Gilles De La Tourette Syndrome
Abstract: Tourette syndrome is a neuropsychiatric condition characterized by both motor and phonic
tics over a period of at least one year with the onset in childhood or adolescence. Apart from the tics,
most of the patients with Tourette syndrome have associated neuropsychiatric comorbidities consisting
of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, rage attacks, sleep issues,
depression, and migraine. Patients may also have physical complications directly from violent motor
tics which can rarely include cervical myelopathy, arterial dissection and stroke. The purpose of this
article is to review the associated neuropsychiatric comorbidities of Tourette syndrome with emphasis
on recent research. Key Words: Tourette syndrome (TS); Neuropsychiatric comorbidities; Attention
Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD); Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD); Neurologic
complication; Migraine. Introduction: Gilles de la Tourette Syndrome (TS) is a neuropsychiatric
condition characterized by both motor and phonic tics with the onset in childhood or adolescence.
First described by French physician Georges Gilles de la Tourette in 1885, it is considered to be as one
of the most common childhood movement disorders. As per the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of
Mental Disorders Fifth Edition s (DSM V), TS is diagnosed clinically by the presence of multiple
motor and one or more phonic tics, lasting at least one year with the onset prior to age 18 (1). TS is

I used to think of my body as an instrument, of pleasure, or a means of transportation, or an implement
for the accomplishment of my will. I could use it to run, push buttons, of one sort or another, make

Pinpoints of light well, sparkle, burst and shrivel within it, countless as stars. Every month there is a

The Government Effect On Protests Demonstrations Protests
The Government Effect On The Protests
Protests have numerous factors that affect the result of the protest and one major
element is the government. In the 1960 s some protests were brutal due to
discrimination; yet, the largest protest achieved to maintain a safe environment because
the government respected and allowed the protests. The March on Washington for Jobs
and Freedom in 1963 peacefully gathered approximately 250,000 citizens together to
protest the high level of black unemployment, minimal wages African Americans received
for jobs, poor job mobility, and continuous racial segregation. In contrast, The Gezi
Park Protests in Turkey, Taksim in 2013 got out of control due to the government response to
the initial 50 environmentalists who opposed to cutting the trees and building a shopping mall
instead. The government used police force brutally against the activists and as a result,
approximately 3.5 million protesters right to freely voice their dissatisfaction and use the
media was constrained. So, even though today, overall technology and cities have
improved excessively, Turkey is still facing an immense pressure and constraint from
the government during protests compare to the protests fifty years ago in Washington
D.C.
In every country, protecting its citizens rights is the government s fundamental duty
in order to maintain the peace and unity. But in Turkey, citizens rights were violated
because the government used its

Analysis Of Annabel Lee s A Kingdom By The Sea
The turn of the nineteenth century for the newly formed United States was a time of nervous
apprehension running alongside a giddy sense of adventure. The colonist had shirked the cloak of
Britain and was a fledgling country of their own, similar to a young adult trying to figure out their way
after leaving home. Nothing spoke of this like the Romantic writings in the early nineteenth century.
The works tended to have a lot of good vs. evil and oppressor vs. oppressed. They tended to be
optimistic, very democratic in their views, anti slavery, some even dipped into the early women s
rights movement. The romantics were rebels with a cause, nonconforming individuals that think and
stay true to how they see themselves. Along with the lofty language, the authors tended to write their
prose they also managed to keep the details of their writings very generic. Such as Edgar Allen Poe,
with his location description in Annabel Lee: In a kingdom by the sea. (Poe) The Romantic author also
liked being a master of his or her fate.
The Realist was different from the Romantic in as many areas. The Realist time was after the Civil
War, many of them lived through the carnage, and it affected their views of life and the world. Realist
writings usually consisted of a distinct time and place, unlike the Romantics generalizations. Samuel
Clemens using the pen name Mark Twain had his novels set clearly in the Mississippi River delta
during a particular time in history, his childhood.

On Korea Essay
On Korea
Throughout most of its history, Korea has existed as one country with a rich culture and history. Then
in the 1940 s, Korea was controlled by Japan.
World War II broke out, and the Allies defeated the Axis powers. The country of
Korea was divided into two parts the north and the south. The north was occupied by communist
Russian forces and the south by American troops. The dividing line was the 38th parallel(see map). In
1950, a civil war began between the two Koreas, further separating them. Both countries have since
established totally different ways of life that include government, economics, and lifestyles. As a
result of all that has transpired and recent incidents, it would appear to be highly improbable ... Show

The many contrasting elements adopted by each of the two countries have existed since the
Korean War. Neither country has shown signs of changing its ways. The differences that divide the
two countries cannot be overstated.
South Korea is a very open society. South Korea contains many types of practiced religion. Buddhism
has the largest amount of followers. In South
Korea, education is used to teach the cultural heritage of the country and to promote democratic
institutions. Both education and religion are considered vital to the people. In government, the
controlling party is democratic. The leaders are elected by the people. The government guarantees
freedom of the press and religion with few limitations. South Korea s economy has been growing at an
incredible rate. The country s economic growth has increased by more than five percent in the last few
years.(InsouthKoreaBuisiness ) It is stepping forward into the age of technology by putting satellites
into space, building nuclear power plants, creating telecommunication systems, and building and
utilizing high speed railways.
North Korea is a closed society. North Korea is ruled by communism.

