Callie Che created a movie poster for a class project by analyzing conventions from real posters and incorporating them into an initial sketch. These conventions included actor names, title, base images, billing block, release date, and production/distribution company logos. For the final poster, Callie used Photoshop to digitize the sketch and make alterations like changing the color scheme to improve readability, incorporating the background from her movie cover, and adding a tagline to summarize the plot and link to her trailer. The final poster balanced the protagonist's skin tone better and made his glowing eyes more distinctive against the background.

2. Draft 1 - Sketch
For my initial sketch, I analysed real life examples of posters. I then
used conventions I found in those posters to create my own.
I used the following conventions:
 Actor Names
 Title
 Base Images
 Billing Block
 Release Date
 Production Company Logo
 Distribution Company Logo
I used multiple images layered to create my base image, involving a
midshot of my protagonist and long shots of my antagonists. This
shows the audience the main cast of the production and the actor
names at the top of the poster gives the actors credit. I used the
same font for my title as in my production to keep the design
consistent. The billing block gives the cast, crew, and involved
companies credit, this helps to explain the roles of each crew
member and recognizes each individual role. The release date
details when the production will be shown which draws an audience
and creates anticipation leading up to the actual release date.

3. Final Draft - Photoshop
I created my product using Adobe Photoshop and the various included
tools. I used these tools to create a digital copy of my initial sketch.
However, I also altered many features from my first draft to the final
draft:
 Colour Scheme
• I used the colour scheme of white, orange, and grey from my first
draft but swapped the colours of certain features. For example, I
changed the title from grey to orange and the billing block and
actor names from grey to white. The change in colour made the
text easier to read against the new background.
 Background
• I used the same background that appears in my magazine cover in
my poster. This creates a common feature and a link between my
ancillaries and my production.
 Tagline
• I added a convention from real life media products into my final
draft which was missing from my first draft. This tagline gives a
short summary into the plot of my production. It also creates a
link to my trailer since it appears in the first two screens of my
production.
 Base Image
• I edited my base image of the protagonist by lowering the
contrast to balance his skin tone. This helps blend the images
better since the colour becomes more balanced and also helps the
orange glowing eyes to appear more distinctive.
