2. I am going to discuss how to optimise your
website so that you can obtain good rankings for
your website for particular keyword phrases.
There is nothing complicated about search
engine optimisation. The more you complicated it
is the more likely you are to do something that is
considered to be manipulation.
However, there are certain things that you should
consider when creating any web page.
3. Your Title Tag
The title tag is important because it is in
effect the label or heading of your page. It
is the first thing that tells people what your
page is about.
If you think about when your page appears
in Google's search results, the title is
highlighted as well as related words within
your page description. So that is what
people are going to see straight away.
4. What About Keywords?
When planning your website content
keep a list of long tail keywords and
phrases. There is nothing magical
about keywords. Just use your
common sense and write down all the
phrases that you think people would
use if they were searching to find your
website. These will be words related to
your particular niche and topic.
5. Google wants to understand the
overall meaning of your website so you
need to include related words that
would be natural for people to use if
they were talking about that topic.
If you write naturally and you are
knowledgeable about your topic then
your content on your website will
automatically contain the kinds of
keyword phrases that people will type
into Google.
6. Where Should You Put Keywords?
Try to include your keyword phrase in
your title and description tag but make
sure that it reads naturally and makes
sense. Add related keywords
throughout your content and use
headings to help your reader navigate
your content and also help the search
engines more fully understand about
your web page.
7. Internal Linking
It is also a good idea to link from
one page on your website to
another page on your site. Again
this will help the search engines
understand what your pages are
about. Use a descriptive anchor
text to link from one page to
another.
8. Use some good keywords for your
categories and also in your navigation
bar.
Your site should be like a spiders web
with all pages connecting to the other
by a whole load of related words and
topics. This is much easier if you create
a website that is niche specific rather
than a very general website.