Proper Way To Display A Flag
How does your piece of art communicate, evoke, or inspire? What do you think the artist was trying to
say with his or her work?
Dread Scott definitely created a lot of controversy between people throughout the United States with
his artwork What is the Proper Way to Display a Flag. People started communicating and discussing
the artwork with one another. This definitely evoked a lot of people negatively. Americans were very
upset to see this art displayed in a public museum. People starting discussing whether or not it was
right to have the flag disrespected in this way. President Bush did not approve of the artwork at all
saying that it was disgraceful and made him worry about the idea of freedom of speech (Scott, n.d.).
This artwork inspired the government to outlaw displaying the flag of the United States on the floor or
ground. (Scott, n.d.).
Dread Scott wanted his artwork to be able to be understood by a broad group of people. I think the
author was trying to say that not everyone in the U.S. has to respect the flag by not stepping on it.
There are people in America that do not think that they have to follow the rule of not letting ... Show

Has it moved across geographic space? Who paid for it, bought it, developed it? Can it be sold?
This piece of art originally was displayed in the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (Scott, n.d.).
Shortly after it was displayed, the flag display was taken down because of the new law making it
illegal to place the flag on the floor or ground (Scott, n.d.). However, Judge Kenneth L. Gillis argued
that the new law about the flag not being able to touch the ground could not be used to prosecute
artists because of the freedom of speech from the first amendment (The Thomas Jefferson Center,
2005).
Dread Scott created this artwork so he was in charge of developing it. I was not able to find if it has
moved from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago or if it was bought or sold to

Jacqueline Woodson s The Other Side
After reading the book The Other Side a reader can analyze Jacqueline Woodson s use of tone,
symbolism, and audience. Symbolism is the use of symbols to represent ideas or qualities. Jacqueline
also uses tone in her story. Tone is the way the author expresses her/his attitude. Jacqueline also
catches the audience s attention. In this story The Other Side, catches the audience in a strong way.
She uses the children as the audience. The story catches your attention to get readers to see that they

Comparing The Theme Of Love In A Midsummer Night s Dream
To Be In Love With an Ass, Literally
Could you ever imagine yourself falling in love with an ass? No, not the jerkish guy down the street, a
literal ass. Can you imagine four days filled with declarations of love, hate, curses, cures, disgust, and
delight? An ultimatum so great it pits two people married for centuries against each other? Love is in
the air, and so is hate in Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream. Unfortunate circumstances fall
upon seven lovers in the woods one night, proving that love is more fickle than true.
Outside circumstances often play a role in love, but in the case of Titania and Bottom, an outside
circumstance brought them together completely. A flower hit by cupid s bow has the power to cause a
person to fall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The King and Queen seemingly have been married forever, and most likely have been fighting for
forever as well. Oberon and Titania are fairies, meaning they help bring balance to nature, but they
have been neglecting their duties because of their argument. Titiana vents, And never, since the middle
summer s spring, Met we on hill, in dale, forest, or mead, By paved fountain or rush brook, or in the
beached margent of the sea (2.1.82). While they argue and avoid each other the nature they are
supposed to be taking care of is beginning to show the neglect, And, through this distemperature, we
see The season alter: hoary headed frosts Fall in the fresh lap of the crimson rose, and on old Heim s
thin and icy crown an odorous chaplet of sweet summer buds is, as in mockery, set (2.1.108). The
reason the King and Queen are fighting is rather strange, Oberon wants a mortal boy whom Titania
has taken as her ward. Oberon gives no reason as to why he wants the boy so bad, he probably just
wants him because Tatiana loves him so much. Titana befriended a mortal woman and spent hours
gossiping with her, laying on the sands by the shore, and when the mortal woman got pregnant and
died during childbirth, Titans made a promise to raise the child. Oberon was annoyed with Tatiana s
stubbornness and set out to make her pay by cursing her to fall in love with something humiliating,

Justice Antonin Scalia Case Analysis
I have chosen to write my research paper on the late Justice Antonin Scalia. I wanted to know more
about his legal philosophy of originalism and the legacy he left. I wanted to read on some of his
landmark case rulings. I focused on one to include in my research paper. My thesis statement is as
follows:
Justice Antonin Scalia made no apologies for his legal philosophy of originalism, despite opposition
from other justices and the public. Scalia believed that the United States Constitution should strictly
be interpreted in terms of what the founding fathers had meant for it when the Constitution was
written. Scalia s critics contended that the Constitution is a living document, therefore, it should allow
the courts to take into consideration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One case I learned more about is Roe v. Wade. By reading and understanding this cases and the
different opinions of the Justices, I would be able to better understand the case I chose for my term
paper. I had chosen the case, Planned Parenthood v. Casey and how Antonin Scalia brought his view
of originalism to this case. Furthermore, this lead me to read about Sandra Day O Connor, who
changed the standards to the abortion laws. I was able to read a variety of articles and publications on
Antonin Scalia and his childhood which helped me understand how his upbringing contributed to his
viewpoints in his career life. A helpful publication I found interesting was, The Constitution in the
Year 2000: Choices Ahead in Constitutional Interpretations. I was able to look for other policies from
the Government website, in Washington, D.C. Although not all of these sources are included in the
main content of my research paper, it gave me the insight, to understand the variables that contributed
to who Antonin Scalia was and the opinions he held and why they differed from other Justices. I
learned how Antonin Scalia was able to leave a lasting

