows in different stages, i.e. forming stage, storming
stage, and norming stage. Each stage features its own reasoning, advantages, and disadvantages. For
example, the forming stage deals with binding the group, so that the group members get to know each
other and begin to have a sense of what an actual team looks like. It also focuses on aligning the
individual purposes so that they reinforce each other s goals as if they have shared targets. Moreover,
the roles of the leader are also established here.
The storming stage takes the objectives of the forming stage to a level above while adding more to it.
This stage ensures that all the members are enjoying good working relationships with each other and
are capable of sharing thoughts without any difficulty. This leads to nurturing the shared problem
solving skills and assists in the generation of new ideas. In this stage and from here on, short term
objectives and milestones are used to get a clear picture of how the team is performing

Analytical Failure Of Iraq During Persian Gulf War
Analytical Failure of Iraq in Persian Gulf War Affiliation Student s Name Introduction Failures
analysis is the process of gathering data and information in order to find the cause of failure especially
when the goal had been set. Analytical failure of war, on the other hand, is failures by decision making
bodies to make appropriate decision which will lead to victory. This failures occurs when military and
political leaders come up with war strategies which when implemented leads to failures or losses. War
analytical failures are always attributed to lack of sufficient intelligence information about the
opponents, failure to predict possible long term consequences, having misleading information, poor
leadership and overreliance on weapons without knowing their weakness. In contrast, however,
military disaster can befall some territories, irrespective well informed their generals are, because of
weakness in their abilities. Super powerful countries may also face the same problem because their
leaders may misperceive on coming warnings and threats or make poor calculations in the way they
respond to possible catastrophic dangers1. Strategic intelligence is essential in making the most
appropriate decisions when it comes to defense policies. There should be proper gathering, analysis
and appreciations of pertinent and factual data. In most intelligence failures, problems always starts
with collection of data from the ground by professionals who then analyses

Harp In The Uk
The Harp is the national instrument and national emblem of Ireland and the tradition was passed from
one generation to another. It was defined by Irish aristocracy, before going out of fashion in the 16th
century and almost becoming obsolete in the 19th century. Plehov, Mel. The Pocket Encyclopaedia of
Ireland (Dublin 12: M.H. Gill Co, 2012), Page 120.
The evolution of the harp is significant because the first instrument associated with harping in the
Gaelic world was known as a Cruit derived from the related Welsh instrument the crwth . It has been
suggested that the word clàirseach was created for the triangular frame harp which replaced the Cruit.
The ancient Celtic harp (Cruit) had metal, (usually brass) strings which harpists plucked ... Show more

powerful bursts of electrical activity occurring in the brain. These bursts of electrical activity cause
seizures to occur which affects muscle control, vision, movements, etc. Epilepsy is characterized into
two types, one is partial epileptic seizures and the other type is generalized epileptic seizures.
Partial/focal seizures are ones that start in a particular part of the brain and they affect one part of the
body, which depends on the location in the brain where the activity occur. Symptoms of this kind of
seizures include, but are not limited to

Similarities In Narratives In Romantic Operas
To discover similarities in narratives in Romantic operas, I defer to Ernest Newman and George
Upton, who are professional music analysts. Newman has written multiple publications on the great
operas of Don Giovanni, Figaro, Turandot, and others. In his book The Wagner Operas, he analyzes
nine of Wagner s operas (Mastersingers of Nuremburg, The Valkyrie, Seigfired and Parsifial among
others). A common theme in many of Wagner s operas is that they involve the supernatural, and this is
in agreement with the immense drama of the Romantic era operas. For example, in The Flying
Dutchman, a phantom ship appears and a ghostly Dutchman (as the title suggests) requests the
marriage of a sailor s daughter to redeem himself (Newman, 1963). Upton, has compiled plots and
music of modern operas into a book published in 1926 as an addendum to his Standard Handbooks on
Music. One of the operas he summarizes is that of Gioacchino Rossini s William Tell. The death of a
herdsman s daughter at the hands of a tyrant s follower results in the request to Tell to protect the
herdsman. In a square, Tell refuses so succumb to the tyrant s wishes and is jailed. The herdsman
rounds up a rescue squad to help him and succeeds. This is a divergence from the Wagnerian
obsession with the supernatural, but is still an excellent example of Romantic opera (Upton, 1926). ...

Summary Of Characters In The Golden Compass
Alex de Castro Three years ago, my family adopted a dog. I ended up being the one who was most
reluctant toward the idea and still was even after he had entered our family. I was the one who thought
of all the negatives of we don t need a dog. For the first few weeks he was in the house, I did not like
him. He knew it too. Over time, I started to relate and bond with this dog and saw how he was
different, he did not act like a normal dog of his breed, he was different from the rest. I find the same
thing with myself in my family, not like the others most of the time, but both of us are included and
loved. Now, this dog and I are closer than any of my other family members are with him. In the novel
The Golden Compass, the author Philip Pullman develops a similar type of relationship for each of his
characters called daemons. These companions reflect a certain person s identity, soul, and changes in
feeling through their different forms, usually as animals. I am being considered for Mr. Pullman s next
novel and he has asked me to develop daemons of my own for the next book in his series. After a few
days of thinking I have decided on three animals that would be a great representation of me in daemon
form, an owl, a lemur, and a butterfly. Throughout my academic career, I have tended to be a good
student who got excellent in elementary school and straight A s in middle school. So what better
daemon to have than owl to represent this side of me. I tend to understand

Depression Symptoms And Warning Signs
Due to the fact of depression doesn t always seem to be obvious, and present in everyone. There are
many people out there who did not notice their depression until it gets bad. In the consequence of that,
it is extremely important for us to beware of the symptoms that causes of depression because it will be
the first step for us in seeking help for it. In an article called Depression Symptoms and Warning Signs
written by Melinda Smith. The author explains that It s important to remember that these symptoms
can be part of life s normal lows. The more symptoms you have, the stronger they are, and the longer
they ve lasted, the more likely it is that you re dealing with depression . Smith explanation made it
very clear that we should all take notice, and good caution of what is not so normal in our lives, so we
could be on top of our health as well as to prevent any problems. Smith goes on to explores about
several signs/symptoms of depression which include feeling of helplessness, hopelessness, loss of
interest in daily activities, appetite or weight changes, sleep changes, anger or irritability, low energy,
trouble focusing, unexplained aches and pains . In the result of all those symptoms that are listed
above, it is extremely critical to pay our minds to. So if we do see any uncertainty, we want to be able
to find a cure, and start a treatment before it gets worse.

