  • guest8d6b9a0 guest8d6b9a0 @jaybaer. firstly, thx for your response. i misinterpreted you regarding twitter, sorry for that. anyway, given the circumstances that twitter still lacks an convenient business modell, already having problems to mantain their user activities (e.g. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/scienceandtechnology/technology/twitter/5242895/Majority-of-new-Twitter-users-desert-after-one-month.html) and generally seeming to benefit more from the present web 2.0 hype than delivering a specific value,... i still doubt that they will overcome the next years as long as we do not see a big change in usability (don`t wanna say that its not going to happen, time will tell). furthermore, the quite impresive user numbers (you mentioned them already) derive in my point of view mainly from the fact that you can integrate their service to ohter social media - of course a typical attribute of all new web2.0 applications - however, this prevents us to evaluate the more important figures, mainly user retention...anyway. for i`m on principle quite keen about the recent developments regarding web 2.0 (or whatever one wanna call it) technologies (right now, taking advantage of it by using a free platform provider (slideshare) and reading/commenting on a free provided user content (what is you, jaybaer; thank you by the way for taking the effort), sometimes i still miss a 'smarter' adoption... partly, you just mentioned it yourself: lacking your presentation, a presumably rich content turns into something...well, less valuable, as a natural or personal aspect is missing, somewhat which can not be delivered that easily by technology (something what i consider especially valid for the 'big' social media...i can not understand how people can consider to 'manage' their contacts through them to even come close to meeting a friend in real life). well, as i said already: there are interesting things going on out there regarding web technologies, social webs, new trends,etc... however, i think we should not exaggerate in terms of speaking about it as a revolution or something similar (still, its the good 'old' internet and for sure you know what mr. berners-lee has to say about it and its 2.0-'changes'; i agree on that with him) as we have seen too many bubbles and hypes in recent years...the use of free content, social media, facebook`s etc. for businesses might turn out to be a double-edged sword. it was not thought to be for enterprises, and users are not stupid...it might be useful, but i would recommend not to jump into it without analyising your position very well. in my point of you its defenitley not adequate medium for all kind of business, and neither a all-in-one device suitable for every purpose... in spite of everything, again thank you for your effort. Regards. 3 years ago Reply