How Reganomics Destroyed Middle Class America
How Reaganomics Destroyed the Middle Class Reaganomics are the economic policies that were set
and promoted in 1980s by the U.S. President Ronald Reagan. These policies are mainly connected to
trickle down economics. There are four pillars that are associated with the economic policy of Reagan
and they include: reduce government economic regulation, reduce growth of how much the
government spends, reduce the marginal tax rates such as capital gains tax and income tax and lastly
reduce the level of inflation by controlling money supply growth. These four policies were expected to
increase investment and savings, balance the U.S. budget, reduce inflation, increase the economic
growth rate, restore healthy financial markets and reduce ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The government decided to fund government organizations such as Environmental Protection Agency
instead of funding the social security (Barone 120). This means that the department was left without
funds hence there was no money that could be used to pay those who were working in the social
security majority of which were middle class people. This shows how the middle class people were
destroyed as a result of Reaganomics which forced the middle class people to pay more taxes. In the
end of his two terms as the president of the U.S., 5% of the population which comprise of the rich had
received double wealth and economic share of ownership while 95% of the population which
comprise of the middle class people and the poor had no progress when it comes to immersion of
wealth instead they had lost more of their wealth due to inflation and high tax rates (Barone 120).
Nevertheless, the social security meant to benefit the rich poor since they were the ones who owned
property. The middle class people did not obtain any form of social security thus were forced to
protect their own wealth.
Unregulated economy: the main reason why Reaganomics policy was implemented was to stimulate
economic growth. In the beginning, the policy managed to stimulate economic growth but this was as
a result of increased spending among the middle class people and not as a result of tax cuts.

The Super Bowl, America s most viewed telecast. But why do people watch the Super Bowl? Who are
these people watching the Super Bowl? And what makes the Super Bowl unique when compared to
other events being telecast on national television? Is it the because we enjoy watching professional
athletes collide with one another on a major stage for the entire world population to observe, or is it
how a major company such as Nike is willing to spend millions of dollars for an entertaining, thirty

college, and with music in the background and progressively becoming more intense, Tomlinson is on
that final stage, given the football by his teammate, running, and is tackled by Polamalu. A flashback
to their childhood is presented as the boys fall back on their beds laughing. We return to present day
with the referee blowing his whistle. Both players get up, and Nike s phrase Leave Nothing appears,
they congratulate one another, and run back to their specific team. Through the commercial s message

Aristotle Segregates
Aristotle segregates virtues into two categories and they are moral and intellectual. Aristotle believes
that moral virtues is a product of habits, while intellectual virtues come from learning or life
experience. He stated that since nothing...can form a habit contrary to its nature (Book II, 1), virtues
are only possible to form by habits. For intellectual virtues, it can only be perfected over a period of a
time, as well with experience. A more concrete point that will solidify this conclusion is that virtues
are first learnt, then it will be presented, and the everyday life experience of the virtue is in diversified
position and situations will lead a way for development. Aristotle as well goes in detail not just
defining virtues theoretically,

The Brown Wasps Essay
The Brown Wasps
In Loren Eiseley s Essay The Brown Wasps, Eiseley shows that humans and animals act in similar
ways. He says that humans and animals cling to the things they know very strongly. Sometimes they
even act as if nothing even changed. Humans and animals tend to want to return to things that they are
familiar to as they grow older. Loren Eiseley shows how humans and animals try to cling or recreate
an important or favorite place. This essay is about memory, home, places in time. Loren Eiseley does a
great job describing the place that he is talking about to make the reader visualize and make them feel
like they are there. Some examples are the old men, the brown wasps, the mice, the pigeons, the ...

Eiseley compares this to the brown wasp that wishes to die in the center of the hive. The men came
inside the train station to be around other people so that they did not die alone. Sometimes it is the
place that matters the most, the center of the hive for the brown wasp and the bench in the train station
for the old man. We cling to a time and place because without them man is lost, not only man but life.
(79).
Later Eiseley tells of a mouse that made a home in one of the flower pots in his living room. This was
no ordinary house mouse, this was a field mouse; the one that he had seen in the field of the site of the
new suburban store. It ran away from the field where the bulldozers were and headed towards Eiseley
s apartment building. The mouse made a burrow in the flower pot and was quick to hide and not be
seen. He tried to dig the burrow deeper but failed. Eiseley then refilled the burrow with the dirt and
did not expect to see the mouse again. To his surprise the burrow reopened but there was no sign of
the field mouse. Not even the temptation of food would draw the mouse out. He thought it would end
up in some trap or someone else s apartment.

The Stock Market Crash Of 1929, By Brenda Lange
On October 29, 1929, America experienced the most calamitous stock market crash in its history.
Although some tried to prevent the crash from getting worse, the fear and panic that so many
Americans felt, caused them to make a horrible situation even worse. The 1929 stock market crash
affected America in several ways, causing America to go from a time of prosperity, to a time of strife,
leading Americans to lose billions of dollars and also leading to an increase in homelessness and
unemployment rates, leaving America devastated.
Before the market crash, many people were happy and optimistic about the future. Brenda Lange,
author of The Stock Market Crash of 1929, wrote that the time before the crash was a time of
optimism and hope, and the future looked promising. (Lange 12), referring to how people had nothing
to worry about. With a majority of people believing that nothing bad would happen, the small signs of
the future crash went unnoticed, leading to a mass panic when the market first went down, which was
a partial cause of the October 29th crash. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

while almost everyone else was indirectly affected by the crash. With such a large number of people