Nt1310 Unit 1 Data Storage System
Equation ref{e.cost2} depends on distribution of the data as well. Let $T_{cap}$ be the total capacity
of disk in a node and $T_{used}$ be the total used space. Therefore the ideal storage on each
volume/disk should be $I_{storage} = T_{cap} / T_{used}$. The volume of data density is difference
between ideal storage and current DFS used ratio, in other words volume data density for one node is
$DD_{volume} = I_{storage} dfsUsedRatio$, where $DD_{volume}$ is volume of data density. A
positive value of $DD_{volume}$ indicates that disk is under utilized and a negative indicates that
disk is over utilized. Now the we can calculate data distribution around the data center. This is done by
computing nodes with maximum skew from $I_{storage}$ values, for that we sum all the absolute
values of $DD_{volume}$. The node data density is calculated as: $node_{DD}=
sum_{d_{i}epsilon DD_{volume}(I)} left | d_{i} right |$ cite{jiraissue1312}, where
$node_{DD}$ is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The larger blocks offer several advantages over smaller blocks. It reduces the number of interactions
with NameNode and also reduces a size of metadata that needs to be stored in the NameNode. It
reduces extra network overheads by keeping a persistent TCP connection to the DataNode. In Figure
ref{fig.executionTime}, the execution time for writing and deleting the larger blocks is almost similar
to the smaller blocks. However, HDFS blocks are larger in comparison to disk blocks, in order to
minimize the cost of seeks. Thus, in our case, all the interaction of deletion is done through a
checkerNode. The checkerNode sends the delete command, and rest is handled by overwriting
daemon in each nodes. The overwrite daemon read the metadata from inodes, it does not need to make
a connection with NameNode or checkerNode. Thus, it reduces the extra network overhead and boost
the performance of deletion

Contraception in Wakiso Distract, Uganda. This study focuses on thirty women who have undergone
horrible situations when it came to contraception. This case study was conducted from August and
September of 2013. Between these months many women have reported negative feedback for the use
of contraception. This is a major problem, which can affect the way that they use contraception in the
future.
The area that is being studied in this article is Wakiso Distract, Uganda. In this area new contraception
is being used. The researchers are taking 30 women from this area and are testing them on what they
think about contraception. Family planning is a high unmet need for families here in Uganda. The
high fertility rates in this area are due to unplanned pregnancies from results of not using
contraception s. In this study, the researchers used thirty women from Wakiso Distract, Uganda. These
women have used some form of contraception for at least one year. To get the information that they
needed, they conducted in depth interviews with the thirty women from Uganda. To do this interview
all consent was obtained by each woman that was being interviewed or tested. The case study is the
use of contraception in Uganda. The information that is provided is anywhere from negative and

Case Against Flag Desecration
On August 22nd, 1984 Gregory Lee Johnson was arrested on the grounds of desecrating the American
flag in downtown Dallas, Texas. His trial was held roughly three months later, where Johnson was
then convicted of the crime, sentenced to one year in prison, and forced to pay a fine (Goldstein 37).
After a series of appeal attempts, the decision of Johnson s case was finally reviewed by the Texas
Court of Appeals in 1988 and was then overturned. The court of appeals said that Johnson s actions
were protected by his 1st amendment right to freedom of speech. Texas then took that ruling to the
Supreme Court where they ruled again in Johnson s favor saying that Texas law against flag
desecration was unconstitutional and violated first amendment rights. ... Show more content on

Skemp and Weinberg brought Johnson s case before the appeals court on September 26th where they
continued to argue that Johnson s prosecution was in violation of the First Amendment and that since
his actions were symbolic and committed during a political protest that it was acceptable (Goldstein
38). The attorneys also stated the Johnson s flag burning met the test of expression set out by the O
Brien test in Supreme Court case United States v. O Brien of 1967. The test set a number of guidelines
that should be used to decide whether a law that prohibits free speech violates the First Amendment.
The test said that the law in question must be: within the constitutional power of the government to
enact, further an important or substantial government interest and that interest must be unrelated to the
suppression of speech and prohibit no more speech than is essential to further the said interest
(Goldstein 25). John D. Nation responded for Texas saying that Johnson created and explosive
situation by burning the flag, with people angry and yelling, and the demonstration could have easily
led to a physical reaction from those that were nearby and felt offended or opposed. Nation also said
there was a need to preserve our country s flag as a symbol of national unity and strength. Additionally
he argued that burning the flag harmed a person s sense of national identity and that people
assumingly link that with what is represented by the flag and so destroying it could put Johnson in
danger (Goldstein 52). On January 23, 1986, Judge John Vance ruled to uphold Johnson s conviction
on the grounds that it complied with the O Brien test and that the law was to protect Texas interest in
preventing breaches of the peace. On February 7th Johnson then

Hunger Games Movie Analysis
CLOSE UPS The movie that I chose to analyze is The Hunger Games. This movie is about a girl,
Katniss Everdeen, who volunteers as tribute for the seventy fourth annual Hunger Games in the place
of her sister, Primrose Everdeen, whose name was picked and announced at the reaping. Katniss, the
protagonist played by Jennifer Lawrence, is forced to go outside of her comfort zone when she has to
make friends and train to kill people in order to win the Games and come home to her sister, Primrose,
who is played by Willow Shields. The Hunger Games was directed by Gary Ross and was released on
March 23rd, 2012. The year that this movie was made, a Canadian filmmaker, named James Cameron,
became the first person to visit Challenger Deep, the US President Barack Obama secured Democratic
presidential nomination, and The Avengers premiered in Los Angeles. Watching this movie, now in
2017, still gives me the same feeling it did when I watched it for the first time in 2012. I can see that
the cast and crew for The Hunger Games were picked out carefully. That being said, I thought this
movie was marvelous. The crew did a great job with the elements used in determining the type of
movie, mise en scene, cinematography, acting, editing, and sound. There are many types of movies,
such as narrative movies, documentary movies, and experimental movies. This movie is an example of
a narrative movie. This movie is fiction and entertains most people. Narrative films may be broken

technology are portrayed from alchemy and robotics in the Sandman to biology and chemistry in

In his later actions, Frankenstein again behaves obsessively, by pursuing his own creation, absolutely
confident that only its revengeful death would provide a solution, no matter what the cost.
In the case of Nathaniel, we see the same type of obsession although, due to the shortness of The
Sandman and its purposeful fog , we don t have enough information to competently judge Nathaniel s
actions. The result, nevertheless, is strikingly similar. Nathaniel, incapable of recovering from his first
obsession about the Sandman is only to fall into another extremity in his love towards the lifeless
Olympia. How ironic are his own words, O you glorious profound nature ... only you, you alone,

It should be noted that during the rest of the time, Frankenstein is rather inactive and passive, always
providing a moral excuse for that. He does not realize the deceitful nature of his behavior when he

when he deceivingly thinks that a return to a normal, domestic life will erase all his nightmares.

