    Business is like a Game …

    Principle 1 – Teach the Game OR
    • “ When all the employees understand the dynamics of business, everyone can feel, think and act like management”
    • “ All the players are aware of the final objective”
    • Win the season? Play for the nationals? Compete in the worldcup?
    Principle 2 – Share the Macro Vision
    • “ Each season is broken into multiple games, each independent from the other”
    Principle 3 – Set near term targets
    • “ The Score is always visible on a public Scoreboard”
    Principle 4 – Keep Score

    • Measure everything
    • Let teams define Critical numbers
    • Don’t focus on more than 2-3 critical numbers
    • Keep changing the Critical numbers
    • Make a game out of the Critical numbers
    • Share your critical numbers every month / day / hour / minute across teams

    • Blow up the scoreboards – the bigger the better
    • Advantages
      • Statistics are fun
      • Numbers make work challenging – give a sense of purpose
      • Provide a sense of accomplishment

      • Noone wants to fail a target – especially one they have set themselves
    • Open book management