Therefore, all stock prices went down by a immense percentage, causing citizens and companies alike
to lose an extensive amount of money. Consequently, because of the companies substantial loss, they

Empirical Formula Of Zinc Iodide Lab Report
Introduction: The main purpose of this experiment is to determine the empirical formula of zinc
iodide, and in addition, validate the law of conservation of mass by precisely determining the
quantities of reactants and products. Empirical formula is the simplest type of chemical formula. The
simplest ratio of the number of atoms of each element in the compound is determined by the empirical
formal of a compound. Typically the ratio provided by the empirical formula contains whole numbers.
On the other hand, there are molecular formulas in which gives the definite number of atoms of the
element. Glucose (sugar) has a molecular formula of C6H12O6 and an empirical formula of CH2 O.

Next, a glass stirring rod was used periodically in which dissolved the iodine. It continued to boil for
about twenty minutes and at this point in the boiling process the dark brown color of the dissolved
iodine subsided and this was an indication that displayed that the reaction had been complete. At this
moment, there was observable unreacted zinc granules in which remained at the base of the flask. The
reaction was then completed and the flask was removed from the hot plate using tongs, the aluminum
foil used to cover the top of the flask was removed. Following that a 250 mL beaker was clean, dried
and then weighed. After doing that the mass of the empty beaker was recorded. Then a glass rod was
placed across the neck of the flask and poured out into a beaker in which was previously weighed, and
left the unreacted zinc in the flask. The zinc was washed with 5mL portions of methanol. When doing

Indonesia in the 1980 s
Indonesia s industrialisation policies play an important role in supporting the achievement of high and
sustained economic growth. The move towards export promotion from import substitution in the mid
1980s succeeded in restructuring the economy from agriculture to semi industrious.
As a result, the role of industry within the economy has become increasingly important, and whilst it
has been successful within its own sphere of socio economic prosperity and sustainability, in relative
terms, Indonesia has still been outperformed by the 4 ASIAN tigers. Whilst bold and decisive
redirection of economic policy is effective, if the implementation and execution of new policies fails
to anticipate the demands of a competitive international market, then those policies will be of
significantly less worth in a global context. The fiscal policies of the island group just north of
Australia need to be flexible to allow for a changing, growing market, the pro active approach.
Indonesia is the largest economy in South East Asia, primary industry of industry (47%), agriculture
(15%) and a service industry that makes up nearly 40% of the GDP. More than 1,000 islands totalling
almost 2,000,000sq/km make up the largest archipelago in the world. In 2012 the labour force stood at
120 million, 16 times the population of NSW. So what we have is a top 20 economy with a huge
workforce and natural resources worth 10s of billions a year.

Greek, India, and China Contributions
Today, our lives are based on technology. We have computers, iPods, phones, televisions, etc... but,
what about the unnoticeable contributions that affect us more than we could imagine. The screw for
example. The screw is everywhere around us. In fact its in your computers, televisions, iPods, and
phones. The screw holds your more significant objects together in place. Like the screw the
contributions of Greece, India, and China all have an impact on us today but it goes unnoticeable. All
of these civilizations were created around the same time and fell around the same time period. Even
though all these civilizations took place in around the same time period they all have very different
impacts on the world we have today. In the times of Ancient Greece, India, and China there were
numerous contributions that influenced us today, but, Greece had more contributions in math and
medicine that lead them to have the greatest overall impact on us today. Greece has contributed a lot to
society today in the medical field and in mathematics. Starting with medicine, the modern day medical
symbol was derived from Greece. The god Asclepius (the god of health) thought snakes were holy so
he created the medical symbol we know of today of a staff coiled around a staff with wings (Michael

European Imperialism In The Caribbean
The effects of European colonization can still be seen today. It can be seen physically in the
landscapes of the islands of the Caribbean, and mentally it is still present in some of the inhabitant s
minds. Political struggles should not be ignored as well as many islands have struggled since their
independence. Today when many Europeans look back at the peak of their country s empires they see
the Caribbean as a contributing factor. While there is no question as to the wealth generated by the

And by the end of the War of Spanish Secession, piracy was soon outlawed in the Caribbean. What
Rediker is showing is not only the European empires desire for more wealth, but also the ruling
classes ability to control the working class to gain more wealth. Furthermore, he shows that as soon as
the ruling class finds a more profitable way to make money, their attitudes would change regardless of
the concerns of the working class. He also points out that the sailors knew that these wars were fought,
for the most part, over wealth, a substantial portion of which was based on the key commodities of the
Atlantic trades in which he worked gold, silver, fish, furs, servants and slaves, sugar, tobacco, and
manufactures (Rediker 21). Once privateering was outlawed, and combined with the downsizing of
European navies, many sailors found themselves out of work. This led to the rise of piracy, and in my
opinion directly challenged the notion that European empires were strong and powerful. Piracy could
be viewed a war on the rich, where men who saw no other economic opportunity choose to steal from
whom they used to work for. During the golden age of piracy between 1716 and 1726, according to
Rediker around 2400 ships were captured. European countries could do little as their navies were
reduced in size after the War of Spanish Secession. The capturing and sometimes burning of