Call Of Duty Black Ops Ad Analysis
Call of Duty: Black Ops, a high quality game full of exhilarating and intense combat. The Call of
Duty: Black Ops ad is pretty much a mini action film with neverending gun fire and explosions,
jumping from one action packed scene to another. However, instead of soldiers wielding assault rifles,
shotguns, handheld missile launchers, etc. there are everyday people, hinting at the title of the ad
There s a Soldier in All of Us. It was greatly anticipated that the Call of Duty: Black Ops commercial
ad would exhibit the same qualities as the videogame itself. The Call of Duty: Black Ops There s a
soldier in All of Us ad uses a diverse cast, over the top Hollywood style action, and thrilling music to

Forms Of Oppressionation Of The Holocaust
Many when discussing the events of genocide often analyze the systems of oppression used against
the targeted groups. These forms of oppression are often systemic and multilateral. When examining
the Holocaust, one of history s, and humanity s, most infamous and darkest moments, we see the
varying forms of oppression in cases such as political censorship in the form of imprisonment of those
who leaned left, economic persecution when their means and standard of living was forcibly taken
from them such as their businesses, houses, and jobs, as well as the forced relocation and deportation
to the ghettos and finally the concentration camps. Many however, do not see the effects of oppression
post genocide, as many could argue that silencing different interpretations and mediums that
memorializing genocide can actually be forms of oppression towards survivors, as their stories and
expression are not utilized when creating the holistic memory of the Holocaust.
The idea of an official narrative of the Holocaust and its memorialization is rooted more closely in its
recall of emotion than in establishing factual and divergent interpretations of experiences, this
constructive forgetting, (Christie, 2) meaning that creating a singular memory narrative of pain and
suffering is more pressing than in attempting to portray divergent and intersectional experiences
during the genocide. While this constrictive forgetting can be very successful in spreading awareness
of the genocide, it can also sometimes ostracize works of memorialization by actual survivors
representation of every victim and survivor s narrative, meaning their own purpose and experience of
the Holocaust can sometimes be sacrificed for the purpose of invoking greater emotion in order to
spread the national consciousness of the gross violations
Case in point, both works examined, Maus: A Survivor s Tale: My Father Bleeds History by Art
Spiegelman and film Life is Beautiful by Roberto Benigni offer different interpretations that diverge
from the central narrative voice used when memorializing genocide, and as such may be looked down
upon. Maus first began as a serialized comic strip, which employs and is associated with thoughts of
boyhood and adolescence

John Dalton s Atomic Theory
John Dalton
Lived 1766 1844.
John Dalton s Atomic Theory laid the foundations of modern chemistry.
John Dalton s Early Life and Education
John Dalton was born on September 6, 1766, in Eaglesfield, England.
His father was a weaver, who owned a house and a small amount of land. Both of his parents were
Quakers.
Although Quakers were Christians, they were seen as dissenters by the established Church of England.
As a result of this, John Dalton s higher educational opportunities were restricted to dissenting places
of education.
John Dalton was an intelligent child, who took an interest in the world around him and tried to learn as
much as he could about everything.
He attended his village school until he was 11, and then began helping as a teacher.
At age 15, he started helping his older brother John to run a Quaker boarding school in the town of
Kendal, 40 miles from his home. All the while, he continued teaching himself science, mathematics,
Latin, Greek and French. By the time he was 19, he had become the school s principal, continuing in
this role until he was 26 years old.
It seems that the school s students liked Dalton teaching them, one of them recalling:
The boys (were) all glad to be taught by John Dalton, because he had a gentler disposition; and
besides his mind was so occupied with mathematics, that their faults escaped his notice.

The Influence Of Hadrian s Unjust Society
Have you ever envisioned something powerful, but to become magnificent there needed to be a
change from within? Hadrian looked at Rome this same way. Being born into a world of hatred and

in society, Rome was in need of a level headed ruler with a solid military and educated background.
Hadrian s devotion for the people and orderliness of the Roman Empire was the main drive towards
his ambitions and changes. Hadrian s military and educated background encouraged him to establish

way of learning about the issues of the land and the people, never being the typical emperor whom sat

between the people of Rome and the issues they experienced, Hadrian was able to learn firsthand and
knew beyond a doubt what needed changes the most. Rome was an unjust society for many decades,
however Hadrian saw things differently. Hadrian had a credible military background before assuming

Contemporary network management systems mainly deal with avoiding network congestion and
frequent service disruptions by effectively handling the traffic dynamics. IP base environments still
don t have efficient system to utilize all the resources and efficient solution for dynamic traffic and
network conditions. So in this article we introduce a efficient traffic engineering and managing
mechanism called AMPLE. This system mainly consists of two components: Link Weight
Optimization (OLWO) and Adaptive Traffic Control (ATC). Link Weight Optimization (OLWO)
component generates maximum IGP path diversity using physical network topology as a input.
OLWO setting of link weights are optimized for maximum path diversity. The next component ATC
comes into the picture based on these diverse paths. ATC can efficiently manage the splitting ratios
across individual routing topologies. ATC does this by monitoring the network dynamics in a short
interval of time. We evaluated the proposed system using real network topologies and found that the
system can effectively handle the unprepared traffic dynamics and it can be used to achieve better

Porter s 5 Forces Analysis Essay
PORTER S 5 FORCES ANALYSIS: Overall, we found this to be an unattractive industry due to the
following factors:
Rivalry: The airline industry is filled with over 5000 airlines worldwide creating a considerable
amount of competition. Initially, airlines would compete based on price, however, airlines such as the
United Arab Emirates have begun to add unique amenities such as showers and Wifi to attract the
wealthy, luxury seeking client. Moreover, despite Delta being one of the major airlines, there are over
100 airlines in the United States adding to the competitive market and allowing more choice for
customers. These factors ultimately make the airline industry unattractive, both currently and in the
future, as it is difficult to continue adding value that does not stem from price reductions.
Threat of New Entrants: Entering the airline industry has high capital requirements and any new
airline would need to develop customer trust before becoming profitable. Therefore, the threat from
start up airlines is relatively low. However, private jet companies, as well as low cost carriers, are
entering the market segment of Delta which contributes to this being an overall unattractive industry.
As these new competitors solidify their position in Delta s market segment, this industry will remain
unappealing.
Bargaining Power of Consumers: With thousands of airlines worldwide, consumers have the option of
choosing any airline based on price and comfort. Generally, there is little

Monica Cruz Research Papers
Monica Cruz looks so much like her older sister, Penelope Cruz, that she s freaking people out.
Recently, Monica hit the beach in a skimpy bikini and showcased her beach body and new ink on her

Monica Cruz, at a glance, is the spitting image of her celebrity actress sister. As Daily Mail wrote, one
major difference in the twin sisters is Monica s charming new tattoo.
Monica s striking resemblance to Penelope, 43, caught the eyes of movie producers. The 40 year old

and Trueba partnered again for a follow up to the 1998 The Girl of Your Dreams film.
The New York Times applauded the director for skillfully capturing the spirit of the era. As for Ms.

is not above telling him off in the most delightfully coarse of terms, the Times reported.

