I
t was an excursion to Coimbatore, the school announced,
and I was so excited. It would be my first trip out of the
small town of Dharapuram where I live. We arrived at
Coimbatore and as we made our way to the Insect Museum, I
could see that it was a huge city with lots of people, traffic,
markets, and shopping centers. The first place we visited was
the Insect Museum where there are 20,000
insects of 50 different species from all over
India. It is the first museum in India to
have only insects. It gave us all a
‘creepy’ feeling as we watched the
insects. From there we went to the
Botanical Garden, which is huge
and has many trees and plants of
different varieties. There was a big
park in which we played for some
time. The best was yet to come-
The car museum. There were so
many cars of different make with
the year in which each was made,
written on it. They also told us which country the car was
made in. This was the best place of all the places that I visit-
ed in Coimbatore. We arrived back at the
school quite late in the night because there
was a lot of
traffic jam on the way back. The whole trip
had been a good learning experience for me.

HEALTHY HABITS-
NECESSITY FOR LIFE
M
orning school assembly provides a plat-
form for students to showcase their talents
and directs the students towards their
future goals. It activates the brain’s metabolism
throughout the day and makes students enthusi-
astic about learning beyond their textbooks. The
assembly sessions in Venkatalakshmi Matricula-
tion Higher Secondary School inseminate students
with good confidence. They need to prepare for life.
It helps them establish group cohesion and builds
authentic moral character.
The class VII students got an opportunity to
conduct assembly on the topic “Healthy habits for
successful life” on 28.06.2023 Students had a chance
to explore their skills through various activities
such as Prayer, Patriotic song, reciting Bhagawad
Gita, GK questions based on healthy habits, a poem
and a speech stressing the importance of healthy
habits.
The energetic VII boys performed a skit insist-
ing that we should have patience to reach our des-
tination to make our life successful. A team of
students held the placards inculcating the six
health habits that can change our life namely
, Read-
ing books , Writing , Meditation , Gratitude , Wak-
ing up early in the morning , Self-discipline
through their thought-provoking speech. It was
intriguing and impressive too.
RAINBOW DAY CELEBRATION AT SVVS
T
he vibrant hues of a rainbow
have always captivated the im-
agination of both young and
old alike. The kindergarten wing of
Sri Vinayaga Vidyalaya School cele-
brated Rainbow Day—a special occa-
sion that filled our classrooms
with a riot of colors, laughter, and
endless joy. It was a day where our
little learners embraced the magic of
colors and discovered the beauty of
diversity
.
To create an enchanting atmos-
phere for our young learners the
classrooms were adorned with color-
ful decorations, ranging from chart
works, colorful things, VIBGYOR
themed balloon arc, multicolored
hangings and a lot.
On Rainbow Day, our students
were encouraged to dress up in any
of their favorite VIBGYOR colour.
The day began with an assembly
where our little ones were introduced
to the concept of rainbow through
interactive and engaging activities
the children learned about the color
of rainbows.
It was a day when children cele-
brated the beauty of colors by im-
mersing themselves in a vibrant
spectrum of experiences. Children
were engaged in creating a finger
impression rainbow on the wall of
the classroom fostering their artistic
and curious mind.
As educators, the teachers
at SVVS remain committed to nur-
ture the hearts and minds of our
little ones. Rainbow Day will forever
remain etched in our memories
as a day of joy, learning and celebra-
tion.

GURU PURNIMA
CELEBRATED AT SGNCS
T
he mark of Guru Purnima is simplicity, showering the
teachers with gratitude and being sincere towards their
studies is the best way to truly celebrate this day. The
students of Sri Gopal Naidu Children’s school organized a
program, the day to honour their teachers by promising to be
sincere with their learning process. The program was curated
and executed entirely by the students by singing songs and
reciting slokas to the tunes to show gratitude to their teachers.
Everybody was overwhelmed by the heart-touching gestures
and performances of the students. All the kids greeted and
showed their love to their affectionate teachers with colourful
cards and charts. All the teachers blessed them wholeheart-
edly to become and be a good human being in their life. Prin-

Childhood and early activism
T
he daughter of an outspoken social
activist and educator, Yousafzai was
an excellent student. Her father—
who established and administered the
school she attended, Khushal Girls High
School and College in the city of Mingo-
ra—encouraged her to follow in his path.
In 2007 the Swat valley, once a vacation
destination, was invaded by the TTP
. Led
by Maulana Fazlullah, the TTP began im-
posing strict Islamic law, destroying or
shutting down girls’ schools, banning
womenfromanyactiveroleinsociety
,and
carrying out suicide bombings. In Febru-
ary 2009 Yousafzai made her first televi-
sion appearance, when she was inter-
viewed by Pakistani journalist and talk
show host Hamid Mir on the Pakistan
current events show Capital Talk. In late
February the TTP, responding to an in-
creasing backlash throughout Pakistan,
agreed to a cease-fire, lifted the restriction
against girls, and allowed them to attend
school on the condition that they wear
burkas. However, violence resurged only
a few months later, in May, and the

outside of Swat until the Pakistani army
was able to push the TTP out. In early 2009

mer she met with the U.S. special envoy to
Afghanistan and Pakistan, Richard Hol-
brooke, and asked him to help with her
effort to protect the education of girls in
Pakistan. With Yousafzai’s continuing tel-
evision appearances and coverage in the
local and international media, it had be-
come apparent by December 2009 that she
was the BBC’s young blogger. Once her
identity was known, she began to receive
widespread recognition for her activism.
In October 2011 she was nominated by hu-
man rights activist Desmond Tutu for the
International Children’s Peace Prize. In
December of that year she was awarded
Pakistan’sfirstNationalYouthPeacePrize
(later renamed the National Malala Peace
Prize).

The women who inspired me is Malala Yousafzai because of her inspirational story and background from where she
came. Pakistani teenager, spoke out publicly against the prohibition on the education of girls that was imposed by
the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP; sometimes called Pakistani Taliban).

A must read for teens
facing troubled times
I
f you like funny, heartfelt, middle school fables, The New
Kid by Jerry Craft should be in your reading bucket list.
Jordan Banks, a 7th grader who loves drawing more than
anything, was sent by his parents to a famous high school
instead of being sent to his eagerly anticipated art school.
This book made me realize the struggles faced by a teen in
such an environment. Since this is a
graphic novel, the author has used
informal language and has included
hilarious jokes in a subtle way.
There were a plethora of metaphors
which exaggerated the story a bit.
Illustrations by Jerry Craft and col-
ouring by Jim Callahan is a spec-
tacular combination which has
made the pages vibrant and eye-
poppingly amazing. There were
loads of funny postures that made
me laugh my heart out. I rec-
ommend this book to people
who are facing troubled
times in high school.
Believe me, it works!!!