Apartheid was a social and political policy by the white minority government. Everyone was

in the movie. The aliens take refuge in the slums and then these slums are walled up and this is the
only proper place for them to live in. The aliens live in separate areas from the humans, which is
parallel to the apartheid policies in real life. There are signs everywhere in District Nine s
Johannesburg which tells the aliens that the facilities in the city is for human usage and they cannot

designated areas and public facilities have signs on them stating who can use it. Benches, beaches and

Summary Of The Movie The Aftermath
The Aftermath Through the emerging 21st Century, there was straining tension in the air with a
concentration encircling the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the United States. The resulting effect from this
event was the modification of the entire system of airplane modeling, safety, procedure, and
technology to conform to the emerging dangers of air flight in attempt to making travel a more
enjoyable and protected experience. Though this new and improved system of air flight demonstrated
positivity and appeared to be a fantastic alternative to the previous regulations, the world was shocked
in July 2002 whilst the Bashkirian Airlines Flight 2937 had a fortuitous collision with airline DH2
Flight 611 (Gugliemi 6). In this concussion, the air flight traffic coordinator was temporarily distracted
while the two planes conflicted due to lack of communication. During the period at which one airplane
descended 10,00 feet, the other ascended 10,000 feet resulting in the death of hundreds of people upon
plummeting to the immediate earth (YouTube). In the movie trailer of the Aftermath, a specific
storyline is developed in order to both captivate and inspire the spectators. Kayolev is confronted with
the terrible reality that his wife, daughter and future grandchild were aboard the plane that resulted in
a terrible demise. In the furtherance of this trailer, the original protagonist withstands a series of events
and becomes an antagonist through realizing his external

Social Justice
Justice in a Capitalist Society
Justice basically advocating for individuals to have what is due to them. As a result, it becomes easy to
achieve fairness and impartiality in dealing with political, economic and social issues. Therefore,
social justice can be described as the promotion of a fair society by calling fighting injustices and also
upholding diversity. This can be observed in a society where people exhibit common humanity and all
have equal access to treatment, social services and equitable allocation of resources. This sort of
society condemns discrimination in the strongest terms possible, there is no prejudice, gender bias,
religious persecution, and ethnic profiling. According to the John Rawl s theory, inequalities in
allocation of a society s resources can be allowed only if it is in the best interest of the lowest earners
of the particular society (Rawls, 1999). The theory also prescribes that every individual in any ...

The Effects of Alcohol and Caffeine on the Heartbeat Rate in Daphnia Magnus
Abstract
The projects purpose was to determine the effects of alcohol and caffeine on the heartbeat rate in
Daphnia Magnus. Our hypothesis is alcohol causes a decrease in heart rate, whereas caffeine causes an
accelerated heart rate, predicting that the more caffeine we give the daphnia the faster it heartbeat rate
will become and the heartbeat rate will decrease as we give the Daphnia alcohol. After doing the
experiment we found that the more caffeine we added to the Daphnia Magna the faster its heartbeat
rate became. We also found that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We Placed 1 drop of a 1% caffeine solution on the Daphnia. After waiting for a few seconds we began
to count the heart beats and recorded the results on our data sheet.
Next we removed the excess solution from the Daphnia and flushed it with aquarium water. Using the
same procedure we monitored the effects of 1 1/2% and 2.0% caffeine solutions and recorded our
results and placed the Daphnia in the recovery tank. After completing the caffeine series, we obtained
a the second set of drugs. This time instead of using caffeine we used varied concentrations of alcohol
2%, 4% and 6% using the same method as the caffeine procedure. Again recording our results and
placing the Daphnia in the recovery tank when finished.
Results
The original purpose of this experiment was to determine how alcohol and caffeine
effected the heartbeat rate of a Daphnia. The results of the experiment were that the
higher percentage caffeine and alcohol placed onto the Daphnia the higher the heart rate.
Average Daphnia Magnus Heartbeats per Minute

Conclusion
After completing the experiment we found that when we gave the Daphnia caffeine the heartbeat rate
did show an increase. However, we also found that alcohol also increased the number of times the
heart beat. Even though we performed all of the experiments very carefully, we cannot be certain that
the effect we saw was due to the drugs. Perhaps the change in heartbeat rate is caused by

How The Clean Water Is A Very Important Aspect Of Health
This report represents my individual effort. I did not receive or offer aid to anyone when performing
this assignment, nor did I plagiarize any material.
Signed: __________________________________________________________
Introduction Having clean water is a very crucial aspect of health. Many people don t have access to
clean water, this can be life threatening. There are lethal bacterial infections that are present in water.
There are many different diseases that can acquire by drinking contaminated water like: cholera,
typhoid fever, and dysentery. The biggest concern and issue is the ingestion of water that is
contaminated with fecal matter (1). It has been discovered that the main source of bacteria is this fecal
contamination. Fecal matter can enter water sources by runoff from farms or any area that contains
many animals. This contamination can also come from insects, rats, or other small animals entering
wells or water sources (2). Testing the quality of water, it is often common to test if the water contains
coliforms. It is easier to test for coliforms, instead of testing for bacteria that can cause each
waterborne disease. Coliforms are gram negative, facultative anaerobic bacteria that do not form
endospores. They are also rod shaped and will ferment lactose (slides). When they ferment lactose,
this will produce acid and gas. This acid and gas production will allow the total coliform count to be
determined.