To What Extent Did Lords Control The Lives Of Peasants
Lords controlled the lives of peasants in several different ways throughout the middle ages. The
peasants could be manipulated by fear, the justice system, and finances. With these methods, the lord
could exercise complete control over the commoners of his fief.
One technique used by lords to control serfs was efficient use of the justice system. During the middle
ages, the lord had political authority in society. Because of this he was able to use the justice system to
his advantage, which included the right to try peasants in court for breaking the manor s rules. The
lord had the power to punish the troublemaker as he saw fit, with fines or imprisonment. An account
that illustrates the lord s power to try and convict the serfs is, From the whole township of Little
Ogbourne, except seven, for not coming to wash the lord s sheep, 6s. 8d. . In this account, the peasants
didn t obey the lord, and were therefore punished by him as he saw fit. In this case they were fined six
shillings, and eight pence for their trespasses against the lord. ... Show more content on

One of the main features of the manorial system was that serfs were bound to a certain manor, and
required to work that land for the lord. The serfs were tied to the land because of their debts or their
ancestors debts to the lord. For the lord to keep his power and comfortable way of life, he had to keep
the serfs bound to his land. This meant that he must keep them in debt, which led to many fees and
taxes. An example of one of these taxes is, And after the death of any one of the aforesaid villeins, the
lord shall have as a heriot his best animal... . This example shows the extent that the lord went to to
keep the serfs in debt, so that he could maintain control over the

Summary Of The Fan-Celebrity Relationship In Johnny Cash
5.1 Introduction
In the preceding quotation, Patsy draws our attention to the fan celebrity relationship, in this instance,
with Johnny Cash. Although several fans in my sample share her sentiment that Cash is similar to a
member of their family Patsy places him in even higher esteem than do other fans. I isolate this
example in the introduction to this chapter because of its mention that Johnny Cash, for Patsy, is not a
god, but, as she says, he s pretty much the next thing to it. Fandom as religion literature maintains a
tendency to bridge the gap between Patsy and God, by referring to the celebrity as a mediator or
redeemer figure, in some cases, literally, and in others it is a metaphorical rendering. It is accurate to
write the celebrity performs certain mediation for the fan; celebrities, through their image, mediate
fans hopes and desires, but also more mundane ways fans interpret their world, such as the examples
illustrated in Chapter 4. For Fandom as religion scholars, however, celebrities such as Elvis Presley
and Cliff Richards mediate more sacred, rather than quotidian, concerns. In Fandom as religion
literature, the sacred is set apart and protected from everyday banality, and through universe
maintenance, such as the shrine building described by Doss in the chapter Saint Elvis, places the
celebrity on a sacred pedestal. Other than such connotation, the celebrity as sacred figure is a poorly
defined entity in Fandom as Religion literature (see Doss 1999;

Imagery in Macbeth by William Shakespeare
Imagery in Macbeth William Shakespeare use of imagery creates a picture in the mind of his
audiences that tells a thousand words. In most of his literary work, he shows the importance of
imagery, and how authors can manipulate a reader s feelings towards a character. In Macbeth, one of
Shakespeare s greatest plays, he shows his very skillfully uses imagery. Macbeth is one of the great
tragedy themed plays by William Shakespeare. It s about three witches that decide to manipulate a
Scottish general called Macbeth when he returns from a war. The Scottish king, Duncan, honors
Macbeth with the title Thane of Cawdor for his heroic. Macbeth and his friend Banquo meet the
witches. They predict that he will one day become king. So he decides that he will murder King
Duncan. Macbeth s wife agrees to his plan, and so his ambition builds. In The play Macbeth written
by William Shakespeare, his use of imagery is display through symbolism of light and darkness,
Macbeth ill fitting garments and the images of blood. In many of Shakespeare s works, readers are
introduced to the idea of light and dark. Often these two are symbols of good and evil. Shakespeare
use of the theme light vs. darkness is used to show a conflict between two opposing sides. To begin
Darkness shows up more throughout the play. An example of this is the witches that cause chaos and

Bring Your Own Device ( Byod )
Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is referred to it by many names: bring your own danger, bring your

commonplace in all sectors across the world. What used to be unthinkable, using one s own personal
mobile device or smartphone for work is now emerging as one of the biggest technology trends of this
decade. The idea of using a personal device at work developed when many executives got their first
Blackberries and iPhones back in the mid 2000 s and wanted access to corporate resources from these
devices such as email and the corporate intranet. Since then, BYOD has transitioned from a trend to a

The issue is two fold, one being that IT departments have lost the ability to fully manage devices that
connect to the company s network, but also employees are now demanding that they have the ability
to conduct company business and have access to extremely secure company resources from multiple
personal devices. Obviously this hasn t gone over very well from the IT perspective. Initially IT
departments were very resistant to change taking into consideration the huge security risk allowing
these devices onto the network presents, however more and more departments are beginning to adopt
these new practices, but at the same time are still very hesitant because they remained very concerned
about the inherent risks of permitting personal devices to access and store sensitive corporate data.
The timeline outlined below gives an excellent graphical representation of where BYOD started in the
early 200 s and where it is and going now that it s in its third wave and really finding its way as a

Identity in a Color Conscious Society in Invisible Man
Critics generally agree that Ralph Ellison s award winning novel, Invisible Man, is a work of genius,
broad in its appeal and universal in its meaning. Its various themes have been stated as: the geography
of hell . . . the real brotherhood of man (Morris 5), the emergence of Negro personality from the fixed
boundaries of southern life (Bone 46), and the search for human and national identity (Major 17). Rich
in symbolism and cleverly interwoven, Invisible Man s linear plot structure, told from the first person,
limited point of view, and framed by the Everyman protagonist from his subterranean home, follows

Critic Todd Libber points out that invisibility results from a perception each society holds to be true.
What does not fit into that idea of reality is therefore assigned to chaos and is invisible (90).
The rising action takes root at the time when, on his death bed, the narrator s grandfather reveals to the
family that the life of a black person living in a foreign white America has always been and still is a
life of war and opposition, and to keep up the fight. This puzzles the young impressionable narrator,
for his grandfather has been the meekest of men who, as is further revealed, believes himself to have
been a traitor and a spy all these years, and that his meekness has, in actuality, been a dangerous
activity. The tactics of agree em to death and undermine em with grins (15,16) are the tools that enable
the Negro to survive, in essence agreeing to invisibility, until blindness strikes down white society
(Margolies 135). Thus, Grandfather s words establish and foreshadow the cultural beliefs, such as
racism and bigotry that the young narrator will encounter in a prejudicial society as he navigates his
way through the social mine fields of America.
Further, the surreal circus like atmosphere that envelopes race relations in our country is no laughing
matter. Indeed, as the narrator tucks away enough experiences for a gradual dawning to unfold

