3rd Sept.2012 To 8th Sept.2012
DAV Public School, Kansbahal took up the project ‘GIVE A SMILE- BRING JOY’ from 3-9-12 to 8-9-12
as a part of “ DESIGN FOR CHANGE- SCHOOL CHALLENGE” conceptualized and promoted by
‘RIVERSIDE’ to mark the celebration of ‘JOY OF GIVING’ week in the world. The initiative was taken
by the Principal Mrs. Rashmi Mishra, DAV Public School, Kansbahal.
To conduct the program systematically 40 students of class-VIII and class-IX (Odia medium) were
divided into five groups with five leaders under the supervision of teachers. The project ‘GIVE A
SMILE- BRING JOY’ was conducted on following dates as per the program chalked out.
3rd September, 2012
The students had a meeting with the mentor teacher and had a discussion about some community
problems that bother them. They decided to do something for the under privileged kids. So they
had a visit to a nearby rural Govt. Primary school. With the permission of the authority of that
school they interacted with the children and found almost all the kids are from very poor socio-
economic background.
3rd September, 2012
The student leaders were:-
1. AnuragXalxo
2. SushantaSahani
3. ManjulaTirkey
4. Lipismita Patel
5. BabitaRajbhor
The student leaders had a discussion with their mentor teacher Miss SubhadraPattnaik how to
bring some change for those under privileged kids. Again they had a visit to that school, had a
discussion with the school authority and interacted with the kids. They found the kids are deprived
of some basic needs like pencil, rubber, pencil box, tiffin, toys etc. So they decided to share their
own things and bring some happiness to those small kids.
4th September, 2012
The students made beautiful charts and posters displaying their thoughts and feelings, went to
that primary school, played with the students and shared their tiffin.
5th September, 2012
Students shared their tiffin with the kids, conducted games for them and gave them prizes
purchased with their small amount of pocket money.
6th, September, 2012
Students shared their tiffin with the kids and played with them for some time.
7th September, 2012
Students collected pens, pencils, rubbers, and toys from their friends and packed them in their
handmade boxes and wrapped them with colour papers. To each and every kid of that Gualapara
Govt. U. P. School they presented those beautiful gifts, shared their tiffin and brought a lot of joy
for them.
8th September, 2012
The kids of the Gualapara U. P. School were eagerly waiting for the students of DAV Public School.
Again they shared their tiffin and had a lot of fun with them. The kids’ joys knew no bound. The
students of DAV Public School also had a unique experience of ‘Joy of sharing and caring’.