Pros And Cons Of Medical Technology
After careful consideration given to the pros and cons of technology, I have arrived at the conclusion
that advanced technology is, indeed, far greater than the absence of the technology we have acquired,
and which we will continue to acquire. Medical technology, for example, for what brings to mind is
the Da Vinci Robotic Surgeon, which can perform very delicate procedures such as brain surgery. It is
designed to facilitate complex surgery using a minimally invasive approach, and is controlled by a
surgeon from a console. The system is commonly used for Prostatectomies, and increasingly for
Cardiac Valve Repair and Gynecologic surgical procedures. According to the manufacturer, the
American company Intuitive Surgical. the Da Vinci System is called Da Vinci in part because
Leonardo Da Vinci s, study of human anatomy eventually led to the design of the first known
automaton in history. Additionally, through robotics, many surgical procedures are now performed
using lasers. Before this technology, patients were subjected to large surgical incisions, leaving
enormous scars. Now, however, the laser surgeries are successfully performed and they have even cut
patients hospital stays shorter or even on an outpatient basis. Additionally, advanced prosthetic limbs
can give an amputee almost the same range of movement as human arms, legs and other various body
parts. The Tmsuk Enryu T 52 Manriquez 2 援竜, Des. Rescue Dragon is a Japanese invention that is a

Is Piracy Truly Hurting The Film, Record, And Game Industry
You wouldn t download a pizza! A popular advertisement against internet piracy in the late nineties
and the early 2000s, albeit while humorous, shows the public stance on piracy. Although internet
piracy is often seen as a horrible crime that cripples the movie, gaming, and record industries; recent
studies, as well as the outlook of several major companies/producers, say that ( You ) these claims are
over exaggerated. The question posed in this paper is fairly simple, but has been debated since the first
few years internet piracy began to bud: is piracy truly hurting the film, record, and game industry as
much as we are told? Before statistics are thrown in, as well as interviews and other various factoids,
the definition of piracy should be made clear. Piracy refers to the act of using or reproducing another s
work without authority. The alternate definition; however, which is older and still used today, means,
The attacking and robbing of ships at sea. You will never see Blackbeard torrenting (torrenting is a
popular form of obtaining pirated media) the latest Katy Perry album, and you will never see some
nerdy kid with no money plundering a cruise ship. Public opinion of piracy is not a very positive one:
record companies, film producers, and even some game developers see pirates as heartless criminals,
sitting behind a keyboard as they download millions of dollars worth of stolen content, and in turn,
about forty percent of the general public see it that way as

Globalization and Lower Living Standards for Americans...
Kofi Annan, a UN diplomat, once said, ...that arguing against globalization is like arguing against the
laws of gravity. He is undoubtedly correct in this assessment. Indeed, globalization is no longer
something to be skeptical of, it is very real and is changing our world exponentially. The affects of
globalization, however, continue to be a heated topic for debate. Proponents praise the overall
economic lift provided by free trade, the diffusion of cultures, and the spread of democracy and
capitalism. Critics cry foul at the loss of national identity, the accelerated and uncontrolled use of
natural resources, and the redistribution of wealth into the hands of a few very powerful people and

If it had not been for the increasing awareness of other cultures brought about by globalization Yoga
would never have grown to the fad it is today. This prevalence of global fads can be seen in many
ways, especially in entertainment and technology. When I was younger I regularly read Japanese
manga comics. These comics, long popular in Japan, only recently became popular in America due to
the proliferation of American fan translations on the internet. Through manga I learned a lot of
Japanese culture and found hours of entertainment that I would not have experienced otherwise. As
with the entertainment of Japanese comics, I also play several video games designed in Japan and
regularly use technology such as the Sony Playstation. In fact, the computer I type on is of Korean
origin. Without globalization these parts of my life would be quite different. The prevalence of
technology and ideas can only have a positive impact on the world and my life. The more minds in the
world that can cooperatively work to improve our lives the better. My life has definitely been
impacted by this aspect of globalization and I am grateful for it. How many hours of enjoyment have I
gotten from international entertainment, how much easier does my computer make my life? These
things are not immediately quantifiable, but I can be sure that I would rather have these experiences
and technologies than to have missed out on them. In addition to the affects of globalization on my life

with his effort, Morris continues to study the details of the story by continuing to interview Adams and

Wood occurred. Morris does this beginning part to study Adams case as he believes Adams was

do not believe Adams and suspect him as a murderer because of evidence from Harris and the surprise
witnesses. They continue investigating the case, but no additional evidence can be found. To close the
case fast, the police department states that Adams singed a confession that he had confessed

