1. Firstly I decided to cut out the image on
Adobe Photoshop and make the
magazine cover have a black
background.
I decided to use the black background
as the dark colour is a typical horror
convention.
I also decided to make the image
darker as it would represent the genre
of horror.
2. I then added the title to the magazine
cover. I chose to use the title
‘PREMIERE’ as it relates to new film
releases, therefore the audience would
know the type of magazine when it is
for sale in shops.
I chose to present the title in the colour
white as it doesn’t take the attention
away from other aspects included on
my magazine cover.
3. After this I decided to add the date and
price of the magazine to make it look
presentable in terms of ideology. I
researched other magazines to find out
the prices that they sell for. I used a
reasonable price which would also attract
the readers too buy my magazine.
I also added some text saying ‘MASSIVE
PREVIEW SPECIAL!’ to also catch the
readers attention to buy it.
4. I then added a bar code to also make
the magazine look realistic.
I added text to the magazine cover
including the contents of the magazine.
This is vital on the front of my magazine
as the target audience will be attracted
to secondary things within the
magazine and not just the primary
aspect which is the film ‘VENGEANCE’.
5. After this I eventually added the actual
title of the horror film. I decided to
keep the same font as I will be using on
the poster for my horror film to give a
sense of continuity. I used the colour
red as it gives connotations blood
therefore represents the horror genre.
I also added more text such as ‘IN THIS
ISSUE’ and ‘PLUS’. Also I added symbols
such as a ‘+’ symbol, and a ‘*’ to
highlight the important things on the
magazine cover.
I added a black bar shape at the bottom
of the magazine which gives details of a
competition inside of the magazine
which makes the magazine look
realistic. I used the colour yellow as it
can catch the target audiences eye.
6. Finally I added another bar with text in
saying ‘CHATS WITH THE CAST OF…’
rather than just having a random title of
‘VENGEANCE’ on the magazine cover.