Are Monopolies Necessarily Less Efficient Than Perfect...
This essay will look at efficiency between both a monopoly and a perfect competition, and whether a
monopoly is necessarily less efficient than perfect competition. Using diagrams and equations
reflecting the optimal choice of output, marginal revenue and marginal cost for monopolies, I will
explain how efficiency is affected by low levels of production. At the same time monopolies can
increase efficiency due to their ability in price discrimination, they price people differently and
therefore people pay what they truly believe the good is worth. There needs to be a clear description of
the differences between monopoly and perfect competition as well as efficiency; an analysis of
deadweight loss and natural monopoly is also important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Snyder and Nicholson describe Pareto efficient allocation as an allocation of resources, where it is not
possible through further reallocations to make one person better off without making someone else
worse off (Snyder and Nicholson, 2005, p.467). Varian further explains that a competitive industry
operates where price equals marginal cost, while a monopolised industry operates where price is
greater than marginal cost; therefore a higher price creates a lower output (Varian, 1996, p.411 412).
[pic]
From the diagram above we can see that if we get the firm to behave as a competitor and take the
market price as being set exogenously. Then we would have (Pc, Yc) for competitive price and output.
If the firm recognised its influence on the market price and chose its level of output so as to maximise
profits, we would see monopoly price and output (Pm, Ym). Since P(y) is greater than MC(y) for all
the output levels between Ym and Yc, there is a whole range of output where people are willing to pay
more for a unit of output than it costs to produce it. Clearly there is potential for Pareto improvement
(Varian, 1996, p.412 413).
A measure of efficiency can be produced by analysing the total surplus for a given market; this is seen
by subtracting the total cost from gross consumption benefits. The higher the level of total surplus the
more efficient production

The Character Analysis Of Iago Of Othello
At first glance, Iago of Othello can appear to have little motivation for his destructive tendencies;
however, when viewed through the lens of antisocial personality disorder, his incentive takes on a
twisted internal logic. His all consuming desire for revenge is not necessarily because of any outside
influence by Othello himself, but rather the fact that Othello disrupts Iago s conception of himself and
is a pawn whom he can manipulate for pleasure. His arrogance and entitlement are also classic
symptoms of antisocial personality disorder, as is his superficial charm, which allows him to enlist the
assistance of Roderigo in his plot to destroy Othello s marriage.

For example, act 1 scene 1 depicts him and Roderigo discussing Othello s impending marriage.
During this scene, Roderigo mentions that Iago hast had [his] purse/ As if the strings were thine (1.1.2

whether because of an unreliable source of income or reckless spending (Personality and Personality
Disorders, 88). In either case, from the first scene of the play it is clear that he is leeching off of
Roderigo for personal gain. His disorder appears to manifest itself differently depending on the person
with whom he is interacting, as shown when he speaks to Emelia and his charming, relatively eloquent
exterior melts away into an aggressive, rude figure. This behavioral pattern indicates that Iago is a
fundamentally antisocial person, not reacting to a specific negative situation.
Iago reveals a good deal about the inner workings of his mind when he states that But for [his] sport
and profit. [He] hate[s] the Moor (1.3.386). He relates this to the alleged adultery between his wife
and Othello, but when viewed through the lens of antisocial personality disorder, it becomes literally
true. According to the DSM, such individuals are frequently motivated by pleasure seeking. The
reasons which Iago gives for his hatred of Othello do not stand up to scrutiny when his hostile

Personality: This quote shows Santiago s determination to marry the merchant s daughter since he

Conflict/s: I think that this contributes to his conflicts because his love for her will make him reluctant

One afternoon, on a visit to his family, he had summoned up the courage to tell his father that he didn t

Personality: This quote tells me Santiago is stubborn. Stubborn because he refuses to follow his father

Conflict/s: Because of his nature, he went against his dad s wishes.

midnight sky. This is what I picture when I think about camping until I interview Ryan Oiler about it.
Ryan Oiler grandparents introduce him to camping when he was just two years old. Ryan (now 20) has
camped out at the Pocono s, Valley Forge, and even the senator s baseball field when he was in the
Boy scouts. Ryan stated he cannot imagine life without camping. With a big smile as he first started
the then it quickly want away as he finished the sentence, life without camping . Preparing for
camping trips is not like packing for a weekend to your grand mom s house. When packing your tent
make sure you spray it with waterproofing spay so it does not get wet from the morning dew or worst
rain. As you pack your clothes keep in mind that the weather during the day and night can change
drastically. The weather can be 90 degrees during the day and drop to the 70 s at night depending on
the camp site. The food surprising just doesn t consist of chocolate bars, marshmallows, and graham
crackers. Some items can be pack are bacon, eggs, and bananas. Depending if you have a cooler and a

Comparing The American Dream In The Great Gatsby And Black...
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and Black Boy by Richard Wright both show the theme of the
American Dream throughout the books. The American dream is the possibility of making a good life
for yourself, the idea of rags to riches was the most popular concept of getting a better life. The
American dream can both be found in the concepts of character decisions and conflict.
The American Dream of getting rich was a goal that every immigrant had coming to the United States,
but it was hard to find a way to obtain that amount of money. Gatsby tried to get rich from the start of
his life. Gatsby s dad showed Nick Gatsby s plan to get rich in his childhood This is a book he had
when he was a boy. It just shows you (Fitzgerald 173). Gatsby ... Show more content on

His first problem he recognized in his life was his hunger that he had growing up. His hunger could be
taken literally and figuratively throughout the book. He realized his hunger growing up when he asked
his mother when he going to get food due to the lack of his father s support, But it had never occurred
to me that his absence would mean that there would be no food (Wright 15). His father left his family
when he was growing up, it was the only source of income for his family. When he left, the family
struggled even more trying to survive. This drove the idea into Richard that money was a key
necessity to live a decent