I could use it to run, push buttons, of one sort or another, make things happen. There were limits but my body was nevertheless lithe, single, solid, one with me. Now the flesh arranges itself differently. I m a cloud, congealed around a central object, the shape of a pear, which is hard and more real than I am and glows red within its translucent wrapping. Inside it is a space, huge as the sky at night and dark and curved like that, though black red rather than black. Pinpoints of light well, sparkle, burst and shrivel within it, countless as stars. Every month there is a moon, gigantic, round, heavy, an omen. It transits, pauses, continues on an passes out of sight, and I see despair coming towards me like famine. To feel that empty, again, again. I listen to my heart, wave upon wave, salty and red, continuing on and on, marking time. The Government Effect On Protests Demonstrations Protests The Government Effect On The Protests Protests have numerous factors that affect the result of the protest and one major element is the government. In the 1960 s some protests were brutal due to discrimination; yet, the largest protest achieved to maintain a safe environment because the government respected and allowed the protests. The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom in 1963 peacefully gathered approximately 250,000 citizens together to protest the high level of black unemployment, minimal wages African Americans received for jobs, poor job mobility, and continuous racial segregation. In contrast, The Gezi Park Protests in Turkey, Taksim in 2013 got out of control due to the government response to the initial 50 environmentalists who opposed to cutting the trees and building a shopping mall instead. The government used police force brutally against the activists and as a result, approximately 3.5 million protesters right to freely voice their dissatisfaction and use the media was constrained. So, even though today, overall technology and cities have improved excessively, Turkey is still facing an immense pressure and constraint from the government during protests compare to the protests fifty years ago in Washington D.C. • 6. Analysis Of Annabel Lee s A Kingdom By The Sea The turn of the nineteenth century for the newly formed United States was a time of nervous apprehension running alongside a giddy sense of adventure. The colonist had shirked the cloak of Britain and was a fledgling country of their own, similar to a young adult trying to figure out their way after leaving home. Nothing spoke of this like the Romantic writings in the early nineteenth century. The works tended to have a lot of good vs. evil and oppressor vs. oppressed. They tended to be optimistic, very democratic in their views, anti slavery, some even dipped into the early women s rights movement. The romantics were rebels with a cause, nonconforming individuals that think and stay true to how they see themselves. Along with the lofty language, the authors tended to write their prose they also managed to keep the details of their writings very generic. Such as Edgar Allen Poe, with his location description in Annabel Lee: In a kingdom by the sea. (Poe) The Romantic author also liked being a master of his or her fate. The Realist was different from the Romantic in as many areas. The Realist time was after the Civil War, many of them lived through the carnage, and it affected their views of life and the world. Realist writings usually consisted of a distinct time and place, unlike the Romantics generalizations. Samuel Clemens using the pen name Mark Twain had his novels set clearly in the Mississippi River delta during a particular time in history, his childhood. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dread Scott definitely created a lot of controversy between people throughout the United States with his artwork What is the Proper Way to Display a Flag. People started communicating and discussing the artwork with one another. This definitely evoked a lot of people negatively. Americans were very upset to see this art displayed in a public museum. No, not the jerkish guy down the street, a literal ass. Can you imagine four days filled with declarations of love, hate, curses, cures, disgust, and delight? An ultimatum so great it pits two people married for centuries against each other? Love is in the air, and so is hate in Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream. Unfortunate circumstances fall upon seven lovers in the woods one night, proving that love is more fickle than true. Outside circumstances often play a role in love, but in the case of Titania and Bottom, an outside circumstance brought them together completely. The King and Queen seemingly have been married forever, and most likely have been fighting for forever as well. Oberon and Titania are fairies, meaning they help bring balance to nature, but they have been neglecting their duties because of their argument. Titiana vents, And never, since the middle summer s spring, Met we on hill, in dale, forest, or mead, By paved fountain or rush brook, or in the beached margent of the sea (2.1.82). While they argue and avoid each other the nature they are supposed to be taking care of is beginning to show the neglect, And, through this distemperature, we see The season alter: hoary headed frosts Fall in the fresh lap of the crimson rose, and on old Heim s thin and icy crown an odorous chaplet of sweet summer buds is, as in mockery, set (2.1.108). The reason the King and Queen are fighting is rather strange, Oberon wants a mortal boy whom Titania has taken as her ward. Oberon gives no reason as to why he wants the boy so bad, he probably just wants him because Tatiana loves him so much. Titana befriended a mortal woman and spent hours gossiping with her, laying on the sands by the shore, and when the mortal woman got pregnant and died during childbirth, Titans made a promise to raise the child. Oberon was annoyed with Tatiana s stubbornness and set out to make her pay by cursing her to fall in love with something humiliating, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I wanted to know more about his legal philosophy of originalism and the legacy he left. I wanted to read on some of his landmark case rulings. I focused on one to include in my research paper. My thesis statement is as follows: Justice Antonin Scalia made no apologies for his legal philosophy of originalism, despite opposition from other justices and the public. Scalia believed that the United States Constitution should strictly be interpreted in terms of what the founding fathers had meant for it when the Constitution was written. How Reganomics Destroyed Middle Class America How Reaganomics Destroyed the Middle Class Reaganomics are the economic policies that were set and promoted in 1980s by the U.S. President Ronald Reagan. These policies are mainly connected to trickle down economics. There are four pillars that are associated with the economic policy of Reagan and they include: reduce government economic regulation, reduce growth of how much the government spends, reduce the marginal tax rates such as capital gains tax and income tax and lastly reduce the level of inflation by controlling money supply growth. This means that the department was left without funds hence there was no money that could be used to pay those who were working in the social security majority of which were middle class people. This shows how the middle class people were destroyed as a result of Reaganomics which forced the middle class people to pay more taxes. In the end of his two terms as the president of the U.S., 5% of the population which comprise of the rich had received double wealth and economic share of ownership while 95% of the population which comprise of the middle class people and the poor had no progress