Auxiliaries Auxiliaries  are known as  “ helping verbs ”   –  they  “ help ”  a  main verb   that MUST  follow  them.   • 3. Auxiliaries Auxiliaries are known as “ helping verbs ” – they “ help ” a main verb that MUST follow them. Here are some more auxiliaries: Must Can Be Have  “ must ” and “ can ” are always auxiliaries .  “ be ” and “ have ” are sometimes auxiliaries and sometimes main verbs .