Behavior Modification Essay
Behavior modification is happening more frequently than not in today s society. It enforces and
recognizes good behavior in many different circumstances, whether it is used on prison inmates which
good behavior is rewarded with incentives, giving your animal a treat for doing a trick or if it is a
golden star for a child s good work done. The famous works of B.F Skinner is heavily involved with
behavior modification and the idea that you can condition a human being to have favorable behavioral
traits. The carrot and the stick analogy used regarding reward and punishment. Modifying behavior
can be a beneficial tool to changing how one acts and thinks, but there will always be an opposing
view point that raises controversy if it is ok to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Skinners experiments are said to be dated, but the information that was found within these
experiments are still valid in today s psychological practice. The claims and experiments that Skinner
founded are still being taught in today s psychology classes. A claim from the book Beyond Freedom
and Dignity by Skinner (1971) himself says In short, we need to make vast changes in human
behavior, and we cannot make them with the help of nothing, (4) and leads to say that when human
behavior begins, technology stops, and that we must carry on, as we have in the past, with what we
have learned from personal experience or from those collections of personal experiences called
history... (Skinner,1971, p.6.). With behavior modification we need to take a psychological approach
as Skinner had mentioned in his book that when human behavior begins, technology ends. The brain
responds to stimulus and if the brain responds to reward, then it would turn into a learned behavior. He
also believed that the best way to look at and understand behavior was to look at the causes of an
action and the consequence that follows. Twenty five hundred years ago a man or a woman might
have understood themselves more than anything else than they may have known. Now in today s
society and with

The Period between 1820 and 1840 in the United States
The period between 1820 and 1840 was a highly changing period for politics in the United States. The
passing of the Federalist Party ended the two party system that also included the Democratic
Republicans. The Era of Good Feelings was ushered in and campaigns and elections hereon out were
changed drastically. Campaigns, running mates, and an increase in suffrage especially transformed the
elections in 1824, 1828, 1832, 1836, and 1840.
The period between 1816 and 1824 is commonly and wrongly labeled the Era of Good Feelings
because of the single party politics that took place in the United States. The Democratic Republicans,
led by James Monroe, were the only political party at the time. There was far less voter tension
because there was only one party running. However, Martin Van Buren (Document C) was against the
single party politics and argued that having two parties competing against each other would be
beneficial and desirable. He writes to Thomas Ritchie that the revival of old party distinctions would
be highly salutary and beneficial to the country. Van Buren believed that it would unite the Southern
planters with the Republicans of the North. In 1824 however, John Quincy Adams, and Henry Clay
teamed up to defeat the man who had garnered the most votes by any individual. The plan worked and
the two won the presidency. It was dubbed as the Corrupt Bargain because the two had stolen the
presidency from Jackson.

Transformation in Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong Essay
Transformation in Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong
In Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong, Tim O Brien gives a dynamic example of how even the deep
roots of ones culture can be modified. The focus is on the young lady, whose boyfriend manages to
have her shipped over to Vietnam from the U.S. She is then thrown into a completely foreign culture
that thousands of American GI s were experiencing. This change in culture affected the strongest and
most skilled of America s ground troops. The affects on a civilian are almost unfathomable.
The sweetheart of the story is a young, American girl whose description identifies her as the
stereotypical girl of the late 60 s early 70 s. A tall, big boned blonde,/long legs and blue eyes and a ...

No cosmetics, no fingernail filing. She stopped wearing jewelry, cut her hair short and wrapped it in a
dark green bandana. Hygiene was a matter of small consequence. (98). The bush had done to her what
it had done to so many American soldiers. She had no idea how to survive in the conditions that she
had taken on, but she learned. She learned how to disassemble an M 16, how the various parts
worked,/ how to use the weapon/ she had a real knack for it./ In many ways she remained naïve and
immature, still a kid, but Cleveland Heights now seemed very far away. (98). These changes were
dramatic, but not extreme or drastic. However, the next few changes would be too much for Mark to
handle.
Twice/ she came in late at night. Very late. And then finally she did not come in at all. (99). Mark
became worried that she might be sleeping with someone else. He woke up Rat and him go check out
the barracks to see if Mary Anne was with any of the guys. All accounted for. No extras. (101). Then
they got the idea that she was with the Greenies and she was, in a way. Mary Anne was out on
Ambush with the Green Beret s. Poor Mark Fossie tried to talk some sense into her, but it was to no
avail. Before long Mary Anne was gone again, this time there would be no reckoning with her. She
had made her decision to be where she felt she belonged. When Mark finally realized this, he was hit
with an emotional artillery shell that could have taken

Crime In The 19th Century
Crime and punishment in the 19thcentury was a time of rising crime and increasing misery. As people
packed into the slums of the ever expanding cities jobs became scarce and people struggled. In rural
areas, changes to agricultural practices left many laborers without enoughwork to support their
families. In order for many of the poor to feed their families, they turned to crime. In the later 19th
century it was not just crime that was increasing but also poverty. The industrial revolution made
many people rich, but for many poor familiesin both rural and urban areas life was the worst it had
been for a long time. As people moved into the towns and cities, the crime rate increased rapidly.

No I Do Not Want To Pet Your Dog Analysis
According to Farhad Manjoo in his article, No, I Do Not Want to Pet Your Dog, dogs have gained too
much freedom in public places, and it is time to limit the amount of freedom in order to restrain their
interaction with those who do not like them. He explains, how these dogs are everywhere without any
restrictions anymore, running around bothering people jumping up beside them at the park, while they
are trying to relax and read a book . In Addition to, the author explains that because of dogs
dominating places like the office and the gym, people feel forced to pretend they like them
disregarding the health hazards they could conceivably pose.

