  • Thanks for sharing. Someone, somewhere in Africa, somehow should pull the trigger. The problem is that our leaders are busy with other things. Taking the risk to integrate it should start with the bottom-up. If we wait for the up-bottom to do it, we will wait for LONG time. Thanks for a very informative presentation for African fellows:-)

  • guest2e8e17 would seem to have missed the point completely, unless s/he lives in Africa. I am an African, and this presentation is for fellow Africans. At no stage did I say that guest2e8e17 should care about Africa. The point of the presentation is to get Africans to care about collaborating because thats the only way we can make higher education work. This person made up his own story around the slides, because nowhere did I say 'now we're expected to just 'be nice' and provide for an entire continent?'. That statement would seem to arise out of guest2e8e17's lack of knowledge and the shortcomings of his/her own education. Regarding why guest2e8e17 should care about Africa, at no stage did I suggest that anyone should solve our problems but ourselves. This would also seem to arise out of preconception and ignorance, rather than out of anything in my presentation. guest2e8e17 makes his/her lack of humanity evident from his/her comments, which speak to themselves.

  • Did you know, that in Finland all education from primary education all the way up to university education is free by constitution?

That makes quite a difference, as you can see from my slideshow:
    http://www.slideshare.net/mgrtbx/how-do-we-educate-our-children

Before entering Education 3.0, I think there are more fundamental things to be solved in the Education ABC in Africa. Both can of course happen hand in hand - improving one improves the other.

  • Thanks Derek Keats for putting things into perspective regarding Africa and the rest of the world. I suppose the '101 Free Learning tools' presentation could be useful to share with your colleagues:

Hopefully, more people will get involved and support education 3.0 in the coming years.

    Warm Regards,

    Zaid
