2. WHAT IS A TEACHING PORTFOLIO?
• It is a tool that is intended to
demonstrate the responsibilities,
challenges, philosophy and tasks
assigned to the teacher.
• It is a factual description of a
professor’s teaching strengths and
accomplishments. It includes
documents and materials that
collectively suggest the scope and
quality of a professor’s teaching
performance(Seldin, 2011).
3. WHY WOULD I PREPARE A TEACHING
PORTFOLIO?
• The portfolio is to teaching what lists
of publications, grants, and honors
are to research and scholarship.
• It allows faculty members to display
their teaching accomplishments for
examination by others.
• In the process, it contributes both to
sounder personnel decisions and to
the professional development of
individual faculty members (Seldin,
1991)
