2. Draft 1 - Sketch
For my initial sketch, I analysed real life examples of film websites. I
then used conventions I found in those websites to create my own.
I used the following conventions:
Banner/Header
Menu
Social/Feed Links
Banner Ad
Slideshow
Footer
I sketched a header that matched the font and title that I used
throughout my production and in my other ancillary texts. The
menu lets the audience access different pages of the website which
gives the audience options and allows them to explore different
aspects related to the production. The social media links gives the
audience a simple and quick link towards each site which allows
members of the audience to connect and find out further
information if they want to. The slideshow offers a range of photos
linked to the production which gives an insight into the plot of the
production.
3. Final Draft –Wix.com
I created my product using Adobe Photoshop and the various included
tools. I used these tools to create a digital copy of my initial sketch.
However, I also altered many features from my first draft to the final
draft:
Colour Scheme
• I have used the same colour scheme across all of my ancillary
texts, this creates consistency across the production and creates
links to each text. I have continued the orange, white, and grey
colour scheme which links to the production through the orange
glowing eyes which largely feature across the production.
Features
• In my final draft, I added several features, including a “Buy
Tickets” button and a short introduction to the plot of the
production. This introduction is the same that I used in the
description of my video onYouTube.
Background
• I changed my background to black to create more of an impact
since the features stand out against the background more. This
background fits with the rest of the website better and matches
the background of my poster and magazine cover.
Interactive Links
• I have set my trailer to autoplay when the page is loaded, this
immediately gives the audience insight to the production and
allows them to see what the plot is. I have also changed the
“Community” link to a forum which lets the audience discuss the
production.