It was defined by Irish aristocracy, before going out of fashion in the 16th century and almost becoming obsolete in the 19th century. Plehov, Mel. The Pocket Encyclopaedia of Ireland (Dublin 12: M.H. Gill Co, 2012), Page 120. The evolution of the harp is significant because the first instrument associated with harping in the Gaelic world was known as a Cruit derived from the related Welsh instrument the crwth . • 8. Similarities In Narratives In Romantic Operas To discover similarities in narratives in Romantic operas, I defer to Ernest Newman and George Upton, who are professional music analysts. Newman has written multiple publications on the great operas of Don Giovanni, Figaro, Turandot, and others. In his book The Wagner Operas, he analyzes nine of Wagner s operas (Mastersingers of Nuremburg, The Valkyrie, Seigfired and Parsifial among others). A common theme in many of Wagner s operas is that they involve the supernatural, and this is in agreement with the immense drama of the Romantic era operas. For example, in The Flying Dutchman, a phantom ship appears and a ghostly Dutchman (as the title suggests) requests the marriage of a sailor s daughter to redeem himself (Newman, 1963). Upton, has compiled plots and music of modern operas into a book published in 1926 as an addendum to his Standard Handbooks on Music. One of the operas he summarizes is that of Gioacchino Rossini s William Tell. The death of a herdsman s daughter at the hands of a tyrant s follower results in the request to Tell to protect the herdsman. In a square, Tell refuses so succumb to the tyrant s wishes and is jailed. The herdsman rounds up a rescue squad to help him and succeeds. This is a divergence from the Wagnerian obsession with the supernatural, but is still an excellent example of Romantic opera (Upton, 1926). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 10. Summary Of Characters In The Golden Compass Alex de Castro Three years ago, my family adopted a dog. I ended up being the one who was most reluctant toward the idea and still was even after he had entered our family. I was the one who thought of all the negatives of we don t need a dog. For the first few weeks he was in the house, I did not like him. He knew it too. Over time, I started to relate and bond with this dog and saw how he was different, he did not act like a normal dog of his breed, he was different from the rest. I find the same thing with myself in my family, not like the others most of the time, but both of us are included and loved. Now, this dog and I are closer than any of my other family members are with him. In the novel The Golden Compass, the author Philip Pullman develops a similar type of relationship for each of his characters called daemons. These companions reflect a certain person s identity, soul, and changes in feeling through their different forms, usually as animals. I am being considered for Mr. Pullman s next novel and he has asked me to develop daemons of my own for the next book in his series. After a few days of thinking I have decided on three animals that would be a great representation of me in daemon form, an owl, a lemur, and a butterfly. • 12. Nt1310 Unit 1 Data Storage System Equation ref{e.cost2} depends on distribution of the data as well. Let $T_{cap}$ be the total capacity of disk in a node and $T_{used}$ be the total used space. Therefore the ideal storage on each volume/disk should be $I_{storage} = T_{cap} / T_{used}$. The volume of data density is difference between ideal storage and current DFS used ratio, in other words volume data density for one node is $DD_{volume} = I_{storage} dfsUsedRatio$, where $DD_{volume}$ is volume of data density. A positive value of $DD_{volume}$ indicates that disk is under utilized and a negative indicates that disk is over utilized. Now the we can calculate data distribution around the data center. This is done by computing nodes with maximum skew from $I_{storage}$ values, for that we sum all the absolute values of $DD_{volume}$. His trial was held roughly three months later, where Johnson was then convicted of the crime, sentenced to one year in prison, and forced to pay a fine (Goldstein 37). After a series of appeal attempts, the decision of Johnson s case was finally reviewed by the Texas Court of Appeals in 1988 and was then overturned. The court of appeals said that Johnson s actions were protected by his 1st amendment right to freedom of speech. Skemp and Weinberg brought Johnson s case before the appeals court on September 26th where they continued to argue that Johnson s prosecution was in violation of the First Amendment and that since his actions were symbolic and committed during a political protest that it was acceptable (Goldstein 38). The attorneys also stated the Johnson s flag burning met the test of expression set out by the O Brien test in Supreme Court case United States v. O Brien of 1967. The test set a number of guidelines that should be used to decide whether a law that prohibits free speech violates the First Amendment. The test said that the law in question must be: within the constitutional power of the government to enact, further an important or substantial government interest and that interest must be unrelated to the suppression of speech and prohibit no more speech than is essential to further the said interest (Goldstein 25). John D. Nation responded for Texas saying that Johnson created and explosive situation by burning the flag, with people angry and yelling, and the demonstration could have easily led to a physical reaction from those that were nearby and felt offended or opposed. Nation also said there was a need to preserve our country s flag as a symbol of national unity and strength. Additionally he argued that burning the flag harmed a person s sense of national identity and that people assumingly link that with what is represented by the flag and so destroying it could put Johnson in danger (Goldstein 52). Katniss, the protagonist played by Jennifer Lawrence, is forced to go outside of her comfort zone when she has to make friends and train to kill people in order to win the Games and come home to her sister, Primrose, who is played by Willow Shields. The Hunger Games was directed by Gary Ross and was released on March 23rd, 2012. The year that this movie was made, a Canadian filmmaker, named James Cameron, became the first person to visit Challenger Deep, the US President Barack Obama secured Democratic presidential nomination, and The Avengers premiered in Los Angeles. • 20. Forms Of Oppressionation Of The Holocaust Many when discussing the events of genocide often analyze the systems of oppression used against the targeted groups. These forms of oppression are often systemic and multilateral. When examining the Holocaust, one of history s, and humanity s, most infamous and darkest moments, we see the varying forms of oppression in cases such as political censorship in the form of imprisonment of those who leaned left, economic persecution when their means and standard of living was forcibly taken from them such as their businesses, houses, and jobs, as well as the forced relocation and deportation to the ghettos and finally the concentration camps. Many however, do not see the effects of oppression post genocide, as many could argue that silencing different interpretations and mediums that memorializing genocide can actually be forms of oppression towards survivors, as their stories and expression are not utilized when creating the holistic memory of the Holocaust. The idea of an official narrative of the Holocaust and its memorialization is rooted more closely in its recall of emotion than in establishing factual and divergent interpretations of experiences, this constructive forgetting, (Christie, 2) meaning that creating a singular memory narrative of pain and suffering is more pressing than in attempting to portray divergent and intersectional experiences during the genocide. While this constrictive forgetting can be very successful in spreading awareness of the genocide, it can also sometimes ostracize works of memorialization by actual survivors representation of every victim and survivor s narrative, meaning their own purpose and experience of the Holocaust can sometimes be sacrificed for the purpose of invoking greater emotion in order to spread the national consciousness of the gross violations Case in point, both works examined, Maus: A Survivor s Tale: My Father Bleeds History by Art Spiegelman and film Life is Beautiful by Roberto Benigni offer different interpretations that diverge from the central narrative voice used when memorializing genocide, and as such may be looked down upon. Moreover, despite Delta being one of the major airlines, there are over 100 airlines in the United States adding to the competitive market and allowing more choice for customers. These factors ultimately make the airline industry unattractive, both currently and in the future, as it is difficult to continue adding value that does not stem from price reductions. Threat of New Entrants: Entering the airline industry has high capital requirements and any new airline would need to develop customer trust before becoming profitable. Therefore, the threat from start up airlines is relatively low. However, private jet companies, as well as low cost carriers, are entering the market segment of Delta which contributes to this being an overall unattractive industry. The peasants could be manipulated by fear, the justice system, and finances. With these methods, the lord could exercise complete control over the commoners