when it comes to immersion of wealth instead they had lost more of their wealth due to inflation and high tax rates (Barone 120). Nevertheless, the social security meant to benefit the rich poor since they were the ones who owned property. The middle class people did not obtain any form of social security thus were forced to protect their own wealth. Empirical formula is the simplest type of chemical formula. The simplest ratio of the number of atoms of each element in the compound is determined by the empirical formal of a compound. Typically the ratio provided by the empirical formula contains whole numbers. On the other hand, there are molecular formulas in which gives the definite number of atoms of the element. As a result, the role of industry within the economy has become increasingly important, and whilst it has been successful within its own sphere of socio economic prosperity and sustainability, in relative terms, Indonesia has still been outperformed by the 4 ASIAN tigers. Whilst bold and decisive redirection of economic policy is effective, if the implementation and execution of new policies fails to anticipate the demands of a competitive international market, then those policies will be of significantly less worth in a global context. He also points out that the sailors knew that these wars were fought, for the most part, over wealth, a substantial portion of which was based on the key commodities of the Atlantic trades in which he worked gold, silver, fish, furs, servants and slaves, sugar, tobacco, and manufactures (Rediker 21). Once privateering was outlawed, and combined with the downsizing of European navies, many sailors found themselves out of work. This led to the rise of piracy, and in my opinion directly challenged the notion that European empires were strong and powerful. I did not receive or offer aid to anyone when performing this assignment, nor did I plagiarize any material. Signed: __________________________________________________________ Introduction Having clean water is a very crucial aspect of health. Many people don t have access to clean water, this can be life threatening. There are lethal bacterial infections that are present in water. There are many different diseases that can acquire by drinking contaminated water like: cholera, typhoid fever, and dysentery. The biggest concern and issue is the ingestion of water that is contaminated with fecal matter (1). It has been discovered that the main source of bacteria is this fecal contamination. Fecal matter can enter water sources by runoff from farms or any area that contains many animals. This contamination can also come from insects, rats, or other small animals entering wells or water sources (2). Testing the quality of water, it is often common to test if the water contains coliforms. It is easier to test for coliforms, instead of testing for bacteria that can cause each waterborne disease. Coliforms are gram negative, facultative anaerobic bacteria that do not form endospores. They are also rod shaped and will ferment lactose (slides). When they ferment lactose, this will produce acid and gas. This acid and gas production will allow the total coliform count to be determined. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is designed to facilitate complex surgery using a minimally invasive approach, and is controlled by a surgeon from a console. The system is commonly used for Prostatectomies, and increasingly for Cardiac Valve Repair and Gynecologic surgical procedures. According to the manufacturer, the American company Intuitive Surgical. the Da Vinci System is called Da Vinci in part because Leonardo Da Vinci s, study of human anatomy eventually led to the design of the first known automaton in history. Additionally, through robotics, many surgical procedures are now performed using lasers. Before this technology, patients were subjected to large surgical incisions, leaving enormous scars. Now, however, the laser surgeries are successfully performed and they have even cut patients hospital stays shorter or even on an outpatient basis. Additionally, advanced prosthetic limbs can give an amputee almost the same range of movement as human arms, legs and other various body parts. The Tmsuk Enryu T 52 Manriquez 2 援竜, Des. • 33. Is Piracy Truly Hurting The Film, Record, And Game Industry You wouldn t download a pizza! A popular advertisement against internet piracy in the late nineties and the early 2000s, albeit while humorous, shows the public stance on piracy. Although internet piracy is often seen as a horrible crime that cripples the movie, gaming, and record industries; recent studies, as well as the outlook of several major companies/producers, say that ( You ) these claims are over exaggerated. The question posed in this paper is fairly simple, but has been debated since the first few years internet piracy began to bud: is piracy truly hurting the film, record, and game industry as much as we are told? Before statistics are thrown in, as well as interviews and other various factoids, the definition of piracy should be made clear. Piracy refers to the act of using or reproducing another s work without authority. The alternate definition; however, which is older and still used today, means, The attacking and robbing of ships at sea. You will never see Blackbeard torrenting (torrenting is a popular form of obtaining pirated media) the latest Katy Perry album, and you will never see some nerdy kid with no money plundering a cruise ship. Public opinion of piracy is not a very positive one: record companies, film producers, and even some game developers see pirates as heartless criminals, sitting behind a keyboard as they download millions of dollars worth of stolen content, and in turn, about forty percent of the general public see it that way as ... He is undoubtedly correct in this assessment. Indeed, globalization is no longer something to be skeptical of, it is very real and is changing our world exponentially. The affects of globalization, however, continue to be a heated topic for debate. Proponents praise the overall economic lift provided by free trade, the diffusion of cultures, and the spread of democracy and capitalism. Critics cry foul at the loss of national identity, the accelerated and uncontrolled use of natural resources, and the redistribution of wealth into the hands of a few very powerful people and corporations. If it had not been for the increasing awareness of other cultures brought about by globalization Yoga would never have grown to the fad it is today. This prevalence of global fads can be seen in many ways, especially in entertainment and technology. When I was younger I regularly read Japanese manga comics. These comics, long popular in Japan, only recently became popular in America due to the proliferation of American fan translations on the internet. Through manga I learned a lot of Japanese culture and found hours of entertainment that I would not have experienced otherwise. As with the entertainment of Japanese comics, I also play several video games designed in Japan and regularly use technology such as the Sony Playstation. In fact, the computer I type on is of Korean origin. Without globalization these parts of my life would be quite different. The prevalence of technology and ideas can only have a positive impact on the world and my life. The more minds in the world that can cooperatively work to improve our lives the better. My life has definitely been impacted by this aspect of globalization and I am grateful for it. How many hours of enjoyment have I gotten from international entertainment, how much easier does my computer make my life? These things are not immediately quantifiable, but I can be sure that I would rather have these experiences and technologies than to have missed out on them.
