HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT REPRESENT
      PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUPS?
Todays Aspect On Society


Different Media has an effect on our society. It has an effect on the representation of
femininity of what you are expected to look like in which this has effected the physical
aspects on social groups particularly teenagers and young adults, in which this is my target
audience for my music magazine.




Society are now influenced more on the visual appeal and attractiveness. For example you
have celebrities such as Rihanna and Tulisa who are constantly changing their image. This
has lead to competition to creating that perfect image of a figure in which teenagers and
young adults inspire to be.
      This relates to my music magazine as the celebrity model on the front cover and
         double page spread will influence the reader by the costume and pose.

    This is a mid-shot photo. Most of the model outfit is cropped
    out which makes the reader wonder what she is wearing as it
     only reveals part of the outfit in which teenagers and young
     adult might want too see as they consider it for themselves.
    The facial expression is a key point in this photo as it links to
        the pull quote ‘Dreams Do Come True’ so it signifies
     possibilities on what the article could be about as people in
        society always want to know other peoples business.

     The models outfit is fashionable in which this would again
     influence teenagers and young adults to copy this similar
     style as she is iconic. However, this may also have a male
       gaze appeal as she is posed attractively with her hair
                movement along with her slim figure.

     This image also represents the ‘sexy’ feminine side in her
      outfit however, as the background image is countryside
     which shows that you don’t have to be over the top to look
                             attractive.

      It also appeals to a wider demographic and signifies rural
      girls can look good with out being over the top. She is not
     representing a country girl in a stereotypical way due to her
                                costume.

Media: how does your media product represent particular social groups?

  • 1. Media HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT REPRESENT PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUPS?
  • 2. Todays Aspect On Society Different Media has an effect on our society. It has an effect on the representation of femininity of what you are expected to look like in which this has effected the physical aspects on social groups particularly teenagers and young adults, in which this is my target audience for my music magazine. Society are now influenced more on the visual appeal and attractiveness. For example you have celebrities such as Rihanna and Tulisa who are constantly changing their image. This has lead to competition to creating that perfect image of a figure in which teenagers and young adults inspire to be.  This relates to my music magazine as the celebrity model on the front cover and double page spread will influence the reader by the costume and pose.
  • 3. Front Cover The features on the magazine The model is directly looking relate to what the teenagers at the reader which shows and young adults in society confidence in herself in which are mostly interested in as I teenagers and young adults in have found this out from the society usually are. Most of the model outfit is cropped out which makes the reader wonder what she is wearing as it only reveals part of the outfit in which teenagers and young adult might want too see as they consider it for themselves. The facial expression is a key point in this photo as it links to the pull quote ‘Dreams Do Come True’ so it signifies possibilities on what the article could be about as people in society always want to know other peoples business. The models outfit is fashionable in which this would again influence teenagers and young adults to copy this similar style as she is iconic. However, this may also have a male gaze appeal as she is posed attractively with her hair movement along with her slim figure. This image also represents the ‘sexy’ feminine side in her outfit however, as the background image is countryside which shows that you don’t have to be over the top to look attractive. It also appeals to a wider demographic and signifies rural girls can look good with out being over the top. She is not representing a country girl in a stereotypical way due to her costume.

DPS is young. This is a traditional representation of femininity is stereotypical as teenagers and young adults dress like this these days by partying as that is a big impact on our social society. The models’ clothes reflect the social society as it is a ‘party’ or ‘outgoing’ outfit as this model has blonde hair which has been styled (curled) with a black and gold glittery strapless- dress with black tights and gold heels. It is a conventional representation as she is slim and appeals to the male gaze. This model could influence the reader as they may look for a similar outfit to the model as she is an iconic figure in which people are influenced by and change their look to become like their idol. This leads back to the representation of femininity as this shows a ‘sexy’ look but in a ‘sophisticated’ way.
