Action Plan
Afternoon discussion for action

•  The question:

We have 1,000,000 USD. How can
we best spend this money on ICT
to achieve the greatest results?
Motivate why!
Results from the exercise

•  A variety of creative and viable solutions
   addressing the following themes emerged
  –  Power for every home to address the power issue
  –  More ICT in schools as well as learning centers
  –  Greater access to the Internet and knowledge
     (agriculture was a specific example)
  –  Microloans to finance ICT efforts in education and
     entrepreneurship
The ICT hubs and busses

•  Poverty zones
    –  Fixed centers in urban areas, ICT bus for
       rural areas
•  The hubs and busses provide free access and
   training to ICT devices and tools.
•  The busses are solar powered and self sufficient
   and travel according to a schedule.
Extras

•  Sending contextual information when the buss
   travels the countryside by SMS or Skiza tone
•  Sending Public Service Information via mobiles

  • 2. Afternoon discussion for action •  The question: We have 1,000,000 USD. How can we best spend this money on ICT to achieve the greatest results? Motivate why!
  • 3. Results from the exercise •  A variety of creative and viable solutions addressing the following themes emerged –  Power for every home to address the power issue –  More ICT in schools as well as learning centers –  Greater access to the Internet and knowledge (agriculture was a specific example) –  Microloans to finance ICT efforts in education and entrepreneurship
  • 4. The ICT hubs and busses •  Poverty zones –  Fixed centers in urban areas, ICT bus for rural areas •  The hubs and busses provide free access and training to ICT devices and tools. •  The busses are solar powered and self sufficient and travel according to a schedule.
  • 5. Extras •  Sending contextual information when the buss travels the countryside by SMS or Skiza tone •  Sending Public Service Information via mobiles