of his fief. The lord had the power to punish the troublemaker as he saw fit, with fines or imprisonment. Although several fans in my sample share her sentiment that Cash is similar to a member of their family Patsy places him in even higher esteem than do other fans. I isolate this example in the introduction to this chapter because of its mention that Johnny Cash, for Patsy, is not a god, but, as she says, he s pretty much the next thing to it. Fandom as religion literature maintains a tendency to bridge the gap between Patsy and God, by referring to the celebrity as a mediator or redeemer figure, in some cases, literally, and in others it is a metaphorical rendering. It is accurate to write the celebrity performs certain mediation for the fan; celebrities, through their image, mediate fans hopes and desires, but also more mundane ways fans interpret their world, such as the examples illustrated in Chapter 4. For Fandom as religion scholars, however, celebrities such as Elvis Presley and Cliff Richards mediate more sacred, rather than quotidian, concerns. In Fandom as religion literature, the sacred is set apart and protected from everyday banality, and through universe maintenance, such as the shrine building described by Doss in the chapter Saint Elvis, places the celebrity on a sacred pedestal. The Scottish king, Duncan, honors Macbeth with the title Thane of Cawdor for his heroic. Macbeth and his friend Banquo meet the witches. They predict that he will one day become king. So he decides that he will murder King Duncan. Macbeth s wife agrees to his plan, and so his ambition builds. In The play Macbeth written by William Shakespeare, his use of imagery is display through symbolism of light and darkness, Macbeth ill fitting garments and the images of blood. In many of Shakespeare s works, readers are introduced to the idea of light and dark. Often these two are symbols of good and evil. Shakespeare use of the theme light vs. darkness is used to show a conflict between two opposing sides. To begin Darkness shows up more throughout the play. An example of this is the witches that cause chaos and confusion to other characters. As critic Spurgeon states the witches are secret, black and midnight hags (Spurgeon 112). The witches ... Bring Your Own Device ( Byod ) Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is referred to it by many names: bring your own danger, bring your own disaster, bring your own detonator, but whatever the name, it is becoming more and more commonplace in all sectors across the world. What used to be unthinkable, using one s own personal mobile device or smartphone for work is now emerging as one of the biggest technology trends of this decade. The idea of using a personal device at work developed when many executives got their first Blackberries and iPhones back in the mid 2000 s and wanted access to corporate resources from these devices such as email and the corporate intranet. Obviously this hasn t gone over very well from the IT perspective. Initially IT departments were very resistant to change taking into consideration the huge security risk allowing these devices onto the network presents, however more and more departments are beginning to adopt these new practices, but at the same time are still very hesitant because they remained very concerned about the inherent risks of permitting personal devices to access and store sensitive corporate data. Identity in a Color Conscious Society in Invisible Man Critics generally agree that Ralph Ellison s award winning novel, Invisible Man, is a work of genius, broad in its appeal and universal in its meaning. Its various themes have been stated as: the geography of hell . . . the real brotherhood of man (Morris 5), the emergence of Negro personality from the fixed boundaries of southern life (Bone 46), and the search for human and national identity (Major 17). Rich in symbolism and cleverly interwoven, Invisible Man s linear plot structure, told from the first person, limited point of view, and framed by the Everyman protagonist from his subterranean home, follows the narrator in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Critic Todd Libber points out that invisibility results from a perception each society holds to be true. What does not fit into that idea of reality is therefore assigned to chaos and is invisible (90). The rising action takes root at the time when, on his death bed, the narrator s grandfather reveals to the family that the life of a black person living in a foreign white America has always been and still is a life of war and opposition, and to keep up the fight. This puzzles the young impressionable narrator, for his grandfather has been the meekest of men who, as is further revealed, believes himself to have been a traitor and a spy all these years, and that his meekness has, in actuality, been a dangerous activity. The tactics of agree em to death and undermine em with grins (15,16) are the tools that enable the Negro to survive, in essence agreeing to invisibility, until blindness strikes down white society (Margolies 135). Thus, Grandfather s words establish and foreshadow the cultural beliefs, such as racism and bigotry that the young narrator will encounter in a prejudicial society as he navigates his way through the social mine fields of America. Further, the surreal circus like atmosphere that envelopes race relations in our country is no laughing matter. • 35. Are Monopolies Necessarily Less Efficient Than Perfect... This essay will look at efficiency between both a monopoly and a perfect competition, and whether a monopoly is necessarily less efficient than perfect competition. Using diagrams and equations reflecting the optimal choice of output, marginal revenue and marginal cost for monopolies, I will explain how efficiency is affected by low levels of production. At the same time monopolies can increase efficiency due to their ability in price discrimination, they price people differently and therefore people pay what they truly believe the good is worth. There needs to be a clear description of the differences between monopoly and perfect competition as well as efficiency; an analysis of deadweight loss and natural monopoly is also important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Snyder and Nicholson describe Pareto efficient allocation as an allocation of resources, where it is not possible through further reallocations to make one person better off without making someone else worse off (Snyder and Nicholson, 2005, p.467). Varian further explains that a competitive industry operates where price equals marginal cost, while a monopolised industry operates where price is greater than marginal cost; therefore a higher price creates a lower output (Varian, 1996, p.411 412). [pic] From the diagram above we can see that if we get the firm to behave as a competitor and take the market price as being set exogenously. Then we would have (Pc, Yc) for competitive price and output. If the firm recognised its influence on the market price and chose its level of output so as to maximise profits, we would see monopoly price and output (Pm, Ym). Since P(y) is greater than MC(y) for all the output levels between Ym and Yc, there is a whole range of output where people are willing to pay more for a unit of output than it costs to produce it. Clearly there is potential for Pareto improvement (Varian, 1996, p.412 413). A measure of efficiency can be produced by analysing the total surplus for a given market; this is seen by subtracting the total cost from gross consumption benefits. The Character Analysis Of Iago Of Othello At first glance, Iago of Othello can appear to have little motivation for his destructive tendencies; however, when viewed through the lens of antisocial personality disorder, his incentive takes on a twisted internal logic. His all consuming desire for revenge is not necessarily because of any outside influence by Othello himself, but rather the fact that Othello disrupts Iago s conception of himself and is a pawn whom he can manipulate for pleasure. His arrogance and entitlement are also classic symptoms of antisocial personality disorder, as is his superficial charm, which allows him to enlist the assistance of Roderigo in his plot to destroy Othello s marriage. For example, act 1 scene 1 depicts him and Roderigo discussing Othello s impending marriage. During this scene, Roderigo mentions that Iago hast had [his] purse/ As if the strings were thine (1.1.2 3). A common symptom of antisocial personality disorder is the inability to handle money responsibly, whether because of an unreliable source of income or reckless spending (Personality and Personality Disorders, 88). In either case, from the first scene of the play it is clear that he is leeching off of Roderigo for personal gain. His disorder appears to manifest itself differently depending on the person with whom he is interacting, as shown when he speaks to Emelia and his charming, relatively eloquent exterior melts away into an aggressive, rude figure. This behavioral pattern indicates that Iago is a fundamentally antisocial person, not reacting to a specific negative situation. Iago reveals a good deal about the inner workings of his mind when he states that But for [his] sport and profit. [He] hate[s] the Moor (1.3.386). He relates this to the alleged adultery between his wife and Othello, but when viewed through the lens of antisocial personality disorder, it becomes literally true. The Era of Good Feelings was ushered in and campaigns and elections hereon out were changed drastically.
