Adjectives <ul><li>An adjective is a word that describes, or modifies , a noun . </li></ul><ul><li>If a word can appear here ________ , it is an adjective : </li></ul><ul><li>The _______ thing ( or any common noun ). </li></ul><ul><li>Examples: </li></ul><ul><li>The small thing; the nice person; the smart boy; the amazing movie. </li></ul>
  2. 2. Adjectives <ul><li>We can generalize our test: </li></ul><ul><li>an adjective can appear between any determiner and noun : </li></ul><ul><li>John’s best man . </li></ul><ul><li>His wonderful friend . </li></ul><ul><li>Two good ideas . </li></ul><ul><li>That hungry bear . </li></ul>
